OMG, I have tears in my eyes. Didn't realise how much this song meant to me.

(Too much information, I know.) Heart on sleeve and all that stuff. Oh well...

Edit: I've never seen this video before tonight. Only listened to it.

    Miscellaneous
    First Try

    Can't run fast enough
    Can't hide I can't fly
I'm struggling with the limits of this ordinary life

    I'm just a
    Just a
    Just a first try

    Can't hear what you say
    Can't see by the light
I'm struggling with the limits of this ordinary life

    I'm just a
    Just a
    Just a first try

    Can't say what I mean
    Can't love from the heart
Can't trust in the mercy and the goodness in the world
Can't learn to accept that it's alright
To struggle with the limits of this ordinary life

    Can't be
    Just a
    Just a first try
    Can't be
    Just a
    Just a first try

Tribe: I really really relate to this song !

    "Earth Song"

    What about sunrise
    What about rain
    What about all the things
That you said we were to gain...
    What about killing fields
    Is there a time
    What about all the things
That you said was yours and mine...
Did you ever stop to notice
All the blood we've shed before
Did you ever stop to notice
This crying Earth this weeping shores?

    Aaaaaaaaah Oooooooooh
    Aaaaaaaaah Oooooooooh

What have we’ve done to the world
    Look what we've done
    What about all the peace
That you pledge your only son...
    What about flowering fields
    Is there a time
    What about all the dreams
That you said was yours and mine...
Did you ever stop to notice
All the children dead from war
Did you ever stop to notice
This crying Earth this weeping shores

    Aaaaaaaaah Oooooooooh
    Aaaaaaaaah Oooooooooh
    Aaaaaaaaah Oooooooooh

    I used to dream
I used to glance beyond the stars
Now I don't know where we are
Although I know we've drifted far

    Aaaaaaaaah Oooooooooh
    Aaaaaaaaah Oooooooooh
    Aaaaaaaaah Oooooooooh
    Aaaaaaaaah Oooooooooh

Hey, what about yesterday (What about us)
What about the seas (What about us)
The heavens are falling down (What about us)
I can't even breathe (What about us)
What about apathy (What about us)
I need you (What about us)
What about nature's worth (ooo, ooo))
It's our planet's womb (What about us)
What about animals (What about it)
Turned kingdoms to dust (What about us)
What about elephants (What about us)
Have we lost their trust (What about us)
What about crying whales (What about us)
Ravaging the seas (What about us)
What about forest trails (ooo, ooo)
Burnt despite our pleas (What about us)
What about the holy land (What about it)
Torn apart by creed (What about us)
What about the common man (What about us)
Can't we set him free (What about us)
What about children dying (What about us)
Can't you hear them cry (What about us)
Where did we go wrong (ooo, ooo)
Someone tell me why (What about us)
What about baby boy (What about it)
What about the days (What about us)
What about all their joy (What about us)
What about the man (What about us)
What about the crying man (What about us)
What about Abraham (What about us)
What about death again (ooo, ooo)

    Do we give a damn

Well, you tell us that we're wrong
And you tell us not to sing our song
Nothing we can say will make you see
You got a heart of stone
    You can never feel
You say "oh, I'm not afraid - it can't happen to me
I've lived my life as a good man
Oh, no you're out of your mind
    It won't happen to me
    'Cos I've carried my weight
And I've been a strong man"
Listen to the man in the liquor store
Yellin' "Anybody want a drink before the war?"
And your parents paid you through
You got a nice big car
    Nothing bothers you
    Somebody cut out your eyes
    You refuse to see
    Somebody cut out your heart
    You refuse to feel
And you live in a shell
    You create your own hell
    You live in the past
    And talk about war
And you dig your own grave yeah
But it's a life you can save
    So stop getting fussed
    It's not gonna happen
    And you'll cry
    But you'll never fall
No, no, no You're building a wall
    Gotta break it down
    Start again
    No, no, no
    It won't happen to us
    We've lived our lives
    Basically we've been good men
    So stop talking of war
'Cause you know we've heard it all before
Why don't you go out there
    And do something useful?
Oh listen to the man in the liquor store
Yellin' "Anybody wanna drink before the war?"
"Anybody wanna drink before the war?"
"Anybody wanna drink before the war?"

    with Love
    Eelco

    Hi All,

This may be a bit early in the morning for all you up there in the northern hemisphere, lol, but it's nearly 6pm here Saturday.

Just been reading an article about Stevie Nicks (Fleetwood Mac). And where she is now at age 65 (I cannot believe that!).

Anyway, it reminded me of the music 'Tusk', 1979. These were halcyon days....going to work in an ad agency, dancing all night, then going straight to work the next morning from the dance floor. There were a few of us known as the 'rat pack', we went out partying during the week, dancing on tables, yahoo-ing, singing our lungs out across the Sydney Harbour bridge to 'Boys Light up" (band - Australian Crawl), in expensive sports cars, and generally running amok, as you do...

This night we went tribal in an expensive nightclub, in a circle, and each of us went to the centre of the circle and danced our heart's out, then the next person's turn came. No alcohol or anything like (ok, maybe the odd line of coke or two, lol). It was just before I left Oz to live and travel in UK/Europe.

Great memories! Oh my life is so sedate now. But I lived it up and no-one can take away my memories.

Those of you in the same time-warp....enjoy!

    Hi Calz

A beautiful version of this Carol King classic, I have to admit I welled up a bit towards the end … Many thanks for posting. JP
