    Electrolux Bio Robot Refrigerator

"Russian student Yuriy Dmitriev came up with the Bio Robot Refrigerator which uses a “biopolymer gel through luminescence” to keep its food cold. This device doesn’t look like a normal fridge with a door and separate compartments. The Bio Fridge would be made of a lime-green-colored odorless non-sticky gel that literally morphs around each item placed into the fridge."

Please keep in mind that in the above video, it is just a prototype, not a working model.

Would you like to see this in your kitchen in the future? Do you think you can come up with a better idea for a futuristic fridge?

    Congelation ice blocks

They were actually used as late as 1970 in Swedens capitol Stockholm.

The usually gathered the ice blocks in February-March when the ice was thickest.
In some places, they even plowed the ice to get thicker blocks.
They stored it on sawdust and straw to make it last as late as in august during the summer, usually the hottest month in Sweden.

There were even a specifik train that delivered ice from northern part of Sweden, even if Stockholm itself was surrounded by water.

So it was actually pretty big business between 1940-1970.

I know this is totally unrealistic... but I would take that every day over that Kermit colored ...thing (but that's just me)

EDIT: .. just wanted to add, I'm very interested in new technology... I think it was that color that spooked me....

Yep, the ice blocks were also big for business here in America back in the 30s-40s and earlier until someone came up with refrigeration.

I can see why you may be put off by the color, I admit the color reminds me of boogers.. Not sure how I feel about pushing a ripe banana in a layer of green goo, is it gonna get smushed? I wonder how easy would it be to clean if something spoils inside the device, I'd imagine it would be a challenge and time consuming.

Yes, you will know it's something strange going on when it reverse the decay process of the banana and it restore itself to its former glory.

However, I tried to find some more info about that future gel/bio gel. I'm a tiny bit suspicious about that, what surprise they have for us in that...but just a tiny bit. The only thing I could find was that it is bio-nano robots....hmmmm

Interesting concept but I am not seeing how the entire contents of my fridge would fit in that space as shown. My entire current section containing vegetables/fruit would almost fill it up without anything else.

Also, how does a full head of lettuce or cauliflower fit for example?

It also looks too "messy" for me, LOL. I like everything put away & no clutter on surfaces. I think every time I looked at it I would be having a compulsion to "tidy up".
