    Donbas

"Ukrainian troops have launched a massive assault on militia-held areas Sunday morning after an order from Kiev, a presidential aide said. The self-proclaimed Donetsk republic’s leader accused Kiev of trying to restart the war.

The order to launch the offensive was issued early approximately at 6:00 am, according to Yury Biryukov, an aide to President Petro Poroshenko.

“Today we will show HOW good we are at jabbing in the teeth,” he wrote on his Facebook page, a mode of conveying information favored by many Ukrainian officials.

In a later post he said: “They are now striking a dot. Uuu…” in a reference to Tochka-U (‘tochka’ means ‘dot’ in Russian), a tactical ballistic missile, one of the most powerful weapons Ukraine so far deployed against rebel forces.

“That wasn’t a dot but ellipsis. Strong booms,” he added.

Reports from the ground confirmed a sharp escalation of clashes across the front line, with particularly heavy artillery fire reported at Gorlovka.

“Locals in Donetsk said they haven’t heard such intensive shelling since summer,” Valentin Motuzenko, a military official in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic, told Interfax news agency.

“The Ukrainian military are using all kinds of weapons, Grad multiple rocket launchers, mortars…” Motuzenko said.

A source at the site told RT that a group of OSCE monitors have demanded that the Ukrainian military stop the shelling. The source added that there is a danger that the group may itself come under artillery fire."

What the Ukies do not know is that Novo-Russian Ukies do not relish killing them. There seems to be two different species of Ukie. One is human in its thinking and the other is little more than a beast being whipped on. When Donbass patience wears thin, the carnage will be high. Porky is one of the sicker people speaking in public. Ratsenyuk, spelled his name like that on purpose, is another psychopath on full display for the world to see or not, depending on the mind viewing it. The East Ukrainians are religious and this is their holy day. Demons like Porky doing what they do best.

I'll bet he is a terror at a pie eating contest too.

a few days ago donbas fighters retook donetsk airport, tore down Ukr flag and that. this i gather may be poroshenko's response, or else part of already envisaged post-paris, "je suis ukraine" assault.. see how they spin it this time.
meanwhile, Rus swithched off gas transit via Ukr. maybe in anticipation of this?

When cleaning out the ruins of the Donetsk airport NAF troops rescued 16 UAF soldiers who were buried under the rubble, initially there were about 30 of them there, but only 16 survived while rests died waiting for help promised by their command that never came. Each of them had been given a solar-powered player with baptist preaching.

p.s. donetsk airport has been taken back by the local forces

Ukies' forces made a "tactical withdrawel to new positions" - the new positions being the kiev barracks .

Very powerful and wise on the part of Donbas leadership. They treat the soldiers like errant brothers. Treat them well but, make them visit scenes of carnage that they and their ilk have caused. Treating them well dissolves any BS they had about these people being terrorists. Besides shame it must be embarrassing for them to see how gullible they were.

Why was there such a fierce battle for Donetsk airport?

Big Question: the outcome of the battle for the control of Donetsk airport acts as a bellwether for the eventual battle for control of the city, and that again, as an indicator of the eventual control of the Donbass region

By Quintin Van Zyl, King's College London

    3:30PM GMT 22 Jan 2015 http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worl...k-airport.html

    ---
" Regarding the symbolic value of this, or indeed any international airport, it acts as a gateway to a city, region, or even a country, and as such, forms part of the national infrastructure. Therefore, international airports represent an element of civil service, in itself again, a visible branch of government.

The civil servants may have left the Sergey Prokofiev International Airport a long time ago, but within the following chaos, the perception that "airport equals government" is all that remains. Since both parties wish to demonstrate at least some vestige of governmental control, the airport is the place to do so. -----

The airport therefore offers a natural bastion that overlooks the city and affords – for the government forces, at least – a platform for the deployment of armour and artillery within striking range of the city centre itself.

For the forces of the Donetsk People's Republic, the airport represents the key to operational security. It is the last toehold of the government forces close to Donetsk, and affords a suitable assembly area and a springboard for future operations by them towards Donetsk. As long as there are government forces at the airport, Kiev can, (after some build-up of forces), retake the city with a great deal less effort than what the case would be, should the airport be in rebel hands.

