Dumpster, you live in Sedona? My direct co-worker lived in Snowflake during his high school years, his dad was a Canadian ambassador that lived in a number of places and his mother is American. He said he knows Travis Walton.

We like Oak Creek Canyon which is over the pass from Sedona. We used to go there when we were kids. We went on Slide Rock. I think it's somewhat restricted these days.

I would never consider speaking about my private life with a stranger(s). Also, people's relationships with their parents leak into their language in communications. So, it is there for the listening/reading.

I make videos to avoid the poor form of communication writing text in a forum is. Anyone who has listened to my hundreds of videos would know I transitioned to adult intact from the gauntlet we all must pass through as children. I subscribe to "we pick our parents" and I do not regret the choices made.

yeah, that makes sense, actually. I hope I did pick my situation at least that would lend meaning, purpose, and direction. Anything beyond a failure of bureaucracy. I'm not suggesting it was horrific, not by any means, but plenty dysfunctional in terms of emotional intelligence and the ability to impart emotional security. Much of it was not within human control.

...umm, Oak Creek and it’s canyon goes right thru the middle of Sedona. The Tlaquepaque Arts ‘Village’ is where hwy 179 crosses Oak Creek in Sedona.

...and Slide Rock is now a State Park north on Hyw 89A where you can enjoy swimming in the creek after paying a fee to get in.

Well, we’re outside of Sedona proper, but our Postal address says Sedona.

I’ve not been to Snowflake yet but I see that town was founded by two Mormon families, the Snows and Flakes:

...I’ve got to be careful thinking about UFOs lest they snatch me up in my wanderings about and around the city like Walton.

Fixed the link. Yeah, not joking here. Here’s a copy of the first two sentences from Wikipedia:

Snowflake is a town in Navajo County, Arizona, United States. It was founded in 1878 by Erastus Snow and William Jordan Flake, Mormon pioneers and colonizers.[5] It has frequently been noted on lists of unusual place names.[6][7] According to 2012 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the town is 5,564.[8]

Thanks for the clarification, Dumpy. Those trips were when I was a kid. I haven't been to Sedona since my son was a child. It's so beautiful there.

I did my weekly 'Can't You Hear Me Gnostic' last night. It was a little shorter than my usual show because we ended early to have an offline "Campfire" face to face get together. That went for about three hours and was very rewarding and acquainting. Met three new people and know their faces and voices now. Like myself, many others are tired of trying to discuss the important issues of our times, as well as getting to really know each other, through text when we have the technology to approximate 'hanging out' with each other.

I hear ya, and that is certainly a valid point. I remember commenting to someone a ways back that I thought these forums were a dying breed in lieu of live chats, like when cars began replacing horses, but I've had to amend that a bit.

I think there's a balance to be struck. As you rightly point out these nothing like speaking with someone directly so far as really getting to know them, that's a given hands down. But for piecing and stringing together deep complexities, for me anyway there's nothing like sitting down, taking whatever time is necessary, to spell it out.

Some people are also natural born writers, I'm one for instance. But I also understand it's not that way with other people, you being one. I get it. So trying to piece this entire thought together, although I no longer think forums are a dying breed, I CAN easily see a Forum 202 upgrade as a very real possibility, where written word, live chats, and short videos mingle seamlessly with one another.

A lot of people are camera shy as well, one more thing to take into consideration. Of course that can be worked on and overcome. But also, people like me who live out in the sticks have limited monthly bandwidth as well.

Well it's Monday and that means another Can't You Hear Me Gnostic. Live streamed a few hours ago.
