There most certainly is coverage over here in Belgium, Vern. But, um, I take it you do know why it's on fire? And no, it doesn't have anything to do with vaccines, Covid-19, the war in Ukraine, Qanon, Joe Biden or Emmanuel Macron.

France is on fire because the cops pulled over a car driven by a dark-skinned 17-year old — in Europe, you have to be 18 to drive. The guy threatened to run over the police officers, but the police officers in turn responded by immediately firing a bullet through the teenager's head, instantly killing him.

It's not the first time there's a clash between teenagers and the cops over there, especially in the suburbs, and yet other teenagers have lost their lives in earlier confrontations. The French cops are known for being quite brutal — especially toward teenagers — and that's why there's such an outrage all over France right now. And of course, a riot like that also automatically draws in troublemakers from elsewhere who are intentionally looking for confrontations and opportunities to commit vandalism.

I've seen a few videos now, supposedly from France, with Muslims carry semi-automatic weapons, grenades and other major fire power being thrown around. The Eiffel tower is superimposed in the background of a place that looks a lot like Syria--unless they have simple one story shacks with tin roofs, making Paris one highly cultivated shanty town!

And at the same time, the riots are now spreading to Brussels as well, and there was an attempt to set fire to a police station by way of a Molotov cocktail, albeit that the suspects were arrested before the attack could be carried out.

Never say never, but I don't think that will ever happen here. In Europe — and in Belgium in particular — penitentiary institutions are still government-owned, and I don't think they'd be so crazy as to hand those off to the corporate world.

I know. And it's usually the same suspects too, i.e. youngsters versus the police, and then a bunch of troublemakers who literally travel over to those troubled areas in order to make things even worse, loot, and damage the private property of people who had nothing to do with whatever the riot was about.

And then you get police brutality because the cops — and these are not your regular street cops but anti-riot troops — can no longer tell the innocent apart from the guilty, and then they just beat the shit out of everyone who "looks suspicious".
