We saw two water moccasins at the creek, yesterday. They are very common, where I live, so the reaction was an informed one, so to speak.

I have no idea what water moccasins are, coming from outside of the US...

I presumed it to be a pair of waterproof footwear.

Oh a quick search now I know they aren't slippers, shows them to be snakes.

It is an interesting notion, because having lived my whole life in New Zealand where there are absolutely no dangerous critters to be concerned of, the thought of snakes couldn't have been further from mind.
I think of walking barefoot and rolling around in the grass as a given.

When I lived in Upstate New York in the Catskill mountains, I was told by a forest ranger that in the higher elevations, where few people go, the rattlesnakes were numerous. When I walked in the woods, it was with a heavy walk to send vibrations. If not surprised, rattlers, as they are called also, will make their presence known and one can then give the snake respectful room and not seek to cross its path. When given a chance, many animals will give a threat display to avoid confrontation. The "Don't Tread On Me Flag" features a rattlesnake and is quite appropriate. In other words, respect me and there will be no problems. The Second Amendment gives Americans the fangs they need for abusive gooberment. Too any Americans forgot that too quickly and it hearkens to the answer given by Benjamin Franklin to a woman who asked what kind of government had been formed. He answered, "A Republic, ma'am, if you can keep it".

Sadly, the vigilance required to keep it was either ignored or forgotten. Americans do have an issue with Universal cause and effects, given how they aided and abetted their gooberment with regards to the Native peoples. Something to do with being "heathens".

The more I learn, the more I realize that our leaders knew they weren't heathens. But many used the same tricks of gas lighting and spreading fear to cause people to hate the 'savages'.

A technique used across the globe during those centuries of colonisation. Often stage one being, send in missionaries.
The British Empire being one of the experts at it, destroying the native populations and their cultures via disease, drugs, genocide, displacement, and conversion. On the very few occasions, the treaty was used as well, which was used as a form of sorcery.

That's the modern society in a nutshell. Total insanity, but if you're rich I guess living truly must be fun.

    Hi Wind,

If you watch that Destroy the Illusion video I posted up you can hear the guy mocking the notion of providing subsistence income for those incapable. The higher minds for centuries have been advocating for that approach to counter the downside of capitalism. It's there as a solution but 'philosophical shortsightedness' makes it nonviable.

The manifestation of such 'insight' would be truly transformative.

I would not trade places with anyone, no matter how rich. It was an epiphany I had many years ago and it was a joyful one.

Anybody requiring an income is a sign everything is wrong. Some older Native Americans will have stories of traditional living and income was not required to live. The sickness of modern society with 'owning' land and taxes attached is malignant. The best thing about the basic income discussion is it may lead to the actual problem.

People in seeking riches of the heart, can be lured in to believing they need to be a certain someone to attract an object of their desire.
They spend much time and efforts becoming someone else to win their someone.
Yet once they achieve this, they find they have but only attracted someone else's someone.
