    Historical Investigation Thread - Chronology

I'm going to start this thread with a table of dates compiled from the first volume of personal notes I've organized. I'll then be posting summaries of what the chronology shown here implies in different periods, and I'd like others to contribute what they know to help move things along. My overly-ambitious goal is to eventually create a world historical narrative that is as objective as possible and that incorporates as much information as possible, including (and especially) things that are only becoming apparent to us today about our ancient past.

All dates can be considered approximate, but some are more approximate than others. Obviously modern dates will be more accurate, and the more remote dates become more and more questionable. Ranges of dates are sorted either by their earliest date or else the middle point between the two extremes of the range, depending on the type of event.

Dates that are not otherwise attributed are mostly from conventional dating techniques, such as carbon dating or dates figured out from ancient historical sources. These are also subject to error, and in some cases (especially in Egyptology) are apparently even mathematically manipulated by scholars in order to fit pre-conceived historical models. This seems to have become an accepted practice since around the 1950's when carbon dating historical artifacts first became possible, but was not conforming to already-established dating of ancient artifacts. Instead of realizing that historians had gotten things wrong, the carbon dating data was just discarded or changed. Areas outside of the influence of Egyptology apparently have not had this problem to the same extent.

The first thing I'd like to point out is the cluster of events around 10,000 BC.

There are 17 separate events represented between 9500 BC and 10,500 BC. These are from a range of sources, from Plato's famous mention of Atlantis, to modern dating of ancient meteor impact events, to events related to the end of the last "ice age," and did I mention that this same ice age also ended exactly during this period for mysterious reasons?

There are at least two major flood events recorded in history, but this time period seems to represent the most primordial memories of a global flood and general massive catastrophe. Lots of land did sink underwater after the last ice age, including Doggerland (a lot of land in northwest Europe, that allowed people to walk from Ireland to continental Europe and Scandinavia, only crossing water at rivers), the Azores Plateau region, additional land all along the east coast of the US, in Meso-America, on the north of Australia and a great land mass in Indonesia, amongst other places. We are told today that when the ice melted, ocean levels rose and put all of these places underwater.

The ice age theory itself has problems, because it seems that the north pole was actually situated over the Hudson Bay, with New York under over a mile of ice, while Siberia was temperate. Whatever caused the change in climate between these two areas was rapid enough to freeze mastodons alive in Siberia with food preserved in their stomachs. Rather than an ice age, we may be looking at some general global cataclysm that then resulted in a cooler period for as much as several hundred years, along with many other significant climactic changes.

The second general period of time in the above table I want to draw attention to mostly revolves around the Roman Empire's enemies, from about 70 AD to 800 AD.

This is the time during which Christianity is institutionalized and made into a religion. It's also the time during which the western half of the Roman Empire has seen the end of its glory days and seems to be in a constant struggle for survival from various opponents who we are usually not taught much about. This is also the period during which the King Arthur histories unfold in Britain and France, and apparently a period of early Mediterranean migration to the Americas.

When the 2nd temple in Jerusalem was destroyed, and then the Jews were banned from Jerusalem and forced to disperse, Jewish artifacts dating to this period began to appear in North America, notably the Bat Creek Stone and a depiction of the menorah on a rock in New York (the menorah actually is a symbol of a pagan deity who had an influential cult among the Jews until the 2nd temple was destroyed). The Los Lunas Boulder in the American Southwest may also be from this period but rock carvings are a challenge to date. Roman coins and other artifacts have been found at multiple sites dating from a couple of hundred years later, along the Atlantic Coast and Mississippi River and its tributaries. Around the same time as the Roman artifacts seem to have appeared in America, so did evidence of British (Welsh) inhabitants, who have been tied to the Arthurian histories by Alan Wilson. The story of Prince Madoc arriving in North America and settling in the Ohio River Valley is still a subject of discussion in that area today.

The Carthaginians and Phoenicians also left evidence of their presence in North America (Carthage was founded as a colony of Phoenicia, which was essentially a nation of sailors), and so did the Minoans, Babylonians, and likely the Egyptians (based on some interpretations of hieroglyphics related to a 3-year voyage by sea to an unknown land, and also reports of Egyptian-like artifacts found in the Grand Canyon area), but these were in earlier times.

