    Introducing Raphael

I wish to introduce an old friend of mine, from an old 2012 forum, mainly because some of his research is puzzle piece material to some.

His name is Raphael, sorta known as the Swastika man lol >

    Here is a snippit >

Diabolus in Musica a.k.a. the augmented fourth expresses its musical geometry as a Maltese Cross.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=LJVO-FcxDio

Beginning @ 0:20:15 James Furia discusses augmented 4ths, or the Diabolus in Musica.

James claims this was an “interesting find”.
James also adds that “it is horrible sounding … you’d drive somebody crazy with this”

Why is the augmented 4th considered the “chord of evil“, and why was it banned in Renaissance church music
    http://www.guardian.co.uk/notesandqu...,-1767,00.html

I love this coincidence regarding the “chord of evil“ i.e. it is successfully employed in emergency sirens. Worldwide the Maltese Cross is used as a symbol to represent fire departments.

What other concepts can we find associated to the geometry of the Maltese Cross, the “chord of evil?

Diabolus in Musica seems to bear a resemblance to the symbol associated with “In hoc signo vinces” or “in this sign conquer”.

Those wee ones are good at bossing. I've been having the pleasure of seeing new babies this holiday. So wonderful.

He uses intuition and knowing... That's the way, IMO.

It's hard to do if it hasn't been habit or practice.

The augmented 4th or diminshed (flat) 5 are the same note FWIW and when I talk music 'flat 5' is what I use. It was this modality, 'the devil's note', used by the guitarist Tony Iommi, of Black Sabbath in the song by the same title. It begins the song and immediately lends an ominous atmosphere, that doesn't let up. It became popular with most heavy metal bands after that as was featured in many songs. A very powerful dissonant note to add to a musical scale. The flat 5, or augmented 4th, is used in a modern diminished chords but, is voiced with other diminished (flat) notes that make the chord queerly dissonant rather than unpleasant.

Pardon me for geeking out. I am a lifelong musician and am conversant/use music theory when thinking/conceiving songs or their structure. I thought the Black Sabbath reference might be of some interest.

LOL. I haven't even dug into the above material yet and was just riffing on the subject matter, Diabolus in Musica. I am sure to find the above information worth my while to check out.
