How the new Art Bell Show Works

long-time technical wizard, keith rowland, who has carried the flame
while art bell waited out his siriusxm 'no compete' clause,
discusses how the new 'midnight in the desert' show will work.

    it sounds complicated : )

Sounds like he's just talking about the technicalities of running a live radio show from the engineering/production end of things.

I can't wait for Art's new show. I used to listen to Coast to Coast AM almost every night, but George Noory has lost his edge and I'm convinced he's not even listening to his guests half of the time, with the way he jumps from question to question as if he's daydreaming behind the mic. When Art Bell left, it was bought by Clear Channel, which is an arm of the propaganda machine. That's why John B. Wells got fired from Coast to Coast and opened his own radio show, Caravan to Midnight.

One cannot fully appreciate the termination of host John B. Wells as the “Saturday night guy” on Coast without having some understanding of the corporate structure which came to dominate the show when Art Bell relinquished control of the show.

Premiere distributes Coast to Coast for its parent company Clear Channel Communications. Clear Channel has a long and well-known history of censorship and extreme retaliation for those who do not abide by the corporate line.

Clear Channel was once a major supporter of the George W. Bush candidacy for President and they tolerated no dissension within the ranks. They were responsible for the dramatic fall of the Dixie Chicks for espousing their anti-war views with regard to the war in Iraq. And in a case of extreme censorship, with regard to a case that I have some firsthand and personal knowledge of, a popular Phoenix talk show host, Charles Goyette was blackballed by Clear Channel for similar anti-war views. Charles was actually dismissed from KFYI radio when he was the number one radio personality in Arizona and the entire Southwest. When it comes to these corporate entities, having great ratings does not insulate one from being fired. Popular talk show hosts are expected to be the guardian of the corporate gate and as you will soon read, Wells is an oracle who quotes Voltaire and tells the truth, but he was a poor night watchman of the corporate controlled gate. Wells discovered that deviating from the company line (i.e. telling the truth) shortens the professional life expectancy of its top entertainers.

Art Bell was on Wells' side in that whole episode as well. Then of course Art was basically kicked off of his SiriusXM show and not allowed to make any other radio show until his contract with them expired.

actually, he quite SXM and had to suffer the ensuing legalities.
    it was his decision.

like you, it'll be great to have him back.

Great news...I agree CTC has lost it's edge...I do not want to hear another story of ghosts, Roswell or life after death. Can someone tell me what the back story is about why SXM didn't work. Can be long story short I don't want all the blow by blow but I am guessing he wanted guests on that they did not agree to. No or yes?

several factors contributed to art breaking his SXM contract:

    - subscriptions weren't going great.

    - the show was being heavily pirated (thus the poor subscription rate)

    - the smaller than expected audience was not contributing much during open-line times.

    - there were complaints of poor audio. SXM didn't respond or seem to care.

    - art wanted to try delivering his shows from his website and SXM said a big 'no.'

    - art quickly realized the SXM experiment had failed, saw the writing on the wall and pulled the plug ; )

    did I miss anything?

sounds like they have a good game plan, this time around. can't wait...

I for one will subscribe to show my support and also so I can listen at other times. I think they said about 5 bucks or so and I think that is reasonable. Hope he has some very cutting edge out there guests and no ghost or life after death or some UFO crash that happened 50 years ago. Hey, John Titor may call in again. Just heard the original John Titor interview that was so cool.

I refreshed my memory and it turns out that both bsbray and I were right:

art halted his show over streaming quality issues.
while negotiating with SXM to stream live free shows from his website,
SXM, without warning, replaced dark matter with C2C.

anyhow, here's the interview the clears all of that up.

later, listen to art lay into george noory. wow.

George Noory calls into the GabCast and discusses apparent libel threats he's made towards them.

Go to the 1:45:00 mark and start listening. He's the next caller into the program.

Like they said on BellGab, Noory had a big pair to call in there and talk to them after all they had said about him. After listening to him I thought to myself, George is a decent guy. He might not give the best interviews but I think he means well. But someone in his network does not mean well. They're ultimately owned by Clear Channel, and John B. Wells being fired is evidence enough of censorship. I think George is just convenient for them because he won't stand up for ideals when they do something wrong. He just goes along with whatever.

At around the 31 min mark, Art says there isn't weather control and that airplanes brought down the towers on 911.