The Carthaginians had trade routes beyond the Pillars of Hercules (Gibraltar), but it was a law at that time that any sailor who discloses these routes to foreigners would be put to death. The Carthaginian admiral Himilco wrote of sailing to an area that sounds a lot like the Sargasso Sea in the Atlantic, near the Caribbean.

In the same way that we hear so much about covert military space programs today, the ancient Europeans and Middle Easterners seem to have known about the Americas but kept them as a sort of covert operation of their own.

The Roman Empire begins to have serious problems with foreigners during this general period of time and this is an area I would like to focus on in more detail later. This is also the exact same time period of the British (Welsh) kings to which King Arthur belonged. There is a conventional acknowledgment of a "Gallic Empire" from 260 to 274, but otherwise Roman is typically portrayed as more or less maintaining law and order over Gaul and Britain. This may not really be a totally accurate perception of the situation, especially if the British histories are given credit (the British histories were later suppressed by the English who were German invaders, and later the Normans who defeated the Germanic English). The ancient British histories, according to Alan Wilson, and often surviving until today through Welsh oral traditions, is that there were intermarriages between the Roman and British imperial/royal families, and that the British were constantly causing trouble for the Romans in Britain and Gaul. When the Vandals and Gothic tribes later smashed the Roman military, constant warfare with the British may have played just as much of a role in weakening the Romans as the internal conflicts within Roman politics.

By the time that Charlemagne was crowned as the first "Holy Roman Emperor" in the year 800, this chaotic period seems to have began to to be brought under more institutional control. A new worldview was being solidified in Europe with the Carolingian Renaissance and history was already being rewritten and portrayed more or less according to Catholic doctrine in the record. Most literate people were either monks or other religious officials of the Catholic Church.

Goodness gracious me! That is an impressive chronology. I wish I could add to it. In fact, I believe I will be learning some things from it. I'm not a historian, but I know a couple. This will make for some fun conversation. I wonder if Shadowself has any input.

    Awesome work, thanks.

After the global cataclysm around 10,000 BC (9703 BC according to the Danish meteor impact study), going by legends found all over the world, we would expect that there were not many survivors, much of Earth's civilization was lost, and there would have to be a length of time for rebuilding and repopulating the Earth. The extent of the destruction and the amount of time it took to rebuild cities is difficult to gauge.

It seems that pre-historic cities after about 10,000 BC (pre-historic in the sense that they did not leave written histories) are generally the kinds of early settlements we think of when the nomadic, hunter-gatherer tribes were becoming agrarian, according to the traditional way of looking at this period. The conventional dating of the founding of the city of Jericho is all the way back to 9600 BC, but most other ancient cities we know of are given much more recent dates, which may or may not be accurate.

Many ancient sites showing sophistication were laid out on a pre-planned grid (such as Teotihuacan), or were constructed to make astronomical alignments (for example features at Machu Picchu and other South American sites), or having sewage and/or irrigation systems and other things that we think of as relatively modern conveniences. A number of these more sophisticated cities we know about might belong to this dim period between 10,000 BC and about 5000 BC, and there is sometimes direct evidence of this, as there is at Xitle, as mentioned in the table above. Much of the construction is out of stone, and stone cannot be carbon dated. Sometimes monuments marking astronomical alignments are the only clues to the time periods of these cities, thanks to the procession of the equinox. Ancient settlements from this span of time may include sites in Central and South America (Xitle, near Mexico City, Paracas, Peru, and possibly Teotihuacan), Egypt, modern-day Turkey, ruins in what is now the Karakum Desert in Turkmenistan, Ireland, and many other places.

Though most of the construction from these eras was done in stone, making carbon dating of the actual structures impossible, other items surrounding them can often be carbon dated. At this point, though, the question becomes whether or not the organic items being dated are from the original inhabitants, or a later period of habitation. And if the carbon dating of organic material at these sites is considered "too old," it's also often thrown out as contaminated or otherwise invalid by archaeologists and historians who are still trying to make everything fit the conventional narrative.

Many sites that could possibly date back to the period between about 10,000 BC and 5000 BC are generally considered to be from 4000 BC at the earliest, or more likely between around 3000 and 1500 BC or even later, for example in Central and South America, in Egypt, Turkey, Mesopotamia and India. Archaeologists are reluctant to push settlements of obvious sophistication too far back into time, because this creates serious problems for archaeologists, historians and anthropologists following the traditional historical narratives.

