It's difficult to say whether it's worth getting one of these, because it's probably a very personal choice. On the topic of whether it's worth the money for what it offers, then the answer would probably be "yes". The materials — basswood body, roasted maple neck, et al — are all tried and tested, and they are used on very professional guitars. The retail price also includes the electronics, and therefore, for that amount — in between USD $500 and USD $600 — I'd say that you'd have a good instrument and definitely value for the money.
As for whether you should buy one of these, that's a whole other matter. The way I see it, this will appeal more to the non-gigging and home-recording artist, and then it would be a good investment. But for the gigging guitarist, having all of the electronics built into the guitar — Gibson also did that with a certain model (Firebird X) about a decade ago, and it was a commercial failure — is like putting all of your eggs into one basket, and the fact that you need to pair the thing with your smartphone is something I myself would shy away from. Sure, it plays into the smartphone hype/bubble that's currently "hot", but I personally prefer my guitars to just be guitars, and to use a separate effects unit — or multiple units as a fallback — and not having to rely on things like phones, Bluetooth and properly charged batteries.
So, yes, it has potential for home use, and it's probably of a high build quality, but for myself personally, it is not a recipe I would choose.![]()
