There is an overlap between the actuality and the fallout and manipulation. Going after any journalist who doesn't bow down to the corporate media and their social media lap dogs, is like shooting fish in a barrel. It is too easy. It's lazy and its untrue. Greenwald is absolutely correct.

The worst offender in the covert world was Cambridge Analytics, a British pro-conservative concern, who provided international services to promote their ideology, which is apparently, fascism.

"In March 2018, multiple media outlets broke news of Cambridge Analytica's business practices. The New York Times and The Observer reported that the company had acquired and used personal data about Facebook users from an external researcher who had told Facebook he was collecting it for academic purposes.[27]

Shortly afterwards, Channel 4 News aired undercover investigative videos showing Nix boasting about using prostitutes, bribery sting operations, and honey traps to discredit politicians on whom it conducted opposition research, and saying that the company "ran all of (Donald Trump's) digital campaign".

In response to the media reports, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) of the UK pursued a warrant to search the company's servers.[28][29] Facebook banned Cambridge Analytica from advertising on its platform, saying that it had been deceived.[30][31] On 23 March 2018, the British High Court granted the ICO a warrant to search Cambridge Analytica's London offices.[32] As a result, Nix was suspended as CEO, and replaced by Julian Wheatland.[33]"

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cambridge_Analytica

Cambridge Analytics, imo, supports and tries to further the aims of international fascism. The republicans represent one form, through neo-conservtism, where the Democrats represent neo-liberal corporatism with a veneer of democracy. They aren't any better and have now moved so far to the militaristic side that they have surpassed the conservatives, in terms of being war mongers. Left wing, right wing, two wings of the same bird.

Marcy Wheeler does some great examination of Glen Greenwald and his propaganda (her word choice).

The Daily Beast paints a good picture of his antics.

This past month has occasioned spectacular success, of a sort, for the pugnacious contrarian pundit, an erstwhile leftist journalist-turned-Donald Trump defender who once again is proving his mastery of the right-wing media ecosystem.

Indeed, in a self-perpetuating feedback loop that runs from Twitter to Fox News and back again, Greenwald has managed, like Trump before him, to orchestrate his very own news cycles.
And now he is effectively operating as something of a Fox News assignment editor, as indicated by The Daily Beast’s spot check of the frequency with which Greenwald’s online musings on social media and elsewhere, especially his Substack page, have served as the basis for dozens of articles on Fox News’ website.
For the most part, the FoxNews.com stories have tended to celebrate Greenwald’s slashing critiques of non-Fox media personalities, such as a recent article inspired by his tweet trashing MSNBC anchor Nicolle Wallace for misreporting, along with other media outlets, that Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani was warned by the FBI that he was the target of a Russian disinformation campaign. (MSNBC and other outlets ultimately corrected the error.) A similar piece, written a couple weeks later, highlighted Greenwald’s Substack post in which he blasted “resistance journalism.” Of course, Fox News made sure to identify Greenwald as a “progressive journalist,” apparently to enhance the man-bites-dog credibility of his claims.

Besides obsessively repurposing Greenwald’s complaints about other media personalities—sometimes publishing multiple Greenwald-related pieces in the same day—the network also creates entire outrage cycles from Greenwald tweets, transforming tiny kernels into the media equivalent of a bag of popcorn.
For instance, a January tweet about what Greenwald called the “monster” of so-called “cancel culture” not only prompted his appearance on the Fox News Channel but also an online article about him “sounding the alarm” on the “cancel culture mob.”
Fox News in general, and Laura Ingraham’s and Tucker Carlson’s primetime shows in particular, have also provided Greenwald with a vital perch from which to stir the right-wing media cocktail. A review of television transcripts indicates that Greenwald has racked up at least 72 appearances on Fox since December 2017—40 of them on Tucker Carlson Tonight.

Ingraham, meanwhile, has booked him on 14 different episodes, followed by nine appearances on Fox News Primetime, three on Kurtz’s MediaBuzz, two each on Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo and Martha MacCallum’s now-defunct The Story, and one booking each on Watters’ World, the defunct Bill Hemmer Reports and the now-cancelled midnight show, Fox News @ Night. (Those figures do not include insomniac-friendly replays of Greenwald’s segments.)
Glen’s reaping rich rewards in attention and publicity from the right-wing media ecosystem by targeting his erstwhile Intercept comrades in remarkably personal terms.