After about 3000 BC in Egypt in particular, the chronology of kings and dynasties and everything associated with them becomes very scrambled and incoherent. To make matters worse, this scrambled account of ancient Egyptian history is then used to sort out the histories of ancient Greece, the Hittites, Syria, and other Mediterranean and Near Eastern civilizations. This has led to the artificial creation of "Dark Ages" (such as the "Greek Dark Age") where no one can seem to figure out what was happening, because the conventional dating of events has serious problems and is off by hundreds of years in many cases. Velikovsky wrote of this in the mid 1900's, and was harshly criticized by the establishment for his views. More recently Peter James and Alan Wilson have written in detail on the same problems.

The general idea is that after the cataclysm that destroyed civilizations around 10,000 BC, including Plato's Atlantis, a certain knowledge of city planning seems to have survived for some time. Often the oldest cities in an area are not the most primitive, but rather seem to have employed construction techniques that have been lost to time, for example the "cyclopean" construction technique of using massive stones that fit together perfectly in jigsaw puzzle-like configurations. This knowledge did not continue to advance after the cataclysm but seems to have degraded in most places instead.

We must also distinguish structures from after the cataclysm with structures that were erected before the cataclysm, the most obvious candidates for which having been underwater since the end of the ice age. Examples of these sunken structures in massive stonework include the Yonaguni ruins near Japan and the Bimini Wall. The three pyramids at Giza are likely to also be pre-cataclysm, as well as Gobekli Tepe (which was intentionally buried at a later date -- possibly to protect it from a disaster that the people knew of in advance), and the pyramids in Bosnia.

Thank you for all the work you put into this BSBray. The first line immediately reminded me of things that leapt out at me as I was making notes from another source previously and I will now have to go back and review my notes and perhaps re-read material to see whether there is independent confirmation of these dates and events.

There is a lot of other dates and information that can be added to the above of course. The above is just compiled from the first few hundred pages of typed notes I've organized, from something like 10 books, a few hundred hours of radio programs (mostly Coast to Coast AM guests but also some others), some online videos/documentaries, and a lot of Internet pages.

I'm already organizing a second few hundred pages into a separate volume of person notes, and probably still have enough just right now for a third volume already too. So I'm still putting together whatever information I can find, though I'm a little overwhelmed already. Eventually I want to really bring all of this stuff together into a big picture and start tracing some broad outlines that I can write some historical books to fill in, citing all of these sources as I go.

What everything looks like to me so far is that when Atlantis existed, there were probably at least 2 other major cultures/civilizations/nations at the same time, as what people refer to today as "Mu" or "Lemuria," and "Hyperborea." The Earth was devastated by meteor impacts about 12,000 years ago, which was around 10,000 BC. This is not just according to legends but scientists have confirmed this by now. What we call the last "ice age" today ended around this same time, so it looks as if these meteor impacts had lasting climactic effects on the Earth. Whether or not there was actually an ice age as we think of it, or the Earth was actually tilted slightly on its axis so that the north pole moved from over the Hudson Bay to its current location, is up in the air for me.

Graham Hancock has a new book coming out this fall or winter that is going to be discussing research showing that not only was there a major meteor impact event around 10,000 BC, but scientists have found evidence for hundreds of impact sites related to this event where the object (or objects) broke up in the atmosphere. One chunk hit near Montana, melting an ice sheet and causing instant flooding that dug out canyons. Other pieces rained down over the Atlantic coast of the US and created the Carolina Bays, and the Caribbean was probably struck as well. I can't remember if there were any other places specifically mentioned. This event left a layer of sediment in the geologic record all over the world, including tiny pieces of diamond that indicate a very high-heat, high-pressure impact.

Somehow or another Hancock has linked this impact to the Taurids meteor shower and the celebration of Halloween. I had already come across two or three indications that Halloween originated as the memorialization of this catastrophic event, but wasn't able to find any connections that I thought were really solid connections, so I'll be looking for Hancock's next book to see what he's figured out about it. What we call Halloween today was an important celebration to the ancient "Celtic" tribes called Samhain, which to them was a remembrance of the dead and considered the day during which the spirits of the dead were closest to the living. The Taurids meteor shower happens at precisely this same time of year, which would suggest that we actually travel through the debris cloud of the impacts that destroyed Atlantis, every year. And this may be the ancient origin of the celebration of Halloween. It would make things a bit more eery wouldn't it?

