I used to think I didn't have too many reasons to be happy. Then I started taking a serious look at my blessings and thinking about how my life could be worse and I found that I have quite a lot of reasons to be happy. It also gave me pause to think about how well-off I am and how well-off most of my brothers and sisters on this planet are and whether there is anything I can do to help them.

TOT has always made room for light hearted uplifting threads and will continue to do so , we have a diverse mixture of everything , if this thread is not to your taste than please find threads that are !aside of the entries here and back to the OP...attitudes adjustment in favour of light entertainment, is that what was meant?

I've been a professional musician most of my life. Panic attacks and performance anxiety occur each time I perform, and yet music is a part of me that cannot be denied. Except for the very few, it is not a very good source of income...trust me. Long hours practicing, rehearsing and having to use it in multiple ways (ie teaching, solo work, band work, conducting choruses, etc) to earn just enough to support myself and my son.Originally posted by Elbie

child disrespect comes to mind..i didn't want to term it 'abuse' cos abuse is used for much more severe instances..although i think this is a form of child abuse.

Light entertainment indeed... Music has a way of touching people deep inside, bypassing blockages and touching their very souls. Have you never heard of music therapy and how it heals? How it is used to help those facing death, or alzheimers, or deep depression and more? To hear an alzheimers patient sing each and every word to a song when they can't even remember who they are is life affirming...a moment of clarity for them...a precious smile...a gift both given and received. When you can touch a person's life, even for a brief ten minutes or so, it brings such joy to both the listener and the performer.
The child in that video had the chance to share himself and his gift with others, overcoming a brief moment of panic. That takes courage...and I say bravo to him! For most of us, the difficulty lies in the fact of wanting the music to be the focus and not yourself...once the self-consciousness is tamed, the music can speak.
Music is my joy...my happiness...especially in the sharing with others. It is a gift I am ever thankful for, no matter how unappreciated it may be by some.