Neither side can afford to yield in this battle – within the Minsk Protocol framework, the entire conflict boils down to the airport, and who controls it. Whomever does, will eventually emerge the victor. "

20.NOv 2013 - before maidan sq. unrests in kiev, ukraine:

    astonishing

    Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y9hOl8TuBUM

    Transcript:

Deputy Oleg Tsarov has the word

    Honourable Colleagues
    Honourable Vladimir Vasiljevitch

In my role as a representative of the Ukrainian people…
…activists of the public organisation "Volya" turned to me…
    …providing clear evidence…
    …that within our territory…
    …with support and direct participation
…of the US Embassy in Kiev…
    …the "TechCamp" project is realised…
…under which preparations are being made for a civil war in Ukraine.

The "TechCamp" project prepares specialists for information warfare…
…and the discrediting of state institutions using modern media…
    …potential revolutionaries…
    …for organising protests…
… and the toppling of the State Order.

The project is currently overseen and under the responsibility…
…of the US ambassador to Ukraine…
    …Geoffrey R. Pyatt.

After the conversation with the organisation "Volya“…
    … I have learned…
…that they succeeded to access Facilities in the project "TechCamp“…
…disguising as a team of IT specialists.

To their surprise, briefings on peculiarities of modern media were held.

American instructors explained how social networks and Internet technologies…
…can be used for targeted manipulation of public opinion…
…as well as to activate protest potential…
…to provoke violent unrest on the territory of Ukraine…
…Radicalisation of the population and triggering of infighting.

American instructors show examples of successful use of social networks…
    …used to organise protests
    …in Egypt, Tunisia and Libya.

"TechCamp" representatives currently hold conferences throughout Ukraine.

A total of five events have been held so far.

About 300 people were trained as operatives, which are now active throughout Ukraine.

The last conference "TechCamp" took place on 14 and 15 November 2013…
…in the Heart of Kiev on the territory of the US Embassy!

You tell me which country in the world would allow…
…a NGO to operate out of the US Embassy?

This is disrespectful to the Ukrainian government, and against the Ukrainian People!

I appeal to the Constitutional Authorities of Ukraine with the following question:

Is it conceivable that representatives of the US Embassy…
    …which organise the "TechCamp" Conferences…
    …misuse their diplomatic mission?

    –– Let him speak ––

    Carry On

    UN Resolution of 21 December 1965 regulates…
…inadmissibility of interference in the internal affairs of a state…
…to protect its independence and its sovereignty…
…in accordance with paragraphs one, two and five.

I ask you to consider this as an official beseech…
…to pursue an investigation of this case

    Thank You!

    news from donbas:

    "
So far so good. As far as I can tell, if the "Debaltsevo cauldron" is not quite closed, is almost is and the still open segment is completely under Novorussian fire. The Junta forces have taken huge losses (just as when the "Ialovaisk cauldron" was being formed). The Junta forces are doing better north and east of the Donetsk airport where the Novorussian lost at least one, possibly two, villages. Peski is still contested (as far as I know). The big news is that the DNR and LNR have released a joint statement saying that they are willing to return to the negotiating table on the basis of the Minsk Agreements, but only if the current and actual line of contact is used to separate the forces. In other words, they ain't gonna give back terrain which was won in hard battles. Good for them. Bottom line, the junta appears unable to break the resistance"

yesterday's planned "sitting at negotiating table" failed

    via rt:

"Shelling of the eastern Ukrainian city of Donetsk is continuing practically non-stop with shells landing in civilian areas after mediators’ talks failed Saturday. Militia and Kiev forces are fighting for the strategically key area of Debaltsevo."

the area of debaltsevo isn't imminently being retaken by the local forces like the commentator in my above post suggested - the battles are still raging...getting control of debaltsevo is crucial for the local militia as it is used as a launching pad for shelling of the city (donetsk)

"The OSCE called on Sunday for the continuation of attempts to negotiate a new ceasefire after talks on Saturday failed to produce any sort of agreement. Kiev and their opponents accused each other of derailing the talks. The OSCE called on Sunday for the continuation of attempts to negotiate a new ceasefire after talks on Saturday failed to produce any sort of agreement. Kiev and their opponents accused each other of derailing the talks. "

The militia said they are willing to negotiate, but wants Kiev to order a ceasefire first.