I've also come across lots of anecdotal accounts, mostly from channelers, such as Edgar Cayce and Bashar, and so this is of course harder to verify, that Atlantis was not totally innocent in its destruction and may have brought its destruction upon itself in some respect. I'm not sure how to interpret that, but the assertions are there. Cayce and Bashar both talk about Atlantis splitting into rival factions that had different goals and were in conflict with each other. Cayce says that one group (something like the "Children of Belial" if I remember correctly) were using "night-side of life" energy destructively, that they used a lot of crystal technology, upset the energy systems of the Earth, and so somehow in this way brought upon their own destruction. Even the idea that asteroids can be weaponized can't be totally ruled out as far as I'm concerned, as far-out as that seems.

As far as where exactly Atlantis was, according to Plato, Atlantis was a maritime power that had colonies, beyond the Pillars of Hercules. It was a large island but apparently not North America, as Plato also seems to have made reference to North America being beyond Atlantis. My guess would personally be something like the Azores Plateau or the Mid-Atlantis Ridge area that may have been above water during the last ice age (I'll attach an image of what that looked like below). This civilization very likely extended along the coasts of North, Central and South America, and was in the Caribbean. Edgar Cayce predicted that the first remains of Atlantean civilization would be discovered around 1968, and this is exactly when divers in the Bahamas discovered the Bimini Wall, which is a massive wall stone underwater. There were civilizations from this same time period in many other parts of the world, but I think this moves into the realm of these other ancient civilizations such as Mu (which may have been a cultural spread from the Pacific Ocean all the way into India and even Turkey), and Hyperborea (which seems to have been in the very northern parts of Europe, ie Scandinavia, Russia and maybe even Greenland). I'm sure the situation back then was very complex, but we just have very little to go off of.

This is an image of what the Atlantic Ocean would look like with lower water levels, as scientists say was the case around 10,000 BC and the entire previous ice age.

Plato said that Athens was at war with Atlantis when the catastrophe occurred, and that the Athenians were proud to be one of the last powers of that region to be holding out against the Atlanteans. Plato said the source of this information was the Egyptian priesthood. Egypt itself may have been colonized by Atlantis. The eastern Mediterranean seems to have been a meeting point of three different cultures, as the Greeks knew of both the Hyperboreans (which means "beyond the north wind" in Greek) and the Atlanteans, and Gobekli Tepe may even represent a Lemurian connection. In the thread here on TOT about the Easter Island statues having bodies, you can see that they share stylistic similarities with Urfa Man from Gobekli Tepe in Turkey, and also a script found on Easter Island matches the Mohenjo-Daro script from ancient Pakistan. I think this likely represents some kind of cultural spread related to what we call Lemuria or Mu, from the Pacific Ocean through Asia, and may be something distinct from Atlantean culture, but this is all very hard to verify for obvious reasons.

So these are the general ideas I'm working with as far as Atlantis goes at this time. I'd be interested in how any of this compares and contrasts with what others have found regarding this, and any other evidence or information that can contribute to this picture.

Topographical maps circulated today give no indication of this region of shallowness in the mid-atlantic;so it seems that there information to suggest a shallow area in the mid-atlantic?

I once heard a rumor that a collision occured involving a meteor or comet right where your map places a land mass but I never dug into it.

There is apparently some controversy in academic circles as to what the Mid-Atlantic Ridge's geology consists of and what was there in the ancient past, because the theory conventionally given does not explain various features of the sea floor in that region that indicate that it was above water in the not-too-distant past. For example there is coral that must be near the surface to grow, as well as hardened lava that was formed above-water, and continental sediment.