During a recent appearance on YouTube’s The Jimmy Dore Show, where he prosecuted his indictments against the Intercept’s reporting, Greenwald called out editor-in-chief Betsy Reed as an example of the “shit liberals” and “liberal DNC hacks” who “crave nothing more than mainstream media approval”; Reed’s deputy editors Roger Hodge and Peter Maass, meanwhile, are “those little eunuchs she has working under her,” he claimed.
“This is a totally made-up controversy. It’s manufactured. There’s no there there,” said Reed, who joined The Intercept from The Nation in late 2015 with Greenwald’s blessing. “There’s no kernel of truth to Glenn’s crusade. That is what I think is fundamentally different from the old Glenn
Former New York Times journalist and “Riot Squad” author Robert Mackey—whom Greenwald had personally recruited to The Intercept on the strength of his Times work live-blogging major news events, making documentaries, and analyzing social media—practices his journalism while “sitting on his fat white ass on the couch,” Greenwald told Dore.
(Needless to say, Greenwald didn’t mention his key role in eagerly lobbying Mackey to leave the Times in 2016.)
In another curious omission on The Jimmy Dore Show, Greenwald went after one of his favorite targets, Times tech reporter (and former Daily Beast staffer) Taylor Lorenz, for her “unhealthy fixation” on billionaire Silicon Valley venture capitalist Marc Andreessen—but failed to mention that Andreessen is a major investor, to the tune of $15 million, in Substack, and is leading a new fundraising round of $65 million for Greenwald’s latest journalistic platform.
Greenwald’s most astonishing verbal assault, however, was aimed at computer security engineer Micah Lee, director of information security for the Intercept’s parent company, First Look Media, and author of the Gab story. Lee had been essential to Greenwald’s two greatest journalistic triumphs.

As a staff technologist at the Electronic Frontier Foundation in 2013, Lee connected Greenwald, then at The Guardian, with National Security Agency whistleblower Edward Snowden (after Greenwald hadn’t responded to Snowden’s attempts to contact him), teaching him how to use encrypted communication and helping him navigate Snowden’s classified data dump that revealed the NSA’s widespread surveillance of private citizens—reporting for which The Guardian shared the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service.
    Oh dear, back-stabber extraordinaire.

Yet after the release of Micah Lee’s Gab story—which, contrary to Greenwald’s indignant claims, doxed no one and simply documented that the platform hosts a range of Jan. 6 insurrectionists, anti-Semites, QAnon conspiracy theorists, white supremacists, and other extremists—Greenwald tweeted a photo of Lee, along with the warning: “If you, your relatives, or your friends are Gab users, remember that @micahflee is spending his days and nights trolling through your/their personal data with the intent…to expose them if they have the wrong ideology.”

Lee and members of his family had already been hassled by an Internet stalker with a criminal record soon after the Gab story was posted in early May, but in due course the stalking had fizzled—that is, until Greenwald’s tweet which, predictably, inspired a new wave of online harassment.
Intercept editor Roger Hodge theorizes that money is probably behind at least some of Greenwald’s adventures in right-wing media.

“He needs subscribers and he’s giving people what they want, which is hatred and rage,” Hodge told The Daily Beast. “He’s tapped into the rage machine. He understands that there’s no engagement like rage engagement.”
    For the love of money...

Here's more to watch out for, they're everywhere! "So called" journalist Matt Tiabbi, aided and abetted by accomplices Krystal Ball and Saager Enjeti of "Rising", expose themselves as yet three more secret agents of the right wing tossing red meat to FOX NEWS, by shamelessly accusing democrats Joe Biden, Hunter Biden, and Hillary Clinton, of misfeasance; and to seal they're fate, they callously suggest "Russiagate" is ridiculous. Listen to people long enough and they will tell you exactly who they are. In this case, obvious right wing schills. They're not even trying to hide it any more.

