Busted. You're right Aianawa, it was a follow up after being pissed. It was an account of the moment.

For I was indeed quite pissed and nobody but one person has ever heard me utter what I did the other night in the way I did. And that person will likely never forget.

And I have no regrets. I didn't say anything that was out of line or unearned.

So I had another confrontation. July was the month of confrontations. It was also family and also related to things I had been upset about and dealing with for some time. This confrontation took a while to begin to resolve.

The first large and very good step was taken yesterday.

If things keep going the way they are I may be much less pissed and annoyed, at least about certain things, than I have in a long time.

I feel like I've thrown a weight off my shoulders and am now taking big breaths.

And I don't even have anyone really mad at me anymore because they're realizing their own role in things and moving forward.

(sounds too good to be true, doesn't it? I know who will give me grief and I can predict what kind, so I'll be ready)

I've got a confrontation of my own coming up. Most likely next Monday, which is when I'm expected for dinner somewhere, but I don't intend to show up, nor to let them know about that in advance. Maybe they'll learn their lesson that way then, although I seriously doubt it.

    I hate betrayal.

No offense, Brother, but are we still living in the same world? I'm asking because what I am seeing is the exact opposite of that, and it aggravates me.

I'm seeing more and more people slipping into that hypnotic alpha state, even within this so-called "alternative community". In fact, I'm seeing very little sense of community, and more sense of entitlement, fed by a raw ego that never passes through the filter of introspection. I'm seeing a lot of "I don't know why I'm doing this, but I'm gonna do it anyway, because I feel like it, and if you don't like what I'm doing then fuck you."

I'm seeing a lot of people — many of whom are longstanding members of this forum — connecting to the forum in search of mindless distraction and selfish entertainment, as if it's some kind of TV set. They don't engage in discussions unless there's something for themselves to gain from doing so. They don't even click the "Thanks" button, or they may maintain a policy on account of said button as if it were the same thing as the "Like"/"Dislike" buttons on Facebook. They are consumers, rather than participants.

The old adage that "If you give a man a fish, then you will have fed him for a day, but if you teach a man to fish, you will have fed him for the rest of his life" doesn't work anymore. We've already devolved beyond that now. Nobody wants to learn how to fish. It's so much easier to just gobble up the fishes that the teacher pulls out of the water in his attempt to show them by way of a practical demonstration.

Outside of the forum, I see gratuitous involvement in, and the vigorous debating of things that really don't even matter one iota, while everyone's completely missing that whole tribe of elephants in the room. I see people cheering for scandalously overpaid and overrated political leaders as if they're sports teams — and for the record, I'm not talking about Donald Trump or Theresa May right now, but about local mayors, candidate-mayors and party chairmen over here in Belgium, in the aftermath of last Sunday's municipal elections.

Whenever there are elections here, then we get a game of musical chairs, whereby incumbent political leaders — be it mayors, regional ministers and members of the regional parliaments, federal ministers and members of the federal parliament, or members of the European Parliament — all abandon their offices in favor of a new office that they were running for. Mayors wanting to get involved with the regional or federal government, regional or federal government ministers running for mayor in their town or city of residence, or wanting to get into the European Parliament. Or European Parliament members who suddenly want to get involved with regional or federal government again, or wanting to become mayor, and so on.

It's ridiculous, and the only thing that should already long have become abundantly clear — even though nobody seems to notice it — is that they are all career politicians in service of their own egos and their own wallets, and they they will do or say whatever they need to do or say to get themselves elected for the position they aspire. They're even already making coalition agreements and dividing offices between the respective parties before the elections are held.

You don't survive in that system unless you're a morally corrupt career politician yourself, because political parties are mobs. You join a political party and you toe the party line, and then everyone within the party will have your back. Turn your back on them and you will be bullied, scandalized and ridiculed in the public media — possibly by the journalists, but most definitely by the political party you've just turned your back on. And then the other parties might even be trying to reel you in, regardless of your political convictions. It's not about your ideas, and it's most certainly not about trying to effect a change in the way the country/region/province/municipality is run, but about how popular you are and how many voters you might bring with you.

And if you decide to start a new party, then you better have a thick skin, and a lot of members, so that you can live up to an expected voting turnout of at least 5%. If you don't get at least 5% of the votes, then you won't be allowed to play in the game. It's a new decree from somewhere in the past decade that was voted in place by the three major political families here in Belgium — i.e. the socialists, the Christian-democrats and the Keynesian liberals — so as to "prevent further fragmentation of the political landscape". In other words, they want to keep the power divided among the boys in the frat club. And any newly founded party will always get bullied and ridiculed in the media by the other parties, for that exact same reason, i.e. it's not about your ideas, but about the amount of voters that support you. Any vote you win is a vote lost for the frat club.

So anyway, what I'm seeing is that the people continue cheering for authoritarian leaders who exploit us and who get paid quite royally to do that, and from our own taxpayer money.

I also see people either completely losing it, or conversely, continue cheering for (equally overpaid and overrated) soccer players here — many of whom were "purchased" at the international level, so they're not even local guys, but apparently when you're a soccer player then it suddenly becomes very easy for you to obtain Belgian citizenship — and all of that smack in the middle of a number of disparate scandals involving several soccer clubs, trainers and players. And I will even add that we've had a very similar situation in soccer here somewhere in the past decade, when a wealthy Chinese bookmaker was bribing several Belgian soccer clubs in order to fix the games. "Let's all ignore history so we can repeat it."

All in all, and to bring this rant to a stop — well it is a thread for ranting, isn't it? — I am seeing lots of theses and their antitheses, without anyone realizing that there's such a thing as a synthesis. People moving around between different rooms on the same floor without anyone even realizing that there's an elevator and a staircase in the building, and that there are many other floors above the one they're on.

Yes, I know I've been saying that quite a lot lately, but apparently people are so far gone already that they're not even aware of how they themselves are the ones who keep on running in circles. Again, it's that hypnotic alpha state. See the splinter in the other guy's eye, while missing the beam in your own.

That is what I'm seeing, Brother.

    Good.

I guess I won't post the video for Happy, it would be incongruous on this thread.

A fake crisis on the border - crossings are at a decades-long low! - and calling for a National Emergency at the border which doesn't exist is appalling and outrageous.

It's gonna waste our tax dollars, peoples' rights are going to be violated in all kinds of ways, and Trump's wee willie still isn't gonna get any bigger. What a maroon! What an embezzle!

It is not about the wall, because the wall is a no thing really, whats the wall drama hiding ?, unbelieveable that anyone with simple common sense thinks Trump is dumb or stupid as simple logical discernment would allow one, anyone, to see different than the hugely pumped weres narrative that he is stupid. Bush two was a blunt tool from the shed imo, was obvious and easily logicalled.

There is another meaning to Trump, the trickster, the joker etc. if you're playing games.

    trump card

The trump card is the winning card. If you play a trump card during a game of Spades, it means that you take the whole trick — in other words, you'll pick up every card on the table.

Any card game in which one card or suit ranks the highest has a trump card, the card that wins a hand. You can also use the phrase metaphorically, to describe some secret advantage you have. For example, you might think of your mom's homemade brownies as your trump card when you're trying to convince your friends to come over after school. Trump card comes from an old card game called "triumph," shortened to just trump in the 1500's.
Maybe this has led everyone to believe in him, he?
