    Autism and the Gut-Brain Connection

The following video is an interview of John Bergman, D.C., C.T.H. He formerly ran a construction business, but after suffering injuries in an accident, his life experience led him to become a chiropractor. That education taught him a great deal about anatomy and pinpointing the underlying stressor for any medical condition. He learned that inflammation is a HEALING process of the body—not a cause for disease.

The host of the interview is Brian Hooker, Ph.D., who has a 26 year old autistic son.

Here is a Description for the video, a screenshot, and a link to the interview:

    No thanks..
    I've heard all this before.
It used to be the fault of hysterical mothers before.
Dairy was blamed for a while. as well.
Autism sucks, some may find they can handle themselves pretty well with us "normal" folk. But many many many have ended up in my theater. I can tell you right now that a change in diet is not going to make their lives any easier.

But who knows, emf free fema camps with the 8 above mentioned dietary changes. If that doesn't work maybe we let them take a shower..
That should be a permanent way to fix it help.

    Anyhoe..
    Have a great day today

This subject is close to my heart.

My Son Elliott was born with Autism and there is no way in this world a change in his diet will change him .
No one person can ever change the truth, but the truth, once learned, can and will change the person

You must be the change you wish to see in the world when you are through changing, you are through

I don't know if you've looked into the GAPS diet protocols. I've a friend who had great success with one of his kids. I've read a lot of testimonials that were a lot more wild than his experience, too.

Can you elaborate on what end the GAPS protocol would be beneficial to someone "suffering" from any autism spectrum disorder?
I have "worked"/"cared" for people with similar disorders and other developmental disorders for over 35 years now. What gives me the heebie jeebies is that most of these "miracle" discoveries gets the hopes up of many a parent only to later have them go through the trauma of having to accept that it isn't going away again and again. Most do become more or less able to let these things go by, but it stings every so often.

Feeling better is not the same asa cure, Athough it is very preferable.
A nice night at the movies, a parade, or just spending time together often serves the feeling better purpose quite well.
A hug after tantrums works quite nicely to.

Anyway.. Most people would benefit from a healthy diet and some exercise as well. Seeing that many of them don't, please let's not put those on diets because we think it's good for them.
If their (dis) ability allows them to choose, sure. If not well I bet that if we look we can find out if they like something or not.
    Have a great day today

I am interested in that concept.

It reminds me of the statements I've heard from pediatician Dr. Larry Palevsky. He is against childhood vaccines and states that flu symptoms are indicative of the body expelling toxins. His philosophy for treatment is to support the body while it's detoxing itself. He has an interesting document on his website entitled "General Guidance If Your Child Is Sick" @ https://www.drpalevsky.com/child.html

I've not done it, myself, but it's an elimination diet where one takes nothing but meat broth for a time, which gives the guts time to heal and reset. It helps a lot with a number of mental conditions, from what I understand.

My friend's child had a severe regression as s toddler, toe walking, completely withdrawn, when he had been a normal kid. His mom went down the vaccine rabbit hole, and after going the the gaps process, settled on a diet that really did improve the kid's life in a dramatic way over the course of a few years. He's a relatively normal teenager, now.

As Cats says, feeling better is not the same as a cure and shouldn't be confused. I can personally vouch for the fact that I feel better on a low carb diet. I have more energy, my mood is slightly better. But...it's all within the context of having me/cfs which is debilitating and incurable. Anybody with any kind of health issue should be reducing stress any way they can for optimum health while suffering from a disease.

    Yes a well known fact,
Most if not all of my client operate from a state of perpetual and if not perpetual at least a deep pervading base state of fear.
I know this, I keep that in mind.
Their soothing and self soothing rituals in these matters are important enough for me not to test their tactile and mouth feel sensational fears by subjecting them to the horrors of introducing a "new" diet.
I only wish I was exaggerating here.

Stress can be diminished, however stress in this case is a symptom, not necessarily a cause..
I realize some people who have a form of autism will benefit from said diets, I have no doubt. But there are as many different forms of autism as their are people with autism, and what works for some may not work for others. I can only wish every well thinking being has space to accommodate some of the "stranger" behaviors our autistic fellow beings show.
Alas this is not the case.

    Anyway, I'll bow out now..
    Have a great day today

My late husband was on the spectrum. He told me that he was invited to the home of a Japanese client for dinner. He had to sample all of the dishes they prepared or they would have been offended. It was almost a traumatic event for him. Told me the anemone eggs gave him an out of body experience, and not in a good way!
