An interesting article about the reality of the reality of international politics. Though this writer shouldn't have included Julian Assange in his list of bad guys.

Reader, I think I’ve finally figured it out. I don’t mean that I’ve figured out whether Russians influenced the outcome of the American election—I doubt even the Robert Mueller investigation will be able to answer that question. I mean that I’ve figured out how to think about what we know and not go crazy. The answer lies in the concept of the Mafia state.

I am pretty certain the repugs will take the next federal election. It's being engineered that way.

It's a funny thing. I usually get told I'm not patriotic. I get asked why I hate America. That's the rhetoric these days.

In the W Bush years "they" hated our way of life. They were the muslims.

This exact same rhetoric is now being used to describe liberals in America. "They hate our freedom! They hate our way of life!" The is now the rhetoric being used to pit Americans against each other.

Think about how people have been conditioned by those words over the last decades.

Overrun is not just a physical thing. It can be economic and social. And if we tear ourselves apart...

We're allowing ourselves to be played over Covid, vaccines, Russia, and more. If we can't discern and stop this, we will get manipulated into all kinds of trouble. Americans are too busy side-taking/both-sidering to see what's going in around them.

I wouldn't take Trump at his word over NATO. His motives were always personal. And he played into all the hatred and CT over NATO. It's part of the New World Order, right? Trump's a good don. He knows the words to use.

What I care about is Americans not letting themselves be manipulated. But they have to take their blinders off.

An atmosphere where you question problems and get called an unpatriotic hater is a very sick one.

More unrest feeds into a World War dynamic. It's very unhealthy.

The US navy just screwed up big time. A state of the art fighter jet crashed and sank into waters very close to China. There is now a race to find it. It's going to take some time for our salvage ship to get there. Meanwhile, China's looking for it, though they say otherwise.

Yep, read about it in the news, and it was also mentioned at Slashdot. It's an F-35. And it is possible that the Chinese aren't even looking for it, because what the Chinese have is actually better than an F-35, and they know it.

Better than the F-35, the overpriced and long past over budget warrior? I'd have to see some hard data and in flight video to buy that one, Aragorn. Americans may be stupid, but they know how to build killing machines with the VERY best of them.

The long-range capability could be seen as an advantage but what I read is that avionics systems aren't equal. The F-35 has the superior capability. In any case, I'm sure either side would love to get their hands on a 'foreign' craft.

I think humanity has still a long way to go before it can let go of the tribalism.

The sense of separation is the origin of conflict and all wars, battles of ideas and thoughts turn into something much worse.

For me, the loss of the F-35 is more important as to the topic of this thread, as opposed to it's capabilities or the retrieval storyline. Once again we have a carrier group prancing around in the South China Sea, same as they just love to do in other places like the Black Sea. The U.S. refers to it as policing the world's oceans to ensure freedom of navigation, the countries they continuously encroach upon would call it needless provocation.

After all, how would the U.S. react to regular such incursions into the Gulf of Mexico by say, Russia or China? Would the U.S. buy that kind of a reason, or would they be screaming foul?

I don't see that as any different to NATO's (U.S.) constant inching closer and closer to Russia, which of course breaks a promise that this would never happen.

I wonder how the U.S. might react to Russia or China creating military alliances with Mexico's northern states?

The issue of the F-35 and Chinese fighter jet technology is interesting.

I think we have to separate different capabilities here.

In terms of traditional capabilities and physical characteristics, the F-35 is shit, well behind 4 th generation fighters in every sense, it is actually a step back. However, it has advanced avionics, smart weapons and stealth, which means it can sneak up on an adversary and shoot them down potentially before they even realise they're there. That's quite an advantage.

As for Chinese jets, I understand they are far behind the Russians, who are also not quite on the level of the Americans, though new jets, under development are catching up to the likes of the F-22. I don't think the Chinese air force could match the US in quality, especially if you consider training and experience.
