Ok, I confess, I skimmed this...the right wing is petrified of change to the point of self-destruction, but then we already knew that. Historically, at least in the United States, government has 'subsidized' technical innovation. Do you think that during the Space Race we got to the moon because of the low cost. That's laughable, no, the left knew if we were to advance we needed to invest in innovation. Thus, Kennedy's proclamation that we would be on the moon within a decade and we did it. And the world changed. We became more socially conscious, more socially fit, lives improved in many, many ways. Then along came the anti-pollyannas. What is so striking and historically predictive is the right lost interest in moving forward, stopped supporting innovation and then blamed the progressives for being sticks-in-the-mud and WASTING PRECIOUS TREASURE to promote [insert any progressive thought] of the nation. So the central point is that we can invest in saving the planet by promoting green energy AND doing technical research and development without being assholes about it. We, meaning the left, the right are congenital assholes and are probably the root cause of 'The Fermi Paradox'. The benefits of green are fiscally off the charts. And as SightBlinders proclaims, we just have to endure a little pain for a better future.
