And I really like this song.

He probably wouldn't have been able to pull that off without the open tuning, though. I even think he may have a couple of identical strings on there, tuned to the exact same pitch. You can hear the subtle phasing/flanging, just as with the double plain strings on a twelve-string guitar.

Don't get me wrong, though. I do think it's impressive. But he's also not the first to do that sort of thing. Run a search on Kaki King, who was already doing the same sort of thing ─ but with songs of her own ─ more than fifteen years ago.

I watched a band at a venue that my brother is playing at next Saturday that did some of that. They are called Texas Hill. They joked that they were from New Hampshire but I kinda doubt it.

My brother's band got a good ways to go before they hit this level, but they are getting better ...

. This band looked much different but it's the same trio.

For me it was Michael Hedges. I remember where I was when I heard he'd had a major head injury. Such a tragic loss. So glad he recorded.

I picked this one for the badass harp guitar (rather than for percussive playing).

I think she's got the ping pong ball nails on. My son/husband's guitar teacher told us about using pieces of ping pong balls to replace a fingernail. It makes a very similar sound.

I initially thought so too, but it's probably more like a remotely controlled toy car with a GoPro attached to it.

She obviously also took some inspiration for that song from Yvette Young.

I'm not sure if we have any Adele fans here. She just released this a few days ago. I watched it this morning. It made me tear up. It's also beautiful. The visuals and filming are very good. And I like the little bit of 'breaking the set'.

I really like the music that Young does ... this is all pretty cool stuff. I heard the new song by Adele the other day on TV. I wondered why she didn't express any pain for her child after the divorce. That was primary for me... but that's just me, of course.
