You're saying that sometimes it's okay to derail a thread and sometimes it's not; it just depends on who's saying whatever it is.

I'm not talking about side topics that inevitably come up on threads.

I'm talking about discussing members instead of discussing topics. Discussing members on threads of a controversial nature is a very common way on forums to avoid what we should be doing, which is face up to complicated and emotional issues slowly by staying on track.

We could always make up some stern rules and implement them ruthlessly so that you do not feel offended, I suppose.

Can you relate at all to what I'm saying about controversial topics and how easy it is for people to avoid them?

A spice within the harmonic pie, some say pepper and some say salt, is, tolerance and common sense, having a good or Xlent oven instead of a microwave and the mind of a good fire maker to create, Tadaaaa totish gorn pastry. Do I care about relating and upsetting someone ?, nope, What would the point be of doing it on purpose.

You're saying that sometimes it's okay to derail a thread and sometimes it's not; it just depends on who's saying whatever it is.
What I'm saying is that what you call derailment isn't always derailment. Everything depends on the circumstances, and in order to understand that, you have to have a feel for the community you're dealing with. Normally, developing such a feel comes pretty fast to anyone joining up here. Most of our members catch the vibe of the community very early on in their membership.

On the other hand, this thread had already long been dead and buried. The last contribution to the thread from one of the original participants was post #35, committed to the thread on 15.10.2014. That was over two-and-a-half years ago. In internet terms, that's an eternity. Most of the original participants of this thread have already long gone missing in action, and others have either been retired or banned. This thread wasn't just merely dead, it was a fossil.

Now, you have made an attempt at reviving this thread on 09.06.2017, but you cannot expect a derelict thread like this to get back on track as if it had been posted only yesterday — if such a thing is even possible at all to begin with. It is either way especially not going to work if you keep on putting the staff of this forum on trial with every single one of your posts.

Quite evidently, you are the only one of our members who seems to have a problem, both at trusting our management style and integrity on the one hand, and at picking up the social vibe of this community on the other hand. Therefore, at this point, I honestly don't think that any answer I can provide you with is ever going to satisfy you.

So perhaps the answers you seek are not to be found with anyone other than yourself. Have you considered that option?

No, I did not make an attempt to revive a thread.

I did what forum members are supposed to do.

Search first to see whether or not a documentary or any other material has already been posted before starting a thread on it.

If it's already been posted, the thing to do is continue the discussion with the new material that one has to offer.

If the discussion were still current, then yes. But on a derelict thread over two-and-a-half years old? In that case, you'd always be far more successful reopening the discussion by way of a new thread, even if only because the people who expressed certain opinions on the derelict thread — provided that these people would even still be around — may already long have changed their opinions again.

You have to keep in mind that research — whether it's historical, scientific or spiritual — is an ongoing process, with newer opinions, theories and discoveries overruling and supplanting older opinions, theories and discoveries. And while a forum dedicated to, say, motorcycles may be rather static in the nature of its information — internal combustion engines and gearboxes haven't exactly changed much in the past couple of years — the dynamic of changing opinions, theories and discoveries is especially present on a forum of people seeking the truth behind UFOs, conspiracies, spirituality, cryptozoology, the supernatural, and so on.

I wouldn't let it sit on a counter top for two-and-a-half years, though. Well, unless you intend on compiling a thesis on the development and social behavior of entirely new lifeforms, that is.

The title of this thread is "The Greatest Story Never Told......," a reference to the title of a documentary.

That documentary is currently the same thing it was when it first came out. It is not dated. It is just controversial. The controversial nature of the subject matter is the whole purpose of putting it on a forum to be discussed. The history of the discussion is relevant. Coming to terms with it is how progress is made.

Except of course that the link to the documentary in the original post has already long become stale. Common sense would therefore dictate that if you wish to discuss this documentary, you would at least provide for a working link to where people can watch it, so that they may be able to form an opinion about it.

Besides, like I said, opinions change over time. Things presented in an old documentary may not necessarily seem as credible anymore to today's members of The One Truth as they did back in the days of those old members, most of whom have left The One Truth over two years ago.

There was a different atmosphere here at the time — and for that matter, not just here at The One Truth. Most of the "alt community" forum members back then were still in that highly polarized phase where they accepted just about every bit of information at face value whenever it didn't correspond to the mainstream narrative. The vast majority of our current member base is far more mature than that and has already long progressed beyond that stage.

Furthermore, not all mis- and disinformation comes from The Powers That Be™. There are plenty of standalone factions in the world with an agenda all of their own. The Flat Earth meme for instance ties in with Christian fundamentalism, and anything that denies the atrocities committed by the Nazi regime is usually sponsored by the neo-Nazi movement, which is still very much alive today — and especially so here in Europe.
