Mystery Of 1,000 Ancient Carved Shiva Lingas Discovered In India And Cambodia

    Source:- http://www.messagetoeagle.com/catego...ative-history/

It is an astonishing sight to see hundreds of carved Shiva Lingas embedded on the Shalmala river bed. This is an ancient place shrouded in beauty and mystery.

Over 1,000 Astonishing Shiva Lingas Can Be Seen In The Middle Of The Shalmala River.
Sahasralinga is a pilgrimage place in the Sirsi Taluk in the district of Uttara Kannada of Karnataka state in India. The river Shalmala is today famous for more than thousand lingas which are carved on the rocks in the river bank.

This magnificent site was discovered in 1969, by an ethnologist named Jean Boulbet Unfortunately, his work was interrupted by the Cambodian Civil War and it took 20 years before the place was safe to visit.

Most of the lingas are clearly visible when the water level in the river is not very high. So it shouldn’t be surprising to learn that the name Sahasralinga means thousand-lingas in Sanskrit. It is a sacred site, and during Hindu festival Shivratri thousands of pilgrims visit this place and offer pujas.

Recently, due to dry weather, the water level of the Shalmala river in Karnataka receded, revealing the presence of thousands of Shiva Lingas.

According to historians, the lingas are believed to have been commissioned to be carved by Sadashiva Raya (who was also called the King of Sirsi), of the Vijayanagar Kingdom during 1678-1718. There is a local legend that says the Sahasralingas were ordered to be created by the king based on a belief that doing so might help beget an heir to his kingdom.

Many Shiva Lingas Of Unknown Origin Can Be Found In Cambodia

A similar place exists in Cambodia. Cambodian Sahasralinga is located 25 kilometres from Angkor Watt, the largest Hindu temple outside of India. The place is called Kbal Spean and its meaning is ‘the Head Bridge’. Here, we also find plenty of carved lingas located in the middle of a river, but the place is not sacred and it is rarely visited other than by curious tourists. It should be added it is also difficult to access due to the surrounding wildness.

Long ago the kings used to come here for holy bath. It is unknown who carved these lingas and for what purpose. Locals believe that the Lingas are symbols of creative energy and the river water that flows on the lingas will make the Cambodian paddy fields more fertile. A lot of Hindu symbols were destroyed during the civil war in Cambodia. But these Sahasra Lingas were not affected because of the surrounding thick forest.

One of the remarkable sculptures here is of Maha Vishnu and Brahma emerges from his belly on a lotus flower.

The Shiva Linga As An Ancient Sacred Symbol

In Sanskrit, Linga means a ‘mark’ or a symbol, which points to an inference. The Shiva Linga is a representation of the Hindu deity Shiva used for worship in temples. In traditional Indian society, the linga is rather seen as a symbol of the energy and potential of God, Shiva himself.

The idea that the linga represents a phallus is a complete mistake, according to Swami Sivananda, a Hindu spiritual teacher and a proponent ofYoga and Vedanta.

The ancient scripture Linga Purana informs that the foremost Linga is devoid of smell, colour, taste, etc., and is spoken of as ‘Prakriti’ or Nature itself. In the post-Vedic period, the Linga became symbolical of the generative power of Lord Shiva.

The Linga is like an egg, and represents the ‘Brahmanda’ or the cosmic egg.

Was the Christian Vatican Originally a Temple to Lord Shiva?

Was the Christian Vatican Originally a Temple to Lord Shiva?

    By Dr. Subramanian Swamy

All religions are one and are derived from Vedic Sanatana Dharma. Famous historian P.N. Oak claimed that the word Vatican originally came from the sanskrit word “Vatika”, that “Christianity” came from the sanskrit words “Krishna-neeti”, (“ethics of Krishna” or “the way of Krishna”), and that “Abraham” came from the sanskrit word “Brahma”. He further claims that both Christianity and Islam originated as distortions of Vedic beliefs.

