Zahi Hawass Storms out of Debate with Graham Hancock before it Begins

    Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Ziu2ygE_Wc

    Published on Apr 23, 2015
For more than a year the encounter that took place at the Mena House Hotel, Giza Egypt, on 22 April 2015 between famed Egyptologist Dr Zahi Hawass and controversial alternative historian Graham Hancock, had been billed as"the first open debate between the representatives of two completely different versions of history." On the night of the event, however, as Graham Hancock was focussing his slides prior to giving his opening presentation, and before most of the audience had even entered the room, Dr Hawass saw that one slide contained a photograph of Hancock’s colleague Robert Bauval, originator of the Orion correlation theory with whom Dr Hawass has had disagreements for many years. Dr Hawass immediately became furiously angry and began to shout at Hancock and at Hancock’s wife Santha (Santha is wearing the white dress in the video). Hawass demanded that Hancock censor his talk to remove all references to Robert Bauval and the Orion correlation theory. When Hancock explained that the alternative view of history that he was on stage to represent could not exclude the Orion correlation and therefore could not exclude Robert Bauval, Dr Hawass, again shouting, marched out of the debating room. One member of the audience who was present managed to record part of Dr Hawass’s meltdown which is the subject of this video.

Meanwhile, as the audience began to arrive, frantic negotiations took place off stage between the conference organisers and Dr Hawass. Finally Dr Hawass agreed to return and give his talk and answer questions from the audience, but he refused absolutely to hear or see Hancock’s talk, or to engage in any debate with Hancock. Hancock therefore gave his talk to the audience without Dr Hawass present (Dr Hawass sat in a room outside the conference hall while Hancock spoke). When Hancock had finished he answered questions from the audience. Then Dr Hawass entered, gave his talk, answered questions from the audience and left. During Dr Hawass’s Q&A he was asked a question about the 11,600-year-old megalithic site of Gobekli Tepe in Turkey and whether it had any impact on his assessment of the disputed age of the megalithic Great Sphinx of Giza (which Hancock and others have theorised may be of similar antiquity). Unfortunately it appeared that Dr Hawass was completely ignorant of the existence or implications of Gobekli Tepe so he was unable to answer the question, which he passed on to the moderator who also happened to be an Egyptologist and whose knowledge of Gobekli Tepe was also clearly incomplete (for example the moderator stated that Gobekli Tepe dates from the “late eleventh millennium BC through the tenth millennium BC” whereas in fact the dates presently established for Gobekli Tepe are from 9600 BC through 8200 BC, i.e. from 11,600 years ago to 10,200 years ago). Hancock did at that point have a brief opportunity to stand up and give his own point of view on Gobekli Tepe and on its implications for the age of the Sphinx, and this video can be viewed below

I remember when I read in the news that Hawass had been kicked out of his position as minister of antiquities when the coups were still going on in Egypt.

    That made me happy.

The man is pretty obviously a criminal, if you look at his past in regards to finds in Egypt.

In my view, if he can't stay to debate he doesn't have a firm stance. But he's Egyptian. Being questioned and second guessed is nearly unbearable. It's probably too much for his ego. He says the question is closed because he closed it. To debate is to admit being wrong. It's shameful. That's part of why he's so outraged when Graham says "Shame on you."

A good friend of mine was a researcher in weed science and he was eternally frustrated by any men from the Middle East (or N. Africa). He couldn't train them because they were insulted by any suggestion that they might not know something. He constantly had to couch his training in phrases like, "Of course you already know this, but my job says I have to show you how this works..."

The ego in those parts of the world is at acute disease level.

How in the he!! can you call yourself an archaeologist and not know what/where Gobekli Tepe is??? Especially with its huge implications of how far back it possibly pushes the oldest known megalithic site. You would think all "archaeologists" would want to stay "in the know" of new finds that impact their field of "expertise" but I guess some just live in their own little world of reality.

    Sheesh!

Hey. They have diplomas they paid for saying they are archaeologists. Too bad they weren't made of softer paper so they could serve a purpose.

David Wilcock has a series on Gaiam TV that covers a lot of this stuff. His guests have included Graham Hancock, Robert Bauval, John Anthony West, Andrew Collins, and Laird Scranton. You can see the topics at http://www.disclosuretruth.com. They go into great detail on all the Egypt info (including the history of Zawi Hawass), Gogekli Tepi, the Dogon group in Africa, and a lot more. I know that Wilcock has a lot of haters out there, but IMHO this show is outstanding! It is David doing what David does best!

I believe Gaiam has an offer of free access for 10 days or 99cents for the first month or something. David has information on his website www.divinecosmos.com. I signed up and pay the $10/month. To me it is well worth the cost for the outstanding information and interviews and to help support David financially.

Hawass displays the body language and fear of someone very insecure with his own theories. So much so that he hates any opposition and simply denies it to even enter his consciousness. If it does not fit into the model he has boxed himself into in his own paradigm for reality? He can't accept it, won't accept and is simply 'WORTHLESS' to us as a society for the study he pursues. The fact that he cannot step outside his own boxed in reality combined with that diva mentality makes him very dangerous to give anything to that is outside the box in the way of evidence. So I ask you, with people like that Hawass and others in his field, who will sooner hide something away if not destroy it when it doesn't fit in their boxed in view of the world cannot be trusted with finds in the very digs they take part in so why do we employ them as a people?

They should all be fired immediately starting with Hawass !