There is a page here that details all of this:

There are several articles on the formation of the Azores islands which speak of it: the Atlantis books by Otto Muck and Zhirov both record some of the subsidences, many of which are marked by corals which need to grow near the surface now found at depths of 2-3 kilometers down or more. ALL of these subsidences must date to a process beginning at the end of the Ice Age because in some cases the volcanic rock would degrade over a longer length of time. We also have the remnants of the lava from this last event strewn over the entire North Atlantic floor and the layer is directly datable to the end of the Ice Age, and the sediment covering the stratum is of Holocene (Postglacial) age.

The really major part of the evidence is that it was initially assumed that all of the midocean ridges of the world were generating seafloor spreading by means of active magma chambers down the middle. Further investigations turned up the odd fact that while the East Pacific rise has a proper domed-up cross setional profile the Mid-Atlantic ridge does NOT: it has a caved-in profile with once again a subsidence of 2-3 kilometers indicated. And most recently of all came the big shock: The Mid-Atlantic ridge has blown out nearly its entire magma reserve and the magma chamber under it is nearly empty and nearly completely inactive. The magma chambers on the mid-ocean ridghes are typically located about 3 kms down as determined by soundings: blowing out the chamber would logically lower the ridge 3 kms as well.

One source you can give is:

    http://frontiers-of-anthropology.blo...d-geology.html

The paper linked to is pretty technical and most of it goes over my head. But the quote above offers a summary of it. It looks like the idea is that the evacuation of magma chambers underneath this mountain ridge (which is the longest in the world, all the way down the Atlantic Ocean) caused the mountains above them to also subside even further underwater, if I am interpreting this correctly.

In the table above you'll see a reference to a Maria Klionova (who I assume is a geologist) determining that one mountain in this range was above water around 13,000 BC. I got this information out of a French book from 1969, and this kind of research is a relatively new field of study itself, so while there are some "preferred" theories in academic circles, there is no consensus, and there are significant problems with or holes in the typical theories, as I described above.

Yeah, topological maps give in the class room setting depict a rather even depth across the atlantic. They toss in the idea of a tectonic type ridge-line at the ocean floor to support that scientific line of inquiry. Let it be said, even while it is perfectly obvious, that sometimes scientific theories are created and left unchallenged so that they can be shared. The theory of evolution and its presumption of "random" dna mutations is one. Nobody bothered to see just how random these mutations are, so that part of it flies. I bet nobody is willing to fund a study that would examine randomness either.

I know there are extensive and accurate maps in existence, sonar mapping to keep submarines from running into things when they dead-head in their stealth mode require it. That information is secret I bet.

Sonar is known to cause whales to beach themselves, for some reason. This was seen in florida and the gulf of Mexico (http://www.collective-evolution.com/...ke-action-now/). And it also stands to reason that the "crazing effect" of sonar would be much greater if there where also echos of the original signal being heard by the water going mammals.

Echo being reflections of the original signal that bounce of something solid. My speculation would go so far as to suggest that these echos did exist, else we would see beached whales in the lower atlantic, pacific and indian oceans as well. Do we have evidence of beached whales in other stretches of ocean? I can't recall of such evidence in the news. Maybe the sonar volume was turned up all the way to get a reading of something more distant, something unknown. That isn't evidence, but sound reasoning of these circumstances do suggest a reasonable possibility for the existence of some type of land structure below the surface.

I originally paraphrased this bit about sonar that may not be so obvious to those who aren't familiar with it. Sonar is a sonic signal being based on "pings" emitted at an interval defined as a prime multiple (2,3,5,7, 11) of a base signal. Sonar does not work well if multiples are non-prime numbers because of ambiguities that arise while trying to calculate the time lapse between the broadcast of the signal to when the echo is heard. So, sonar uses prime multiple of the base signal so that when the echo is heard, computers can calculate this time lapse without needing a secondary analytical evaluation that may introduce errors.

Prime numbers in nature are used by locust, for example, locust-fests occur unpredictably because of that prime number aspect found in the relation between one fest to another. That disrupts patterns of regularity and as such is a measure against predators who would otherwise feed on them. This same type of unpredictability may be very unnatural and craze inducing for animals that depend on "pings" for spacial awareness, orientation and other such social interactions.

EDIT: after more research it's not clear to me that echos are actually required. The phenomena of beached whales has occurred in the pacific and other places. 3khz is known to panic whales. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marine_mammals_and_sonar) I don't know that this line of reasoning supports the hypothesis of shallow regions in the atlantic any longer.