Compare the two pictures below and you can see a striking similarity between the shapes of a shiva linga and the vatican church compound. Further if we look closer, we even see a perfect tripundra and bindu incorporated into their design.

Vatican Church Compound Shaped as a Shiva Linga

In the following pictures let us compare the tripundra (three lines worn by Lord Shiva as tilak).

The word ‘Vatican’ itself is derived from the sanskrit word Vatika or Vatica, which means vedic cultural or religious centers. In sanskrit the word Vatika is used to describe a place, such as Ananda-Vatika, Ashrama-Vatika, Yagna-Vatika, etc. Such words and discoveries prove that the Vatican was a Hindu (Vedic) religious center before its incumbent was forced to accept Christianity from 1st century AD.

Also, according to some reports, a Shiva linga was found during the excavation and is kept for display at Gregorian Etruscan Museum in Rome (details below). Hindustan indeed was Virat.

Siva Linga at Gregorian Etruscan Museum, Vatican City

This Siva Lingam is exhibited in Gregorian Etruscan Museum, Vatican City. This has the most important Etruscan collection in Rome, starting with early Iron Age objects from the 9th century BC. Encyclopedia Britannica mentions under the headings “Etruria” and “Etruscan” that between the 2nd and 7th centuries BC, northern Italy was known as Etruria. During archaeological excavations many such “meteoric stones mounted on carved pedestals (Siva Lingas on bases)” have been discovered in Italy. This Siva Lingam was dug-up from Vatican City itself. Many more must be lying buried under the Vatican’s massive walls and numerous cellars.

P.N. Oak’s Theories on Vedic Roots of World Religions

P.N. Oak claims that Christianity and Islam are both derivatives of Hinduism, and that the Catholic Vatican, Kaaba and the Taj Mahal were once Hindu temples to Shiva. In his book, “Some Missing Chapters of World History”, Oak claimed that the first civilisation was developed in India from which all world civilisations grew. He wrote books on this subject in three languages.

Intent on rectifying what he believed to be “biased and distorted versions of India’s history produced by the invaders and colonizers”, Oak has written several books and articles on Indian history and founded the “Institute for Rewriting Indian History” in 1964. According to Oak, modern secular and Marxist historians have fabricated “idealized versions” of India’s past and drained it of its “Vedic context and content”.

Oak claims that Christianity was originally a Vedic religion following Krishna and claims that Christianity was originally known by either the names Chrisna-nity or Krishna-neeti (with Oak stating these meant “The way of Krishna” or “The ethics of Lord Krishna”). These generally follow in line with Oak’s other theories and claims that the Vatican was originally called Vatika and that the Papacy was originally a “Vedic Priesthood” until Constantine the Great around 312 A.D killed the “Vedic pointiff” and installed in his place a representative of the tiny Christian sect. Oak also makes the claim that “Jesus went to India between ages 13 and 30 to learn Krishna-neeti (Christianity) from sages.”

    Amen comes from Aum

When the Christians say “Amen” at the end of their hymns or to emphasize something, what they are saying is a corrupted form of “Aum” or “Om,” which is the standard Vedic form of addressing the Supreme Being through sound.

In the bible it is said, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” That primordial divine word, which is one with God, is the Vedic syllable “Aum”. God manifests in creation as the Cosmic Vibration, which expresses itself as Cosmic Sound and Cosmic Light. The Cosmic Sound or Aum is the synthesis of all the sounds of the universe.

France's, thank you so much for posting this. The carved rocks in the river are wondrous. I'm fascinated by these connections to Christianity. Growing up I thought Hinduism was a completely different animal.

Published on Mar 4, 2014. Short Video 2:23

Sahasra Linga is the most beautiful place located near Sirsi in the state of Karnataka India. Hundreds of carved stones are found in river Shalmala.

There are hundreds of the stones with Shiva Linga carved on them by the side or river 'Shalmala'. Because these uncountable carvings, the place gets the name "Sahasra Linga" (thousand lingas). Every year on the day of 'Shivaratri' hundreds of people visit this place to worship Lord Shiva. When the water level is not high enough you can actually see all those carvings. Best time would winter and early summer. Best place for one day outing.

