    The Catholic Church

There are a variety of controversies involving and concerning the Catholic church.
What do you have to say, if anything, about the Catholic Church? I have friends who are Catholic, but they don't seem to pay attention to the news media or what others say or goes on around them.

The issues of Popes is controversial within Catholicism. Sedevacantists believe that there is no Pope standing.
Accordingly, The Chair of St. Peter is Vacant.

I relate to the expression I've heard "recovering Catholic." I take that to mean that as a child raised in the Catholic church, they were scared to death of defying authority.

I remember as a child being worried about what would happen to me and my siblings if we didn't get baptised.

As an adult, I became liberated by something I heard Montauk Project survivor Stewart Swerdlow say: "God doesn't have a religion."

He went on to say that there is a God-mind, however.

    That makes sense to me.

We were trained to always support the religion...At the philosophical 'religious' level, that makes sense, but at the same time, it doesn't require acceptance of anything contrary to the spirit of Catholicism. I think even Jesus would agree with that.

They aren't Catholics, they are 'Pro-testants'.

My daughter was baptized as soon as possible. That is fundamental to the Catholic faith. I explained her mother's and my responsibility (marriage vows) to have her spiritually circumscribed within the church's sacraments. Unfortunately, her mother didn't even understand what that meant. So my daughter chose to wait for Confirmation when she was able to make a 'mature' decision
