Hey Everyone,
I guess most of you are by now already long aware of the existence of DuckDuckGo, the search engine that doesn't track you or record your IP address — in stark contrast to Google, which does all of those things. Well, as of right now, DuckDuckGo is also rolling out an email tracking protection, and here's how it works...
First of all, what you need to realize is that it's an email address, not an email account. In other words, there is no new inbox, and you don't have to abandon your email provider, whichever one you're using. You simply sign up for an @duck.com email address, and you tell it to what other email address owned by you it must forward. And then, whenever you have to sign up somewhere with an email address, you simply give that venue your @duck.com address instead of your real-world email address, and then the emails they send you will be available in your regular inbox, but with all the tracking headers removed that the sender added, so that the sender cannot track whether you've read the email, or on what device, from which location, and so on.
Additionally, sometimes you'd wish for a one-time-only throwaway email address, for instance in order to be able to read a news article on a site that won't let you do so unless you sign up for their newsletter, or other shenanigans like that. Well, if you sign up for an @duck.com address, then you are entitled to creating an unlimited number of throwaway aliases that you can dump again at any point in time, and then you can provide the nosy venue where you want to read the article with your throwaway @duck.com address, read the article, and then dump the address again right away after you're done reading.
The procedure for signing up is pretty straight-forward. All you have to do is navigate your browser to this link and follow the steps as shown in the screenshots below.
