Merkel ended her career prior to the start of the War. Much earlier there may have been a urge to uphold peace but in short order it became a non-issue. That's the way I remember it.

I agree with that overall assessment. At least she separates herself from her bloodthirsty peer group steering the ship of fools straight into the teeth of WW3 in that psychopaths do no reflecting on matters, and are unconcerned with how history will view them, other than did they succeed in their ambitions or not.

Actually Fred, her sarcastic synopsis of global reality is pretty good, but she ruins it with the U.S. puppet thing. If one looks just a little bit closer, it becomes obvious that everyone and no one is a puppet. They are all slaves to their own self-interests.

Everyone deserves a chance to be a productive member of the global community. The odds are slim but which is better? Condemnation and war or forward movement to social legitimacy. As a macroscopic example of 2nd chances and redemption, we have to take the shot.

The alternative is to just say fuck it. It is the easy way out. But, I reckon' it proves the point that we here are trying to prove.
