I've said it before and I'll say it again, there is an undisclosed and unacknowledged undercurrent of Paranoia and Cultism over at PA.

Some of it comes as a natural consequence of focussing and encouraging paranoid conspiracy theories, but there is a connecting tissue with Scientology and its basic beliefs that explains a lot of the goings-on over there.

If I knew about the forum's links to Scientology beforehand, I would never have joined in the first place.

A lot of newer members are unaware that Scientology-based world views shape the general Zeitgeist of the forum, and it would be really helpful for people who dislike groupthink and cultish behaviour if they were properly informed. I think this thread on TOT is therefore a very valuable resource.

OMG I have been watching the netflix series about Scientology, as there seems to be so much fuss over it, and I knew little to nothing about it... I am not a church member of any denomination, so it is shocking to me to learn that this church has so many members, and that some are even being imprisone to keep them from escaping!

I just want to go on the record and say that there are members over there that in no way even have any interest in organized religion as they see it as more a trap full of lies of some sort, than any true growing and loving experience... I am surprised at just how many cults are still operating and functioning on this planet!

I come and go here and there equally, as easily as I leave my home daily, never feeling compelled or required rto do anything, or explain anything... And never have I been asked to donate... While some may see that type of structure over there? I really don't... Because I ignore things that I find to be meant to sell something, including one's personal beliefs and ideologies, as I have my own,

But I can see why people are leaving that church, including Bill... That religion, if you want to call it that, is a nightmare!

Hey there Denise. The above is a technicality. Bill is still very much so a Scientologist, and a very high level one at that, he's just part of the faction that peeled away from the official David Miscavige wing of the "church" back in the 80's. Didn't y'all talk about this during the session at Laughlin?

A Scientologist is still always a Scientologist, no different than a Baptist is still always a Baptist, just being of a different wing or faction of either doesn't change that simple basic fact.
