    Inside the Dark Web

Interesting video from Top Documentary Films carrying on from Edward Snowden revelations. Of particular interest imo is information like: the whole contents of the British Library can be downloaded by GCHQ in 40 seconds flat.

Inside the Dark Web turns to the topic of internet surveillance concerning the pros and cons of the ability for everything that passes over the immense World Wide Web being able to be watched, recorded, and analyzed.

The first aspect of the conversation examined by the film is Britain's GCHQ - The Government Communications Headquarters - which is a federal security agency whose mission statement reads "[The Agency] is constantly working to keep Britain safe and secure in the challenging environment of modern communication." The reason cited in the film as being the sole one the public has any knowledge of the agency's existence is because Edward Snowden leaked the information in his infamous documents.

Tim Berners-Lee, the man credited as the inventor of the Internet itself, explains that he sees the dangers being presented as the World Wide Web develops over the time. He makes the point that we have to understand, in regards to surveillance, that it is not people that are monitoring our internet activity in the initial tiers of these security agencies' efforts - it is computers, or the algorithms housed on them, that flag behavior designated as worth looking into further and then alert human security officials that perhaps there is reason to delve deeper.

The film's focus turns from government surveillance to that being conducted by commercial entities - big business acquiring as much information as it can about your search, traffic, and interest-related habits that allow them to target paid advertising into the path of your digital trailblazing for products that you just might be willing to hand over some of your hard earned money for. The aforementioned government agencies often acquire this information for their own monitoring purposes as well.

David Chaum is a renowned theorist on the subject of internet development, and as early as the 1980's was writing papers about the alarming nature of digital privacy and the need to think about these issues before they become the sole conduit to the living of our lives. These ideas led to the invention of encryption, which the remainder of the film explores as it relates to the various forms of our data that is passing across the World Wide Web in droves on a daily basis.

Interesting! more and more our lives are becoming open books to anyone who chooses to read.

It seems as soon as someone finds a way to block info from getting out, someone else finds a way to get through the block .

We here about the NSA and GCHQ but this is a place below that i believe records most stuff and yeah they are in bed with the NSA.Its been described as the largest electronic monitoring station in the world.

    RAF Menwith Hill

Royal Air Force Menwith Hill or more simply RAF Menwith Hill is a Royal Air Force station near Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England which provides communications and intelligence support services to the United Kingdom and the United States of America. The site contains an extensive satellite ground station and is a communications intercept and missile warning site and has been described as the largest electronic monitoring station in the world.

RAF Menwith Hill is commanded by a Royal Air Force Officer, supported by an RAF element, whilst the majority of support services were provided by the United States Air Force, 421st Air Base Group until 2014 on behalf of the US National Security Agency, with antennae contained in a large number of highly distinctive white radomes, and is alleged to be an element of the ECHELON system

Menwith Hill Station was opened on 545 acres (2.21 km2) of land acquired by the British War Office in 1954 and leased to the United States. The United States Army Security Agency established a high frequency radio monitoring capability, monitoring communications emanating from the Soviet Union, operating from 1958.

In 1966 the National Security Agency (NSA) took on responsibility for the U.S. operation of the site, expanding the capabilities to monitor international leased line communications transiting through Britain. The site was then one of the earliest to receive sophisticated early IBM computers, with which NSA automated the labour-intensive watch-list scrutiny of intercepted but unenciphered telex messages.

In March 2012 researcher Dr. Steve Schofield produced a 65-page report called "Lifting the Lid on Menwith Hill",[6] funded by the Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust and commissioned and published by the Yorkshire Campaign for Nuclear Disaarmament (CND). Menwith Hill's primary mission is to provide "intelligence support for UK, US and allied interests". The base's multimillion-pound expansion, Project Phoenix, is "one of the largest and most sophisticated high technology programs carried out anywhere in the UK over the last 10 years". Of the 1,800 employees in 2012, 400 were British and 1,200 were American employees of the NSA

During an interview with Russia Today in April 2012, Schofield alleged that Menwith Hill was "involved in drone attacks". He said: "The UK’s providing a facility here that’s involved in drone attacks that we know, from independent assessments, are killing and injuring thousands of civilians, and because of the covert nature of that warfare, it’s very difficult to provide information and accountability through the UK parliament. And yet these are acts of war. And normally when we have war, parliament should normally inform people that we’re involved in those. And we’re not being informed. We’re kept entirely in the dark about them."

During the 2009 G-20 London Summit NSA intercept specialists based at Menwith Hill attempted to target and decode the encrypted telephone calls of the Russian president Dmitry Medvedev.

So why we here about the nsa and gchq all the time it does make you wonder if thats done on purpose to throw us off the scent on what actually going on at this place.

If you just consider what any of us look at on the internet in one day: like

    stuff about them
    store opening times and directions
    spellings and synonyms
how to open a washing machine door that won't open
    football scores
    lottery result
    2 x skype calls
    fruit and veg vitamin content
alzheimers in cats (poor Monty . . )
right brain v eft brain activity

This is about half of what I've looked up today, sans you tube videos and this website plus related links. If whoever is monitoring me can make any kind of sense of any of that then I'd like to hear from them . . . . and I'm not finished yet. And I guess it's much the same for all of you . . . .
