Hi 777 i caught 2 black flies quite by accident in my lemon juice/water drink, it was in a fairly large jar and i guess they couldnt get out and drowned!

pooh! ,they like pooh .place some around and when you think they are all present ,smash the ****e out of them.
horse dung is ok too.
or if you feel guilty ,place dung on a cardboard,and when you have them thriving over it put a box over them and transport them to your local town hall and release them in more suitable surroundings.

Mix bicarbonate soda and powdered sugar, leave the mixture on the ants' path. They will eat it as its sweet but the soda will cause acidic reaction inside. They will take this sweet stuff in their nests as well. Seems cruel but this is the only way I managed to get rid or them, they were taking over my house last summer.

Use plants. Hang nettles upside down from doorways and grow mint plants by them too. The mint repels them. You can achieve similar results by filling a spray bottle with peppermint oil and perfumer's alcohol (or water, but shake it before you spray it). Spray this to stop them wanting to land. Spray it around the room to make the air repugnant to them

I assume you don't want an anteater? :P

Ants form trails by laying down chemical signals. Disrupt the chemical signals and any ants following the trail will turn around and leave. You can use clove oil for this. Cinnamon too.

I lived in a very old house once, more than 100 years old the house was. In the fall and in the spring, I would get infested with black flies in three windows of the house. In the fall, the flies would come in the house by some cracks to fall asleep for the winter. They would wake in the spring and infest infested the windows. Every day, I would vacuum them away.... gross! What was efficient was sticky fly traps... never thought I would have this in my home, but I did.... every fall and spring.

Find the entrance, block it off.... could be a challenge. Good luck.

For ants, I use lavender essential oil or citronella. A couple of drops in water and I spray the floor edge of the door (that's where they come in).

To the best of my experience there is a product called Jeyes fluid it is in concentrate form mix with a little water and spray it liberally around the window and inside the house, everyone on my allotment has used this method for years, I swear by this product we also clean our greenhouse every year just before spring doing this keeps all insects at bay, it can even clean the soil before planting, but you cant plant for 6 weeks afterword's, also there is something even stronger and very natural it is an ayurvedic oil called neem oil, please look them up on line I think you will find that any of them will solve your problem, hope this helps also I do hope that I am not advertsing these products, that is not my intention, I simply want to help.

I wouldnt mind an anteater, they are cute- but then would need to toilet train it!
