Mikhail Baryshnikov IS the most technically impressive dancer I've ever seen. He made Gregory Hines a noted dancer look amateurish:

Amateurish? Hmmm. I'd say Mikhail looks like a ballet dancer doing a different kind of dance. I can't recall a time when Hines looked amateurish. But your mileage may vary.

All true but look at Baryshnikov's center of balance and leg and arm positions when landing moves. And his body posture during the moves. I sort of exaggerated Hines level/lack of expertise ... When watching this time he seemed very quick (good) but lacked the same level of precision. Just my opinion of course.

You're right, but Hines is dancing jazzy. Baryshnikov's entire career involved leaping eight feet in the air and spinning forever. Anyway, Hines did the second spin at the end better.

I'm just busting on you. The dance isn't perfectly in sync. They may not have been able to practice together much, I don't know. But it's a movie scene, so it may be intentionally imperfect for the plot. It's been a long time. I saw the film, but don't recall well the movie or facts about it.

Can't really get more 80's than this. Jennifer Beals is still youthful and beautiful while nearing her 60's.

I saw a stripper dance to that song once ... it was hilarious! Splashdance. I didn't remember her being so wow...I suppose watching the stripper stripped her beauty out of mind and the only thing left was the memorable joke.

It was a french ballet dancer who did the big workout and most of the dancing in Flashdance, if I recall correctly. There was a lot of editing done.

Michael Jackson looked his best at this point, imo. He looked like Michael. His nose was normal. His face was normal. His color was normal. I've heard about the pigment condition. But I feel like the ghostly white face went way beyond compensation for that.

He was such a star he could have had a face that was black, white and purple.

And this one ─ the original ─ was written and produced by Nile Rodgers and (the late) Bernard Edwards from Chic ─ you can clearly hear Nile's typical syncopated chops on the neck pickup of his Fender Stratocaster. It was also Sheila & The Black Devotion's first single in English, because they are French, and they had until then only been singing in French.

Ah, how didn't I recognize that. Chic is so good and Nile Rodgers was a genius.
