Carbon Leaf has a song about the devil and the deep blue sea...

"And the devil has a smile, and the devil has a smile
And it's thorny and it's wild, and it grows so deep inside
And you try to swim away, but the devil calls his play
Deep blue sea, deep blue sea, deep blue sea."

It's a great song and a great band!

You guys catch this one? lmao....although I'm not sure what's funnier...the guys obituary or the silly advertisement I was forced to watch before of Goldman Sachs saintly claim of helping business' with their financial growth, rofl...if that isn't an oxymoron I don't know what is.....It reminds me of the Khan Academy commercial sponsored by Bank of America, in which they proceed to tell you that the point of their joint mission with Khan is to teach you how to manage money. Really....so a bank that's failed to comply with AML laws (Anti-money laundering laws), is now going to teach/sponsor the public in how to manage money....Can I sign up?

    EDIT TO ADD:
Now I suppose someone's going to come online and say they're a student at Khan....oh dear....

    Hi Tonz:

You said: I remember last time when obama was about to win his first presidency, the general saying in the u.s. even from opposition voters , was put into a phrase and i quote : '' we would vote in a black man long before a woman'' .

I am nearing 50 years old on this american soil, and I do not recall ever hearing or seeing that comment. In 2008, admittedly, I was unawake, very, very unawake, but was really surprised that Obama beat out the old gal back then. But I did follow the news religiously.

I had to. . .my friends were all polysci majors and soooo democratic. ..Here's how unawake I learned the hard way (was stupid and not politically informed). In the early 90s, I was at an NC democratic party in the state capitol on election night (governor). A woman told me that she so admired Hillary Clinton as a woman and asked me who I admired. . .I replied, Barbara Bush. . .she really wears those pearls well. . .(What an idiot I was!!!) I didn't even remember that Barbie was Republican. . .my friends told me to set my solo cup of white wine down and exit promptly!!!

I just think all issues about race and gender and sexual orientation are promoted to antagonize folks. My two cents. (and I only have 2

It was from where i remember on street surveys during the obama verses clinton campaigns , many said the same thing and or hinted towards that , many stated that in there opinion the u.s. wasn't ready for a female president.
People were speaking in common levels, discussions on the street and in cafes.

I found it to be absurd ,but then again i found it well, normal to the degree that the u.s. has been so very male dominated throughout its history and to this very day .Its a collective psychological thing , but at the same time no different than it is in most places around the world.
But then again look at Australia for eg. We have had an opposite , female Prime minister thats ok,
but a black one !, we are a long way off that , as this is not my opinion ,just a clear observation.

I just think all issues about race and gender and sexual orientation are promoted to antagonize folks. My two cents. (and I only have 2
And with my 1/2 cent worth I can only and totally agree with you on that one.!

First Gentleman? Laughing painfully now. Can we get him to wear the kinds of suits Hillary wears?

I really wish there was another woman heading towards this historic step.

But look at the shameful, IMO, conduct towards the first black President: Refusing to call him President or Commander in Chief; Outright stating that the goal is to make him a "one-term President". What an embarrassing lack of vision. No purpose anymore except to oppose anything liberal and blame all our problems on whatever the liberal (translate socialist) label can be hung on.

Many years ago my spouse met a man who was the vice president of the Republican Party in our state. He advised, "Embrace stereotypes. They'll set you free."

    From what? Thought? Understanding?

My brother straight-out says, "I don't have time to think. I don't have time to listen."

He doesn't need to think at all, he "knows" why Hillary and the Democrats are all bad.

    Except he doesn't at all.

I don't think Hillary is a good choice. Where is the choice? The opposition is just as insane. The parties have a stranglehold on getting in. We continue to engage in fake reform and screwing up the voting process instead of dealing with the FEC, Federal Elections Commission, which is so politicized it's a joke.

It's probably too late, but I think a good policy would be to require a year of civil service out of school so people can see first hand what the government does and what their stake is.
