So it was starting to slowly eat away at me that I wasn't looking at this horrific event in the proper light...
Yes, I knew on a very cursory level that self immolation was a thing, like the Vietnam era monk for instance, and unfortunately mixed into that shallow understanding was also contaminations of the subject from typical msm sources, such as mental illness and the like.
So I wound up doing a bit of a deep dive on the phenomena today, almost unconsciously in fact not really even trying, sometimes that just happens when things like this come up, and at like a DNA type of level I realize I'm woefully ignorant about whatever it may be and the empty cup gets filled.
Went looking for the raw footage of this incredibly brave young man Aaron Bushnell more out of just idle curiosity than anything else, and must admit I'm a bit ashamed of myself for posting about this in the way that I did.
There's a long history to this extreme form of protest as Aaron put it, it certainly is a proven method of getting the world's attention on a subject when nothing else seems to stick, and it's now dawning on me the true gravity of what it must take to drive a person of good conscience to do something like this.
How deeply they must feel, and care. I can't imagine. Talk about levels of empaths, they literally cannot live with it and this is their way of screaming it out to the world to get us to "see"...
So Glen Greenwald has done his usual due diligence in laying this out, along with the usual shallow hypocrisy of the West in celebrating this event when it serves to highlight something that happens to compliment a current selfish interest - ignoring and/or even casting aspersions upon it when it doesn't.

And "Democracy Now" seems to be hit or miss any more these days, mostly miss IMO, but here they give us a pretty good insight into who Aaron Bushnell was.

This even is reverberating around the Middle East, they've taken due notice. Of course our shit media here would never put light on something like that, but history may prove out that there may be more to this event than meets the current eye.
I now truly honor what this thoughtful and courageous young man did, and hopefully it was not in vain. His voice never quivered, he never even hesitated. Remarkable...