There's no reason to look beyond Glen and Jimmy for smears. Both are backstabbing their former employers. Both engage in ad hominem which would get them kicked off this forum.

Jimmy had no reason to post a video about Ana's skirt. There's no reason to initiate that. No professional reason, anyway. If a person thinks the ideals or mission of TYT is off, speak of that. Not Ana's attributes.

And now Jimmy's getting personal on Emma who apparently also used to work at TYT.

He seems to like to start his bits with personal characterizations and dramatic hyperbole. I guess that makes what he says next appear to be more sincere or serious.

I don't even want to quote Glen, he says nasty stuff about the folks he used to work for and brought into the fold.

It's really no surprise that they both go on Tucker Carlson's show. It's an entertainment and propaganda show.

Do they aspire to reach Tucker's depth of depraved rhetoric?

'I'm not saying they do, I'm just asking questions.' (aka the Tucker Carlson Defense)

I hope Glen and Jimmy don't actually believe they're doing real work for society going on this path. Unless they believe that breaking it apart is real work.

We certainly know one moderator here who would completely ignore member Ana, repeatedly telling member Aaron Maté to fuck off, with both her and member Cenk insisting he's a traitor with absolutely zero evidence to back it up.

Except that she tried tp basically blackmail him with "Me Too" via text, that's why he brought it up, to expose it, but that's already been demonstrated and ignored in lieu of the home team.

Just too nasty and obscene eh? "The Intercept" was no longer allowing Glenn to operate freely, thus not able to write about some embarrassing things that may upset the cherished democratic establishment.

They would both certainly appear on MSNBC, but they won't have a true lefty on. By the way Rachel Maddow used the same defense. Contrary to popular belief, republicans aren't the only party in town that do stuff in the shadows which needs exposing.

Right, well once again, stick tight to Cenk and Ana as they denounce the true journalists (like Julian Assange as well), hyper focus on the sins of republicans, while ignoring the sins of democrats from their air conditioned studios in L.A. Also help them spread the word to not push for things Medicare for All, and vote blue no matter who. There might even be another badge in the offing fer ya.

Julian Assange? He's an operative for all the bad guys in the world ... I don't know how people continue to fail to see that. There are decent folks on both sides, Fred, but Assange isn't one of them.

And never forget ... I measure good and decency on those that seek truth for the sake of truth and not for reasons of blatant political hatred. That's as depraved and damaging to societal wellbeing as straight up lying.

Is it possible to stick to the issues at hand rather than get personal? I'm super bored with the supposed reading of my thoughts and emotions. Can't you find a new schtick, Fred?

The issue, as far as I'm concerned, is the continued effort to take eyes off the ball and rag on the Democrats who did not lead us down the path we're on. The major power has been coming from the right, not the left. The Dems don't have the money, the organization, the militias, etc. The majority they currently have, which isn't leftist in any way, is miniscule.

We've never had a former President interfere in the running of the country the way that Trump is. We've always had peaceful transfers of power until this year.

I'm not going to be diverted by Glen's bullshit while the Republicans are literally trying to burn the house down. I'm not going to be diverted by Jimmy's bullshit while the Russians have their hands up the asses of numerous Republicans.

    Sorry. Not falling for it.

I'm also happy to leave this thread alone because Glen and Jimmy are, imo, a waste of time.

Ah, I see, in continually avoiding the original subject of this thread, and ignoring TYT's delve into the new age of McCarthyism, now *I'm* the one not sticking to the issues at hand. There's a word for that DT, it's called obfuscation. It's something people do when they wish to avoid the meat and potatoes of any given topic.

It's pretty obvious where you stand, one doesn't need be a mind reader to see the obsession with Trump, republicans, and Russia.

Well the issue at hand was TYT as an example of the establishment left's Russiagating of people, with zero evidence, but obviously you won't touch that with a ten foot pole so now we're back to the same old talking points as above.

And right on cue! The original subject was Glenn Greenwald calling out TYT, but you can't be diverted by that, because of the obsession with Trump, republicans, and Russia. Am I just reading your thoughts and emotions again, or did you really just really do that. Yet again.
