I look forward to be able to discuss the new X-Files. It sounds like we need to wait a bit for those ‘across the pond’ to get the new episodes. I avidly watched all the X-Files over and over.

It’s funny, it was years after the series began before I could watch them because I was married to a very devout evangelical preacher. He forbad me to watch X-Files and the new Star Trek shows at that time. After he was caught with the church secretary and excommunicated I divorced him and began watching all the shows I longed to watch and most importantly read all the books I had wanted to read for 16 years.

Although, all those years I was married to him I am deeply grateful. I was exposed to intense bible study and research. I even learned (somewhat) how to interpret scripture using the original Greek and Hebrew. The bible takes on a whole new meaning if the original text is used. Opens up a whole other world.

I found the first episode very fascinating . . . . . although I bet in a different way than most . . . it will be interesting discussion.

I wish I could read Koine and ancient Hebrew, but those manuscripts don't seem to be enough of a motivation. I might have to get your help on it one day.

It seems they are looking into how the government agencies are using weapons and mutations against the public.Basically we are there test subjects.

Cheers the One, not sure if I am excited or not, about 9 11, the collective mind is aware imo of the untruth but maybe not the full truth, already, about the alien factor and/or man imitating negative alien actions etc plus black ops and corrupt government imo exlent, as for where this is leading, I am hopefullll but the tiredness of waiting sits with me, my mantra the last couple of years has been patience patience patience lol

Will it simply petter off/out though, also how far can they take this, election fraud, ? bloodlines maybe in-depth, synchronicity explained, heck the list is endless I suppose, prior civilizations may be a good bet as it is becoming obvious.

According to this Wonkypedia article, it's only intended as a 6-episode miniseries, not as a full-scale reboot of the original series — at least, for now, but I suppose they could always reboot the series if the viewer ratings demand it. So at present time, and with the future of production still uncertain, there are always going to be limitations with regard to how far they can push the storyline.

According to that same article, only the first and last episodes have actual "story arc" plots, and the 2nd to 5th episodes are in the "monster of the week" format. The difference with the original series however is that in the miniseries, the "monster of the week" format actively ties in with the overall story arc of genetic experimentation with alien DNA, so that the entire miniseries is more consistent in that regard than the original series or the movies.

By the way, I think it's very clear who the character of Tad O'Malley is based upon.

it's clear the casting of a comedian to play the jones-like character is a huge miscast.

Oh, I don't know about that, jimmer. I found his acting performance quite credible, and I doubt whether anyone outside of North America would know the guy's background. I certainly didn't, until I saw the introductory video to the new miniseries with the comments from the actors and from Chris Carter himself.

IMHO Joel is loud, very straight forward and is not afraid to "go threre" just as Alex Jones is. Just chop a foot off of him, add a gut and gravelly voice and there you go.
