    Elon Musk on Killer Robots

I've only recently heard about Elon Musk, an entrepreneur with interesting futuristic ideas.

Considering the view of transhumanism (humans merging with technology - google glass, brain chips, identity chips etc), this doesn't seem so far out.

He posits the view that human beings may be in the future, a target of killer robots.

As a young kid watching the Jetsons, did I ever ponder all this would happen in my lifetime.

In this link there is a 1 minute video, talking about AI summoning a 'demon'.

Edit: What does he know, that we don't?

Potentially lethal robots have been around, albeit very quietly for at least twenty years. The real risk lies in untrammeled artificial intelligence coupled to robots capable of carrying out the AI's intentions in the physical world, and like E.M. I believe that unless we put safeguards in place, something like the "I, Robot" scenario is perfectly possible.

While we have made enormous advances in both robotics and AI, I have long been concerned that we were able to build useful robots long before we were able to program Asimov's Three Laws of robotics.

    1. A robot may not harm a human being or allow a human being to suffer harm. (Asimov also explored the question of what is a human being?)
    2. A robot may not allow itself to be harmed unless prevention would interfere with first law operation.
    3. A robot must obey all instructions given to it by a human being unless obedience would interfere with first or second law operation.

I think it's fair to say that this is fairly high on the agenda aswell. A quick look at popular music videos shows a disturbing drive towards "homo-evolutis".....