This place is on the way to Yellapur from Sirsi at about 17kms from Sirsi. After Bhairumbe you will have to get down at a bus-stop called Hul Gol bus-stop and walk towards Hulgol and from the main road it is around 2kms distance. Do carry your food and tentage.
Sahasra Linga is located at 14.7198N 74.8070E

Cambodia : River Of A Thousand Lingas.

This massive piece of sandstone has numerous lingas and carvings of the gods in evidence.

    1,000 Lingas : Cambodia.

Kbal Spean is renowned for its rockbed carvings and its myriad lingas, hence one of its names, River of A Thousand Lingas. The idea behind these lingas, or erect phallus, is that they are symbolically meant to fertilize the sacred waters that flow down off Phnom Kulen, the holiest mountain in Cambodia and birthplace of the ancient Khmer Empire, as the water makes its way down to the Angkor plain below.

Often the lingas are within a rectangular frame in the form of a yoni (or female form). An inscription found at the site shows that the carvings were begun in 1054 and as well as the lingas there are numerous representations of the reclining Vishnu, Shiva on Nandi, Brahma and other gods, some of which have been defaced in an attempt to remove them.

The top surface, covered in circular lingas, of the same large block of sandstone rock.

There are nine lingas represented here, inside the square yoni.

Dotted around the riverbed are numerous lingam and yoni carvings.

A giant linga at Kbal Spean, within a square yoni.

This underwater yoni has five lingas inside and another eight outside.

More underwater lingas carved onto a giant slab of sandstone.

These lingas are carved into the sloping riverbed at Kbal Spean.

More lingas in a dry part of the river just before the head of the waterfall at Kbal Spean.

    Ancient Shiva Linga In Ireland

    Ancient Shiva Linga in Ireland

In County Meath, Ireland, on the Hill of Tara sits a mysterious stone known as the Lia Fáil (Stone of Destiny). According to The Annals of the Four Masters, an ancient document written by Franciscan Monks between 1632-1636 AD, this stone was brought to Ireland by the Tuatha Dé Danann, a supernaturally gifted people. Some speculate it was they who brought the power to make bronze to Ireland. They were the main deities of pre-Christian Gaelic Ireland.

The Tuatha Dé Danann, meaning the children of the goddess Danu, are said to have ruled Ireland from 1897 B.C. to 1700 B.C. having arrived from the coast on ships. The Christian monks viewed the stone as a pagan stone idol symbolic of fertility. This stone was so important that it was used for the coronation of all Irish Kings up until 500 AD.

The goddess Danu in European tradition was a river goddess. We find her namesake in rivers such as the Danube, Don, Dneiper, & Dniestr rivers. In some Irish texts her father is said to be Dagda (the good god), a father figure in Irish tradition.

The Vedic tradition also has a goddess Danu, the daughter of Daksha, wife of Kasyapa Muni, who was a goddess of the rivers. The word Danu in Sanskrit means ‘flowing water’. As the daughter of Daksha, her sister Sati would have been married to Lord Shiva. Finally, Tara, meaning ‘star’ in Sanskrit, is another name for the wife of Lord Shiva. To practitioners of Vedic tradition the Lia Fáil matches very closely to the Shiva Linga.

Eventually the Tuatha Dé Danann were defeated in battle. According to legend, they were allowed to stay in Ireland only under the ground as the ‘Aes sidhe’ – people of the fairy mounds.

In recent years the sacred stone has been subject to desecration. In June 2012 a vandal struck the stone 11 times. You can watch a newscast on this act of vandalism:

Again, in May 2014 vandals poured red and green paint over its surface. These actions are most unfortunate. We would encourage those in Ireland to protect and visit this ancient stone – a link to Ireland’s Vedic past.

