Alright, well, if that's the level of understanding you're prepared to plant your flag at then god bless ya, but I'm moving on with it.

What is a sign of healthy research, IMO, is rather than "fuck this person - fuck that person", challenging these people in power with information gleaned from good research

Moments like that may not stop a war, or end a career, but they have a way or raising awareness in those of the mindset to be open to it. That's called planting seeds, and I wouldn't be here typing this had it not been for someone else's planted seed years ago. Nothing goes to waste.

    Yeah...
"Resorting to" almost makes it sound dirty. Oooooh, you had to go back 25 years to make a point? Maybe that's how far back we have to go to remind ourselves of what an anti war movement looks like.

Although I do like some good research. I just don't think that researched arguments and exposure will do a whole lot more than fucking.
That's not the point. The point is do you want to educate yourself on what's really going on concerning any given aspect or reality, or just succumb to "The Narrative" like a good little worker bee? Life certainly is easier with the latter.

Now so far as research being compared to fucking, sometimes fucking bears results. Together, you bring something new into this world. But even if it's all for naught I'll take the road of "Winston Smith", the little weed that managed to heroically grow through a crack in the sidewalk before being stepped on, over succumbing to being satisfied with Big Brother's daily "Two Minutes of Hate" sessions.

That's a fate worse than hell in my book. A failed life. And maybe, just maybe, that's what it's all about in the end. "Were you able to find your way out of 'Plato's Cave' before the lights went out?"

I suspected as much: Now I understand why that fine young cannibal...oops, I meant Repubican was beating on Albright, she was a Democrat...he was less concerned about all else. I was going to check to see if he became a Repub politician, but f*ck it, who cares. I respect your effort, Fred.

I am slowly but surely coming to terms with the fact that I am living a failed life according to the measure of numerous others.
I'll leave you to it, until feeling the urge to react again.

If there's anything that my nearly 60 years on this backwater planet have taught me, then it's to never judge yourself by the measure of others, or to allow others to judge you by their measure — the latter will probably occur even more often than the former.

It's your life, and only you are entitled to cast judgment upon yourself. The flipside of the coin however is that you then also owe it to yourself — and indirectly, also to others — to periodically reevaluate yourself. Many people forget about that obligation — everyone's always eager to see the splinter in someone else's eye while completely missing the beam in their own — although I'm pretty sure you probably did not overlook that aspect.

Amen to that, I agree wholeheartedly. No one knows the inner you better than you and that applies to everyone.

Whoa now, I'm talking research being the passion of my own life, not laying that on anyone else. You do you and I'll do me.

We've known each other for a long time Eelco, what's going on here? You're having the urge to react, as opposed to talking things through? I thought we were just having a conversation.

    History Repeating Itself

This book by former CIA agent John Stockwell, today in modern times would display a title eerily similar:

Spring 2023: As Kiev Falls, the CIA destabilizes Taiwan in preparation for the next war.

I would agree. At least Western society would define success as having a good income and lots of money in the bank, having a big house, a fancy car or two, social prestige, a good reputation and so on. Nothing wrong with that really, but it's just a stereotype which is about keeping up with the Joneses. In my mind real success is having found not perhaps happiness, but meaning and contentment in your life after self-realizing the things you have wanted to realize or do. You tried your best and you can sleep well because your conscience is clean. I don't want to place judgment on others, but I would say that a failed life would be where one has truly wasted all the chances they've got in abusing and exploiting others while turning into a complete self-hating jerk.

What Fred is talking about here is that most people sleepwalk through life never questioning the official narrative in any matter.

They're the people we wouldn't consider to be awakened, but then again awakening is a multilayered thing.

Exactly Cats, do you think you might need to see a doctor about depression. Don't be afraid to do it, I did and it quite literally turned my life around.

The pointless mad war continues while Bakhmut falls. Come springtime, something bigger might happen.

Interesting reading this through. I'm pretty familiar with the criticisms leveled at the U.S. and am in agreement with nearly all of them. Now, if you can retain those criticisms, understanding that although those fundamentals are still largely intact, they are also subject to change in a dynamic global environment.

Unfortunately there are two narratives currently fighting for dominance. One is that Russia is the bad guy and the other that Russia is practicing the best defense is offense'

I'm in the 'I just don't really know' camp, because I assume I can't know all of the variables involved for all of the reasons already mentioned on the thread.

Something I like to do, is follow macro-economic, political analysts and see what they have to say. The dude I am going to link to has obvious bias but he outlines fairly objectively what Russia is up against, though I wouldn't say he is pro-Russia. He also doesn't demonize anybody. I don't know if this is the best video of Peter Zeihan. If not Zeihan has his own channel you can take your pick of topics and several about Russia, Ukraine.

PeterZiehan, the geo-political strategist claims that after Spring thaw, it will be so muddy that Ukraine will lose home team advantage as its tanks will be bogged down.

Also astrologer Steve Judd says ts is going to htf, come May. He didn't elaborate but it looks like the stars are aligning in a way that favors a clusterfluck right around major mud time.
