I nearly fell off my perch (no, not my porch).

A kookaburra nicked me sausage! I bet it laughed its head off too.

Yeeeeah the bugger got me good, but through every adventure a hearty sense of humor is good to help you get past those sausage moments.

But One of which was yet to come , anyway , we had to say good by to the 75 mile 4x4 nomads beech , and prepare for the journey inland tracks towards the lake, sounds great ,but i knew if were going to have trouble with our loaded suv it would be on this ride .for now goodbye beautiful ''east coast'' Frazier island

    Lake McKenzie

Well so far so good and a gorgeous cleansing in the fresh water lake like an oasis here on the island, the turquoise blue water is deep and cold, for me one of the life source places that the island depends on .

Well it was finally time to go but it wasn't long before we got into trouble , the trails at times got so deep we were like a turtle bellywacking all the way with our wheels hardly touching the ground , we certainly flattened out the trail for others along the way until we inevitability got stuck !!. a group of tourist with 5 4x4s were helping us , every one out to push like about ten people and one 4x4 with the snatch rope , as we got snatched out a girl pushing( i think Canadian) well ,we flew out of our predicament so fast she fell flat on her face in the sand, poor thing, aaah the canadians are such good sports! she eat sand for us and we were so very grateful , the crew kept with us till we got to an easier path and we bidded farewell ,well we were so grateful to these people even though we did some serious damage to our vehicle we managed to crawl to the barge with a damaged drive shaft, damaged bearing in the aircon pump ,rocks and tree trunk bits jammed into our frount brake system but we made it to the barge. an un modified xtrail is not tough enough for some these tracks .

strange attachment here but its ok , this place below is called Dingo beach about 20 klm away with about a 4 mtr.fall in tide its a pleasure exploring the critters and life that hangs around till the next tide. Its named after the obvious as this has been a hunting ground for the dingo since perhaps its existence as the dingo can fish in the puddles they can also take advantage of kangaroo at times usually in the early mornings, it is strange to see kanga on the beach but often they take refuge and food from the grass areas along the seaside.

We did find a corner fairly protected and did a bit of a snorkel , there were some giant clams assorted fish and colours and some beautiful coral ,it was a lovely day , not spectacular but a really nice one non the less.Take note no sand only coral!

Thanks stoat,It was such a shame that we could only get to this island (daydream) as it was close as the weather wasn't in our favor with tremendous winds stiring the Whitsunday Passage to the point almost to stop all boating , we only had 3 days in the area so our time was running out to get a good dive or even snorkel . Out from here the access to the outer reef was a 3 hour journey,a cost of just under $1000 for the day to only have the mrs and family green, messing up the floor of the boat to only be out there for 2 hours then to return in an equally turbulent trip home , didn't seem worth the investment for the family traveling on a shoe string, no to mention the not so good memories that would have prevailed.

Airley beech has much to offer for all types of travelers , those who seek thrills and spills and those that love the prestige boating and yachting , to those backpacking on there way through . It is surrounded with lush tropical rain forests and a touristic but interesting village that is big enough to find all you need. The access to the many islands and reefs is its most favorable blessings but it scenery without the islands is also splendid in it's self.

No 4x4 driving allowed hmmmm ,Almost Paradise then, I knew the place was to good to be true! No 4 wheel driving most uncivilized !

That would be a pleasure Calz , i imagine you dont eat much , and if the sea is rough well ,,,your green anyway, nobody would notice you being a little peculiar in appearance. Tips welcome!