    The Kailasa Temple : India

    The Kailasa Temple : India

A list of the most magnificent wonders which ancient civilizations have produced, including the Egyptian pyramids, the ancient city and temples at Machu Picchu in Peru, and the ancient temples at Angkor in Cambodia, should not omit the rock-cut cave temples of India, especially the large Kailas complex at Ellora.

Entirely cut out of the hills, these cave temples are in fact not buildings but masterpieces of sculpture. It is mind-boggling to realize that all that is seen is the original rock still standing, sculptured with precision and great care on the basis of a grand plan. So far about 1,200 cave temples have been discovered in India, some 1,000 of them located in the western state of Maharastra. Others are located in the northeastern state of Bihar and in Karnataka to the south of Maharastra, with a few scattered throughout other states.

The most famous cave complexes are Ellora, Ajanta, Elephanta, Karli, Bhaja, Bedsa, Nasik, Udayagiri, Bagh, Badami, Cuttack, and Barabar. The temples were sculptured by Jains, Hindus, and Buddhists, and standard textbook opinion about their age is that the earliest were carved around 300 BCE but most in the period of the 4th to the 9th centuries CE . However, according to HP Blavatsky some of these complexes date to a much more remote period and were ancient mystery schools built on labyrinths of still other caves which have not been discovered.

    The Ajanta Caves : India

    Published Jun 23rd 2012. Video 8:10

The Ajanta Caves in Aurangabad district of Maharashtra, India are 30 rock-cut cave monuments which date from the 2nd century BCE to the 600 CE. The caves include paintings and sculptures considered to be masterpieces of Buddhist religious art (which depict the Jataka tales) as well as frescos which are reminiscent of the Sigiriya paintings in Sri Lanka. The caves were built in two phases starting around 2nd century BCE, with the second group of caves built around 600 CE. It is a protected monument under the Archaeological Survey of India.

Since 1983, the Ajanta Caves have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The caves are located in the Indian state of Maharashtra, near Jalgaon, just outside the village of Ajinṭhā (20°31′56″N 75°44′44″E). Caves are only about 59 kilometers from Jalgaon Railway station (on Delhi - Mumbai, Rail line of the Central railways, India); and 104 kilometers from Aurangabad.

    Ellora Caves : India

    Published Jul 9th 2014. Video 9:36

We are at Ellora caves in India, and I am going to show you some solid evidence about a secret underground area that is hidden under these caves. As you can see, there is a rectangular tunnel about 1 foot wide that is vertically going down, and is not open for public access. I asked the security guards if I could take a closer look and they told me that visitors are not allowed but they also told me that, this tunnel is over 40 feet deep and then it takes a right angle turn to proceed underground. Nobody knows what's inside after that because the tunnel becomes too narrow for human beings to get through it.
Here is another one that is hiding in plain sight. You can see a channel on the ground and there is a small rectangular opening at the end of this passage that would drain the water to the other side of the temple. But, I went to the other side of this rock but guess what? It is a solid stone!! So, there is no other way, except that this rectangular opening leads to the underground. Notice that the rectangular opening is only large enough for a 10 year old to go in? Since adult human beings can't access it, was it designed for human beings at all?

This is another hidden passage in Ellora caves that I tried to get through, but after 10 feet, it becomes so narrow that I can't go any further. Where do these mysterious tunnels lead? Who could have used such narrow passages? The other important question is: how can you carve such narrow passages if human beings cannot even get through them? Was it carved by humans at all? Were these carved for extraterrestrials that are smaller than human beings?

    Elephanta Caves : India

    Published May 5th 2014. Video 13:26

The Elephanta Caves are a network of sculpted caves located on Elephanta Island, or Gharapuri (literally he city of caves) in Mumbai Harbour, 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) to the east of the city of Mumbai in the Indian state of Maharashtra. The island, located on an arm of the Arabian Sea, consists of two groups of caves—the first is a large group of five Hindu caves, the second, a smaller group of two Buddhist caves. The Hindu caves contain rock cut stone sculptures, representing the Shaiva Hindu sect, dedicated to the god Shiva.
