Looks like a giant sphere. And it looks like light reflects off one side of it. I can't recall if I've seen anything similar in other shots from these types of cameras.

For those who cannot access the video from daily star (like me).
It's probably this video from youtube:

I'm not a camera expert but this is a very round lens. The circular object is symmetrical but I wonder what it would look like without that circular lens.

It does not appear to be lens flare - and the smaller lighted objects cause a reflection on each side of the sphere's surface. Very interesting whatever it is.

    It's a lens artefact.

I suspect quite a few observers would have noticed it if it were something real in the sky.

No one here has mentioned, but the video has been slowed down. We've all seen shooting stars and the move much faster than that.

I don't agree with this, it is off center of the lens. Where as your argument would put it in the center of the lens.

Add also the reflection on the object from the meteor.

The meteor was seen widely over Ireland. Was there a single naked-eye report of a huge stationary object reflecting or illuminated by the meteor?

Domestic quality security cameras are optimised for daylight and good artificial night-time illumination. Any number of internal artefacts could give this effect.

    Occam's Razor and all that...

Come on all you photography experts on the forum - your input is required. Is it likely to be some huge object suspended in the atmosphere that no one has detected which is reflecting light from the meteor, or some simple shortcoming in the camera's optics?

You make some good points, but the lens flare type arguments do not work for me all the time. It is nice argument for many nay-sayers out there, it tends to be the catch-all solution for everything now a days.

    To each their own

I'm gonna try to find some other shots from similar cameras. I've never noticed a sphere 'artifact' before from these types of cameras. I imagine it would appear smaller in a regular camera (if it appeared).

Think about it !! If there was an object this big in the stratosphere don't you think astronomers, weather stations, satellites and many other systems would know of it presents, not to mention the geographic anomalies that would be popping off everywhere on earth due to the magnetic effects of an object this big in our solar system.
