Dj Cheb i Sabbah Journey well. Thank you for leaving music behind.

"Gifted with a radiant personality and a joyous spirit, he managed to merge beatmaking with tradition easily and openheartedly. If there was a disconnect in an Algerian Jew plugging into Hindu and Sufi Muslim spirituality, or in layering ragas with heavy beats, Cheb I Sabbah didn't see it. He used music to build the kind of world that he wanted to live in — and in so doing became godfather and mentor to generations of artists and listeners who found common ground on the dance floor." https://www.npr.org/2013/11/11/24453...-musical-world

Already posted earlier with another video, but this one here has the high-definition audio. The time signatures in this song are off the scale. They mix 4/4 with 2/4, 3/4, 5/4, 19/8 and some other weird odd-meter things.

This stuff is not just from another star system or another galaxy, but from another universe.

    beautiful musical

    Be in joy.
Every where you go, there you are, following the wing of thar fellow.
Everywhere eye go their I am.
Every minute, every mind. Clicking fingers keeping time.
Feel of moment, in those shoes, in their time.
Dance in expression frozen for a sip, warmed to a sup.
Miles become millimetres, everyone here now.
Wondering of distant friends, they beat thar heart this second.
Drinking shared thoughts, satisfied of thirst.
No time, no space, in joy.
    The magic envelope.

Eivør - Mín Móðir = My Mother

I've heard an interview with Eivør (Who is Faroese) where she said that she at the age of 12 and 13 wondered around the island recorded the very old people singing in their old ways because she was worried that these kind of songs would die out. She recorded the old ways so that we can now hear it for ourselves. I love that at lot. But of course she has moved on.

All the same...it is our heritage.

Chances are that you would have the connection...there are so many around here in the UK that traces their ancestors back to the Kelts, Nordic and Vikings. The Vikings being soldiers for defense but had to attack to defend their people. Very little is known in the mainstream, of course...they seem to glorify the aggression and war...the word Viking has nothing to do with "Kings". "Vik" means "bay"...so that would mean somebody living on the coast/bay (soldier). Compare the Icelandic name of the Capitol City Reykjavik, where "Reykja" means "Smoke" and vik is a bay...i.e. smoky bay.

There are many ways people interpret words, but being Norwegian, I use my own understanding rather . And I'm glad that you're not immediately drawn toward the gory bits...which I personally think is a hype from the ones that wanted to re-write history. No, Viking does not translate into raiding...this is what they want you to believe is the outcome of their existence. They lost the war and so the victor can tell you anything, hey? And they do...

I don't listen to this song often as it can be exhausting to deal with the eargasms which it induces.

    Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEAn9dNavT4

The guitar solo is one of the best ones ever made in this one too.

Terrible subject and lyrics though, lol. Still a great song.

"This song deals with our reaction to the homeless population. Jethro Tull vocalist and flute player Ian Anderson wrote the song and called it "a guilt-ridden song of confusion about how you deal with beggars, the homeless." Elaborating in the 40th anniversary reissue of the album, he said, "It's about our reaction, of guilt, distaste, awkwardness and confusion, all these things that we feel when we're confronted with the reality of the homeless. You see someone who's clearly in desperate need of some help, whether it's a few coins or the contents of your wallet, and you blank them out. The more you live in that business-driven, commercially-driven lifestyle, you can just cease to see them."
