    Canadian Parliament shooting

So it looks like we have some whack job extremists at work today in Ottawa. Our Parliament is under attack.
Isis? Today Harper sent 5 fighter jets over to help in the war against Isis..

    Coincidence?

Haha!! Yes and no! Apparently there's three different shooters at work. One at a war memorial at Parliament, one downtown and one somewhere else.

    You made me chuckle.

This was to be expected IMHO to support the cause for sending our youth to war and to clamp down more on our civil liberites!!! So sad for all

I live across the river from Ottawa. There was a lockdown in Ottawa and in Gatineau. Where I work, the whole complex was in a semi-lockdown nobody could come in or out without proper identification, and we could only go through one of the doors of the complex. The bridges across the two provinces (Ontario/Québec) were all blocked and all cars were being thoroughly searched. All schools were in "code blanc" - no kids allowed outside, no one allowed in the school that had no business being there.

My colleagues daughter works downtown Ottawa and they were in total lockdown - nobody could enter or leave the buildings. One of the girls she works with witnessed the soldier being shot at the War Memorial. She was in shock, but trapped in the building. I don't know if they have let the people go now.

There are a lot of police everywhere, even on our side of the river. As I write this, I can hear the helicopters going around and around.

From what I hear, it has to do with Canada sending troops over in Syria/Iraq. Apparently, it's open season on Canadian citizens and citizens of any other countries sending troops.

If this keeps on happening, I suspect we will see the War Measures Law being put in place (Loi sur les mesures de guerre).

Quite a day... many, many scared people around.