“We are prepared for dialogue and are willing to act within the framework of the Minsk agreement, but it should be a dialogue, not Kiev’s monologue,” Denis Pushilin, who represented the DNR at the Saturday meeting, told the media.

kerry and nuland are in kiev and tomorrow merkel of germany and french hollande will be in moscow for talks with putin. this is probably the strongest indication that the debaltsevo cauldron is closed.

interesting development - meaning kerry and nuland will go up the wall

    just in:

    "Ukraine SITREP: *Extremely* dangerous situation

The Novorussian and the junta have agreed to a cease-fire to allow the civilian population to leave Debaltsevo. In theory, each civilian will get to chose whether he/she wants to be evacuated to Novorussia or to the Nazi-occupied Ukraine. The convoy of refugees will be escorted by senior OSCE officials. Both sides to the conflict have pledged not to open fire during the time needed for this operation. Now consider this:

    1) The only thing protecting the junta forces are, precisely, these civilians. If these civilians leave, then Debaltsevo will turn into Saur Mogila. Until now, the Novorussians have advanced rather slowly precisely because they could not use the full power of their artillery to soften up the well dug-in junta forces. But thanks to the Voentorg, the Novorussians now have plenty of firepower now and if they decide to really open up upon the junta forces the latter will suffer the same devastating consequences as their (now dead) colleagues in Saur Mogila. Everybody understands that.

    2) Tonight the junta has used white phosphorus again, and in the recent days they have used both ballistic missiles and cluster munitions. Why this sudden concern with the Debaltsevo civilians (whom the Nazis consider as "bugs" anyway)? Does anybody really believe that the Nazi freaks in Kiev care for Novorussian civilians?!

    3) Kerry, Hollande and Merkel were in Kiev today. The latter two will be in Moscow tomorrow. In Germany, the Munich Security Conference is meeting. NATO is still claiming that "hundreds and hundreds" of Russian Federation soldiers are operating in Novorussia. While some US officials speak of sending "lethal aid" to the junta, others seem to oppose it.

What does that all tell you?

Me - it tells me that this is the PERFECT opportunity for the kind of false flag massacres NATO and the US are so good at. That is how the "Empire of Kindness" justified bombing the Bosnian Serbs, that is how the "Empire of Kindness" justified bombing Kosovo and that is how the "Empire of Kindness" justified bombing Libya.

Tomorrow, such an attack will be very easy to organize. Just send a group of men to post a Claymore mine anywhere along the convoy's route, plant a 152mm shell with a remote under the road where the bus will collect the refugees, pay some patsy to hide in the ditch with an RPG, or use a regular Grad strike at any time - and, voilà, you will have exactly the kind of atrocity which was used to justify all the previous wars of the "Empire of Kindness".

Except that this time around, the goal will not be to bomb or invade Novorussia (that is something the US/NATO simply cannot do), but to create the kind if hysteria which might make it possible to save the junta forces in the Debaltsevo cauldron. That, at least, could be the plan. Also, if a massacre happens at the evacuation of refugees, then this will "prove" that the Novorussians don't care about civilians and create a "Sarajavo-like" situation in which the surrounded force gets to shoot as much as it wants while the surrounding force is crucified by the imperial propaganda for every shell fired.

I sure hope that I am wrong, but I won't breathe normally again until tomorrow evening because if no false flag happens tomorrow this will be a real miracle.

    The Saker"

I have heard that the European parliament passed legislation to allow the go ahead of war with Russia, this happened under media cover of the Charlie Hebdo attacks, I haven't even seen anything in English about it yet

Just found it on PDF http://www.euractiv.com/files/europe...on_ukraine.pdf

    thank for your comment.

seems that many things are happening under our noses, but because they go unreported the assumption is "nothing much has changed".just today, frau merkel and hollande of france are in moscow having bypassed US green lighting it. while kerry and nuland remain in kiev.

somehow at the same time everyone's favourite idiot mccain stated and i paraphrase but you can look it up elsewhere that: it was partly US fault Ukr had to resort to spraying donbas residential areas with cluster bombs because they, the US were not in a position to supply "more adequate armour" - that has to be THE UBER CYNICISM of many decades.

in the subcontext of all this, it appears that some 9000 or so combatants under poroshenko/Ukr flag are trapped, defeated in debeltsevo bottleneck with no way out..and this was not according to US/EU expectations..

    it's a mess with a horrible potential
