    Mozart - concierto para piano n° 20 - maría joao pires & pierre boulez & berlin philarmonic -- 2003

Maria Joao Pires is a Portugese pianist that is playing "soulfully", I love the lightness of Mozart. This is for the classical music lovers.

    Beethoven - Moonlight Sonata

When I was 21 years old a musician told me this story and I loved it.

Beethoven was walking, one night in the streets of Vienna, in the moonlight, and he heard piano music coming from an open window. He knocked at the door and went in and in a room all by herself he saw a girl playing the piano (the first movement of the sonata). He asked her if he could join her and on acceptance he sat down beside her and started jiving with her. After a while she said: "Mr. your playing sound just like Beethoven". Then he said: "I am Beethoven".

    This the Moonlight Sonata….

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Clarinet Concerto in A major, K.622

Listen to what little Iceland can mange! It's hard to play Mozart because the music is so clear and transparent that it leaves NO space for mistakes. Give yourself a half hour of peaceful vibes.

    Paganini Caprice no.6 [HQ]

Paganini was thought to have 6 fingers on the left hand, but his hands were so big that he could reach where other musicians would have needed 6 fingers. So this piece is considered to be "The Impossible" one. Sometimes he wrote music that only he himself could play.

    Adiemus - Songs Of Sanctuary

In 1995, Adiemus ensured that Karl Jenkins would burst forth into the mainstream. As with so many pieces of classical music, Adiemus's success in the late twentieth century was initially down to its use on a television advert in this case, a Delta Airlines commercial. Interestingly, the music was actually commissioned by the airline and then developed further by Jenkins into a full-blown classical work. To say it is scored for sopranos and orchestra is to already define Adiemus in conventional ways that the composer would arguably resist. The female soloist (on the original recording, Miriam Stockley) performs in a fusion of styles, with Western melodic structures, world music influences and free time signatures abounding. The second female singer (in this case, Mary Carewe) harmonises in a parallel manner, creating an equally new age feel and non-Western classical music sound-world.

    Bach's Fight for Freedom

The details may be so so not so true, but the overall story is I think. This is the man that all his predecessors studied and emulated as much as possible. He was a genius and misunderstood in a time when servant of the upper class was all you should ever hope to be. Posting this movie because the background music is so lovely.

And here is a documentary by the BBC 1997, I wish they would have left out all the religious stuff, because I think Bach would have been spiritual rather than religious. Other than that it's a good watch...it's very uplifting to me....
