    Extremely Boring Movies

What are the worst movies you have ever suffered through? The worst ones, for me, are the ones that have clout as 'actor's movies'. In other words, nothing happens and too much time is wasted on scanning shots of actor's faces. And generally those faces are expressionless.

Anyway, hope nobody liked this movie...because after it was over, I was still wondering if anything was actually going to happen to constitute a story of some kind. I mean...Charlotte Rampling has an interesting face, but....it just can't carry an entire film.

'45 Years' is a time warping film that makes a couple of hours feel like 45 years. The trailer represents the most thrilling and fast moving bits of the film

    In Praise of Boring Films

In April 2011, the critic Dan Kois ignited a mini-firestorm among cultural commentators when he published an article in the New York Times Magazine entitled “Eating Your Culture Vegetables.” Kois confessed that he had lost the will to sit through any more austere, slow-moving, high-art movies. He had spent his career dozing through such films because he felt obligated to attend them, both as a professional critic and as an educated person. “Those are the kinds of films dearly loved by the writers, thinkers and friends I most respect, so I, too, seek them out,” he said. His epiphany came when he realized that no one was forcing him to eat his cultural vegetables.

The Revenant. Tried to watch it. Just couldn't do it. The trailer looks great, but what I saw of it was monotonous.

Agreed, OG, it was mostly pointless ... They must have tried to recreate this movie but failed miserably:

Well, this is most likely going to sound like blasphemy to many people here, but I have always found "2001: A Space Odyssey" an excruciatingly slow movie. I've watched it now about three or four times in total over the years, and I've always felt that the whole story could have been told in about one third of the movie's duration without losing any of its content.

The two most painful things in that movie for myself to have had to sit through were the approach of the shuttle to the rotating wheel-like space station while you're hearing the almost completely played back "An der schönen blauen Donau", and then the "trip" as Bowman falls into the wormhole ─ or whatever that thing was. I've never done any drugs in my life, but most of that movie felt as what I imagine an LSD trip would be like. Which is probably what Kubrick was high on when he was making that movie ─ he was known to, um, use a substance or two at the time.

I lasted less than a half hour watching it.

    May your experience be better.

I suggest Silent Running with Bruce Dern to be included for a yawnfest of hollywood.

I always hated Bruce Dern as a character until I saw this movie. They portrayed him as a man with a heart. It switched my perception of him. It was a boring movie nevertheless.

I've heard folks say The Martian was really boring. I read part of the book and liked it, but I haven't seen the film.

My husband can't stand the first Star Trek movie where they find V-ger. Too many boring stretches for him.

I have wanted to watch that movie, why does Matt Damon always get lost in space? Geeks seemed to have liked it, maybe the book would be good too. For me Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy was boring. Also once I fell asleep during watching The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

Not me, I watched it a couple of times. My kinda flick. Even though I confused H.G. Wells for Jules Verne when I was giving someone a hard time for not being familiar ... How embarrassing!
