Attention Teenagers - Jobs in the Future

I sent this to my teenage son today. 'To the Class of 2014, here are the jobs you should be looking for.'

Sure is a different world from when I was a teenager, lol. I worry about the future for my son and my descendants (if I have any), but there is a lot of stuff to be inspired by also.

Send this to any young people you know.

This mindset is why I am watching The Venus Project (TVP) carefully. A lot of followers seem to have spun off from the Zeitgeist movement into its orbit, and the thinking behind TVP is that we already have the technology (or most of it), what we have to do is transition ourselves, weaning off the money system toward a resource-based economy.

There are a lot of wrinkles that need to be worked out, but I believe if we work together with the awareness of the damage that the "divide and conquer" strategy has done to us, we can make it happen.

Hi KK, I am not an expert on the Venus Project at all. I've just taken a cursery glance at it.

Could you provide a link you think is good? Rather than me doing a start page search. You never know what ****e you end up with, lol...

From my vague memory the Venus Project has someone or 'it' in charge of stuff. That sets my alarm bells ringing.

'Who watches the watchers' is what I'm saying. I remember Max Igan who I respect immensely saying the same thing.

Anyway, as always I have an open mind. Would love to watch/read anything you recommend.

From the beginning I was intrigued by both the Zeitgeist Movement and the Venus Project. I believe they hold great potential. Many on these forums pooh-poohed them as Fascist, etc., I didn't see it that way. Were they perfect? . . . no. But like anything new, the kinks can be worked out and it can evolve. But instead, as humans are prone to do, we focus on the kinks.

I was sorry when the 2 separated (Zeitgeist & Venus Project). Jacques Fresco (Venus Project) is a brilliant inventor and a fiesty old dude - I think he's 93 yrs now. He's mellowed in the last few years, at least on his documentaries. Peter Joseph (Zeitgeist Movement) more mellow.

It seems the whole thing is in a state of flux at present - the homepage I was expecting to find is now Project Humanity and Earth 2.0.

There does seem to be a rather cultist fixation by many participants on Jaques Fresco, who is already an old man and cannot be expected to lead the movement indefinitely, which IMO is a weakness, since we should be leading ourselves in making the needed changes. However, from what I have seen, he does propose that the changes cannot be made without changing our thinking as a part of changing our entire social structure.
