I love this show. I have a very good friend who was named after Shane. Obviously, his name is Shane. He's state champion in archery and shooting. His mother was so exhausted from childbirth she directed her brother to name her baby. Her clueless brother was watching Shane on TV in the delivery waiting room and when launched upon to name the baby, said "uhmmm....how about Shane!"

I have to say, women giving birth is taken for granted because that is the way it is. Fucking heroic is my attitude.

Never minds the monthly periods, for decades, required for fertility.

C'mon men, what part of your body would work for you to bleed from a few days every month?

"Being on the rag". So disrespectful.

Sorry for the rant. Made my mother smile though. Probably a few other women too.

I remember watching this guy when I was knee high to a curb. They worked hard, partied hard, and now it's an era gone by the wayside. Most of the big names are already gone anyway, the lifestyle wasn't conducive to longevity, so it's amazing he made it to 79.

This was a pretty good bit the old timers did at an in ring reunion in 2005. On this day they were all "baby faces", opening one last can of whoop ass on a next generation "heel":

    Pucker Factor 10 here

This guy had zero idea he was only a couple of seconds from splatting at terminal velocity, until it started to sink in once the automatic opener fired off his reserve chute, and he was safely on the ground. You can plainly see/hear it hitting him like a ton of bricks what just happened, putting the pieces together, and wondering how that kind of total loss of awareness happened to HIM!

That little piece of technology just saved his ass, everyone should have one of those on their rig just like people buckle up the seat belt for driving. Just in case.

The only time I ever jumped without an automatic opener was shortly after being off of student status, and trying out an older rig a buddy had just brought and wanted me to try. It really was different stepping out the door on that one, knowing that it's all on me old school like, no piece of attached technology there to act as guardian angel should I somehow fail to hold up my end of that bargain.

Loss of altitude awareness can happen to anyone. One thing instructors endlessly harp on in student training is "ALTITUDE AWARENESS - ALTITUDE AWARENESS - ALTITUDE AWARENESS".

It's right up there with the 3 most important things to do on a jump: "PULL - PULL - PULL"

So anyway, the clip starts with freefall, and at 13 seconds in they "wave off", which is the mandatory signal that it's time to break off away from each other, and pull the chutes.

He films himself waving off, yet for some weird reason (brain fart?) he continues his jump. You can see he's still messing around doing flips and stuff right until the automatic opener fires off, at 750'! Recommended pull altitude for licensed skydivers is 2,500'. Gives me the willies just watching that, if you ever wondered what it would be like to just take a typical 60 second freefall all the way in, watching this is about as close as you're going to get.

(Cypress is the automatic opener manufacturer)

This is old school funny, harkens back to when America (and the West in general) used to be able to just kick back every now and zen, and laugh at itself. Laughter, most especially at one's self or people, is a powerful therapeutic as an unintentional byproduct.

There was never a golden age here in general society, but there was a pretty good window first forced open by bold comedians in our grandparent's generation. Some still roam freely in the wild - albeit under extreme duress.

An old haunt of mine from back in the day, always loved that drive home from work through the west coast jungle scrub. Florida is unique in certain ways:
