I was surprised, "Freeman" must have been massively morphed when the 'libertarians' got a hold of it.

I could have been aware of the content...after all, the location is Austin...the place that Texans want to keep weird...lol...outside of the politicians it is the sanest place in Texas. I honestly have never met anyone that lives there that doesn't love it. Likely because they've lived elsewhere in Texas.

    Thinking

Yet - another look back towards the future ...

James Howard Kunstler - Living in the Long Emergency

    LegaliseFreedom1

James Howard Kunstler and I discuss the current coronavirus crisis and his latest book 'Living in the Long Emergency: Global Crisis, the Failure of the Futurists, and the Early Adapters Who Are Showing Us the Way Forward'.

In his 2005 book, 'The Long Emergency', Kunstler described the global predicaments that would pitch industrial civilization into political and economic turmoil in the 21st century - the end of affordable oil, climate irregularities, and flagging economic growth, to name a few. Now, he returns with a book that takes an up-close-and-personal approach to how real people are living now - surviving The Long Emergency as it happens.

'Living in the Long Emergency' could hardly have been published at a more opportune moment, as governments worldwide and billions of citizens grapple with an unprecedented global crisis. Despite constant words of warning from Kunstler and others with a similarly keen sense of history and proclivity for joined-up thinking, we remain woefully unprepared for any disruption to the complex systems on which industrial civilization depends. More likely than not, however, we will eventually emerge blinking into the glaring light of an uncertain new dawn. Whether we then change our ways or simply fall back into our former slow-death spiral remains to be seen.

    Spiffing London Walks -
Bermondsey, Maltby Street Market & Old Operating Theatre

Joolz Guides - London History Walks - Travel Films

In this most spiffing walk around Bermondsey Joolz goes to the Old Operating Theatre Museum and Herb Garret. A garret is a liveable space in an attic and this one was discovered above this church having been sealed up in the 19th century. You can attend a demonstration of how the operating theatre worked and see all the wonderful medical devices.

Nearby is Guy's Hospital with an alcove one belonging to the medieval London Bridge, containing a statue of John Keats.

Then we go up to Bermondsey Street with all its cafes and the surrounding area with its old leather factories and tanneries. If you are feeling hungry you can also go up the Maltby Street Market.

    Question

Speaking of something/someone that could float America's boat ...

    Cuomo pleads for unity as virus toll rises;
USNS Comfort ship welcomed in NYC

"NEW YORK — Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo called for political and national unity Monday to fight the coronavirus after President Donald J. Trump said over the weekend he may order an enforceable quarantine for New York and surrounding areas in New Jersey and some parts of Connecticut as the pandemic continues to spread.

Gov. Cuomo called for unity to combat the pandemic, saying Trump referred to COVID-19 as “a war.”

“This is not a time for politics, partisanship or division,” Gov. Cuomo said. “If there is division at this time, the virus will defeat us.

“The virus doesn’t discriminate — it attacks everyone, and it attacks everywhere. There are no red states, and there are no blue states, and there are no red casualties and there are no blue casualties. It is red, white and blue. If there was ever a moment for unity, this is it.”

The 1,000-bed USNS Comfort ship arrived at Pier 88 in New York Harbor on Monday morning. The state’s first temporary medical center at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in Manhattan, which has 2,500 beds, opened Monday afternoon.

The additional 3,500 beds will not be used to treat COVID-19 patients, but will assist with anticipated hospital overflow, Gov. Cuomo said.

“It will be a relief valve for hospitals that are struggling now that are over capacity all across the city,” the governor said from Pier 88 on Monday with the vessel behind him. “About 3,500 beds to relieve the stress that our hospital system is facing.”

Gov. Cuomo announced a statewide public-private hospital plan to fight COVID-19 on Monday from the Javits Center. As part of the plan, public and private hospitals from across the state agreed to implement a balanced approach to fight the virus where hospitals approaching or exceed capacity can transfer patients to other hospitals that are not as full. The hospital systems across the state have also agreed to share supplies, staff and other resources.

Reaching 66,497 positive cases Monday, New York has roughly half of the nation’s confirmed cases of the coronavirus.

Just over 14 percent of positively infected New Yorkers are hospitalized, or 9,517 people, with 2,352 patients in the ICU.

The state reported a total of 1,218 virus-related deaths Saturday afternoon — up from 965 Sunday and 519 Friday.

The state’s most dense virus hot spots have remained downstate and in New York City. As of Sunday, the virus has been detected in 55 counties, including the city, with 33,768 positive cases in New York City, 8,519 cases in Westchester County, 6,445 in Nassau County, 5,023 cases in Suffolk County, 2,209 in Rockland County and 199 in Albany County."

Cuomo says ‘no’ when grilled by brother about possible presidential run

Gov. Andrew Cuomo, whose approval rating is near 90 percent as he leads the state’s response to the coronavirus pandemic, shot down having any thoughts of running for president during an interview with his brother, CNN’s Chris Cuomo. “With all of this adulation you’re getting for doing job, are you thinking about running for president?” Chris Cuomo asked his brother Monday night, according to The Hill. “No, no,” the governor responded. “No, you won’t answer?” Chris asked before hurling a series of hypotheticals at his squirming sibling, such as whether he’d entertain a run in the future. “No,” the governor replied again. Earlier in the day, President Trump said he believes Cuomo would be a better presidential candidate than Joe Biden because the former veep is not “capable” of being commander in chief. “We want to always make sure that we have a great president — we have somebody that’s capable. I personally don’t think Joe Biden is capable,” the president said in an interview with “Fox & Friends” on Fox News Channel. “I wouldn’t mind running against Andrew. I have known Andrew for a long time. I wouldn’t mind that. But I’ll be honest, I think he’d be a better candidate than Sleepy Joe,” Trump said.

Skinwalker Ranch Secrets: Richard Dolan Interviews Travis Taylor.

Considered by many to be the weirdest place on Earth, the Skinwalker Ranch in Utah has a long history of bizarre events. Anything from UFOs, to cattle mutilations, to strange creature sightings, to poltergeists and more. The ranch was studied in detail during the 1990s and early 2000s by Robert Bigelow's National Institute for Discovery Science (NIDS). Since 2016, the ranch has been owned by real estate developer Brandon Fugal, who has supported ongoing scientific research at the property. Currently, the History Channel has a new show on all this, "The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch," which features Travis Taylor, Ph.D. Richard interviews Travis to find out what the new scientific investigation has uncovered.
