This is a long documentary — 1 hour and 49 minutes — but the visuals are stunning, and it's well worth the watch. It pretty much sums up the scientific vantages with regard to the potential of discovering life outside of our own planet, and what that life might look like.
It does however leave out the so-called Dark Forest Hypothesis, which states that intelligent life would be hiding its existence out of fear of attracting technologically far more advanced adversaries.
