Or parents that neglect to notice the friends older kids have been sexually abusing their young children.
Or the 100's of thousands of male babies that were circumcised and have no idea where their trauma came from.
Or even the millions of parents who teach their children that magic is just a disappoint by lying to them about Santa and Fluffy Bunny.

Some of the stuff people would put at the top of the list as being 'bad' are actually identifiable, which ought mean they are able to be over come. Other stuff, I can even hear people sniggering about now, is not considered, therefore you can't fix what is unknown or repressed.
We can't forgive that which we don't identify. Does it still have an effect on psyche? I am sure it can. And it will be ridiculed as nothing, even by those who would offer compassion on other instances.
So, if there is a positive, which is always the aim to seek, surely.. the positive is when one can identify their particular trauma, then they can overcome it. But, well plenty don't want to it seems. They will let resentment become part of their motivation. I have seen many many people who claim to have over come their demons, but often they have just repressed them or dressed them up as reasons to feel validated for other behaviours.
    and it is all tragic...

Upon reflecting on this it brought to mind and created a 'momentary' sense of guilt to realize I was far from the perfect parent...though foremost in my mind at literally every second of raising my daughter I kept all of this in mind.

Her mother was a classic example of being 'invalidated' by her parents...her dad was the typical male father figure...sometimes their designated role was to invalidate. Her mother on the other hand was a diagnosed bipolar, paranoid personality disordered. And I tried to make my daughter's mother aware of what was happening. Links, books, pleading...all of the above, but she simply could not conceive of any thought beyond she was the 'perfect' mother. I cried in despair.

When my daughter was little she would have these outrageous bursts of temper over what I thought were 'trivial' matters, it wasn't that I was unsympathetic but to me, she was so cute in these outbursts that I had to laugh...my most egregious of personality defects...under stress, confusion, even active nothinging I will start laughing...yeah, it's weird and it has caused me a lot of grief...especially with the patrolling 'man'. It was wrong.

It got to the point if anyone 'laughed' when my little baby was expressing herself she would start crying from hurt. I had made a vow when she was an infant that I would ease and comfort her to the point that she would never need to cry. I failed...but I spent much time trying to help her understand why people laughed when she said stuff...it was because of a variety of 'positive' impressions of her...high ideals, cuteness, of course, admiration, vision, ambition...everything that I could think of at the moment.

She is now a very strong individual...she learned that from her mother...so strong that I often worry that she is lacking empathy...she isn't (I hope) but she is very cool in a crisis which she has demonstrated on two ocassions very recently...I wanted to instill empathy and caring in her...but because of her steel fiber I've always believed she would make a great surgeon (yeah, typical parent). She is now considering that as a secondary road...

Watching again and realizing it is like a comedy show as much as a spiritual growth show, lots of laughter.

It was quite funny and animated Aianawa. I could even listen to it this time, other times he's spoken too slowly and I've had to pull the pin. Though I haven't finished watching yet, stuff has to be really good to warrant time. Comedy comes from pet peeves for instance, being things many of us can relate to. One of the rules of comedy huh.

Had to laugh at the supermarket checkout. It's okay to have irrational stubbornness. He really has come out of himself and can deliver his message now.

His comment about his message from mother at 51.44 was an example of what I see as common sense, as how life and after life works. Good to hear others say.

Brilliant Vern..."The more they know, the more separate they feel." Have you noticed how happy people with Down-syndrome are feeling all the time...they are truly happy and connected. (IMO) And HOW important is it really to know so much with your mind only...hey?

I'll have to take time to go through the whole video...

ouch, this guy is touching...so evocative of poignancy.

The feelings he invokes are feelings I've tried to jettison for so many years of my life...it's tough listening for me...
