This is the Rules based International Order the woman refers to, in a nut shell it's International Gangsterism. Now of course she's all for it because, on the face of it, her nation benefits from it - or so she thinks - it's actually in the process of being sacrificed in the name of weakening a competitor:

When this can finally be seen and understood by the observer, they are freed from Plato's Cave. Until then, only the shadows on the cave walls inform us of "reality". Namely in that anyone not bending the knee deeply enough to this order, unwilling to meekly submit, is hereby a threat, a bad actor, a grave danger to the world that must be dealt with. Harshly if need be.

For instance from the comfy confines of Plato's Cave, all that's seen is Russia Bad! China Bad! They're All Bad! That's all there is to it. Nuance need not apply, nor questioning, nor facts, nor history - only the narrative is important - eyes straight forward - unblinking...

No doubt this guy is well balanced:

Canadians should be angry about these traitors isolating Canada from China, from Russia, from Iran and their great cultures, and condemning Canada to be nothing more than an outpost of the American empire. For traitors they are as they betray the Canadian people by serving the interests of the Americans and their war machine. Free Meng Wanzhou, for so long as she is held hostage, so are we all.

I was actually paying attention until I read this (despite his somewhat questionable past clients, that's what attorneys do)

"The NATO-ordered indictment of Muammar Gaddafi by the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) during the NATO attack on Libya in 2011 echoed the indictment of President Milosevic by the prosecutor of the ad hoc International Criminal Tribunal For Yugoslavia, during the NATO attack on Yugoslavia in 1999. Both men ended up dead as a direct consequence, Gaddafi murdered by NATO-supported forces in Libya, Milosevic dead in his cell at Scheveningen in circumstances indicating criminal negligence or murder by the hands of the same forces. The indictments of these two men, whose only crime was to resist the diktats and imperial ambitions of the United States and its allies, had only one purpose, to serve as propaganda to justify NATO’s aggression and the elimination of governments that refused to bend the knee. Consequently, those that issued the indictments are co-conspirators in the planning and execution of those wars."

You'll have to do much better, Fred ... much, to satisfy me. Incidentally, his wikipedia page was removed by commitee vote. Is that because he is a truth-teller?

That's amusing. In the spirit of LS's comments you're much too busy blowing Uncle Sam's big red white and blue with one hand, while flag waving for empire with the other, for me to bother. You just keep doing you, and I'll stick with those that have some intellectual curiosity.

Alexander does an artful parsing of news stories around the Munich meeting. One article title riffs with the "it's the end of the world as we know it" song.

Better said is, "it's the end of the new world order as we know it"

    And I feel fine.

Aaron Maté doing what he does, a closer look at how empire views the grand chess board. In this focus, there's still more than meets the eye between the US, and (supposed) ally Germany.

The, "who cares what the people think", attitude with leaders shows they live in a bubble.

This is being seen all over the planet and reputation matters.

To underscore this point. Just as Zelensky warnly invites companies such as Blackrock to come swooping into Ukraine after the war, he tells us why at about the 1:45 mark here in his latest press conference. This is all about the Rules Based International Order. AKA the New World Order:

    Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vg2vpxIhvic

Now taking this just one step further, it shouldn't be all that difficult by this point to see it's all about this current world order flailing about to stay the king of the mountain against two other up and coming, competing great powers. This doesn't mean these two rising powers (Russia and China) are bad, it just means the former unipole power (the US), will do anything to keep this new multipolar world from emerging. No peer competitors allowed.

The Rules Based International Order doesn't stay on top by providing the best product or services, it stays on top by keeping the rest down on their knees. And that, is precisely what this is all about. Ukraine and Taiwan are mere expendable tools to this end.

Come on, Fred, you keep missing the point: What inclination of intellectual curiosity is required to indulge in that mentally distraught outpouring beyond an interest in abnormal psychology?

Germany had to be complicit with the blow up of Nordstream. The differences would have been irreconciliable if not. The only obvious outcome was for Germany to concede. Given the reality Germany recognized that the MUCH greater risk is Russian's Putin.

    US Hegemony and Its Perils

    US Hegemony and Its Perils

    February 2023

    Contents

    Introduction

    I. Political Hegemony—Throwing Its Weight Around

II. Military Hegemony—Wanton Use of Force

    III. Economic Hegemony—Looting and Exploitation

    IV. Technological Hegemony—Monopoly and Suppression

    V. Cultural Hegemony—Spreading False Narratives

    Conclusion

    Introduction

Since becoming the world's most powerful country after the two world wars and the Cold War, the United States has acted more boldly to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries, pursue, maintain and abuse hegemony, advance subversion and infiltration, and willfully wage wars, bringing harm to the international community.

The United States has developed a hegemonic playbook to stage "color revolutions," instigate regional disputes, and even directly launch wars under the guise of promoting democracy, freedom and human rights. Clinging to the Cold War mentality, the United States has ramped up bloc politics and stoked conflict and confrontation. It has overstretched the concept of national security, abused export controls and forced unilateral sanctions upon others. It has taken a selective approach to international law and rules, utilizing or discarding them as it sees fit, and has sought to impose rules that serve its own interests in the name of upholding a "rules-based international order."

This report, by presenting the relevant facts, seeks to expose the U.S. abuse of hegemony in the political, military, economic, financial, technological and cultural fields, and to draw greater international attention to the perils of the U.S. practices to world peace and stability and the well-being of all peoples.

    ...(snip)...

    Conclusion

While a just cause wins its champion wide support, an unjust one condemns its pursuer to be an outcast. The hegemonic, domineering, and bullying practices of using strength to intimidate the weak, taking from others by force and subterfuge, and playing zero-sum games are exerting grave harm. The historical trends of peace, development, cooperation, and mutual benefit are unstoppable. The United States has been overriding truth with its power and trampling justice to serve self-interest. These unilateral, egoistic and regressive hegemonic practices have drawn growing, intense criticism and opposition from the international community.

Countries need to respect each other and treat each other as equals. Big countries should behave in a manner befitting their status and take the lead in pursuing a new model of state-to-state relations featuring dialogue and partnership, not confrontation or alliance. China opposes all forms of hegemonism and power politics, and rejects interference in other countries' internal affairs. The United States must conduct serious soul-searching. It must critically examine what it has done, let go of its arrogance and prejudice, and quit its hegemonic, domineering and bullying practices.

That's an eminently reasonable statement. Of course, we know how 'reasonable' China is...that's the only fly in the ointment.

Garland Nixon is a very insightful guy, and has the natural talent of explaining complex situations in easily understandable terms. Here, he lays out just what is this "Rules Based Order", and does an excellent job of it:

Ok, but the United States has never put pressure on Sweden despite that they have been magnitudes AHEAD of its social rules based order when considered against the U.S.

Order is hierarchy, a very good point but it can also be just. The U.S. talks about international order but those other countries IMPOSE it. He mentions slaves? That is an internal not international imposed hierarchy. Examine that concept closely? Those at the bottom are abused by all in the hierarchy from one degree to another.

This guy is pretty good, though.

I would argue that the intent is to balance order (by the U.S. that is, the rest are not interested) The age of empire is going away with the current exception of Putin and the less advanced 2nd world nations. Colonial powers is a 'term' that is losing its symbolic/theatrical oomph in the 21st century. Though the continuum of history is important.

But he is discussing some very advanced social topics.

Ahh, he said it, the U.S. is 'telling' if not asking everybody what to do, not forcing them to do it...critical difference. BUT TRUE what he said!
