Trump’s intel pick was placed on government watch list for overseas travel and foreign connections

By Katie Bo Lillis, Zachary Cohen and Holmes Lybrand, CNN

How Trump's DNI pick Tulsi Gabbard ended up on a TSA watch list, according to sources

Tulsi Gabbard, Donald Trump’s pick to lead the intelligence community, was briefly placed on a Transportation Security Administration list that prompts additional security screening before flights after her overseas travel patterns and foreign connections triggered a government algorithm earlier this year, three sources familiar with the matter told CNN.

Gabbard was quickly removed from the list, a little-known program called “Quiet Skies,” after going public with claims she had been added to a “secret terror watchlist.” A federal official familiar with the program told CNN there are specified criteria for removing or adding individuals and that no one is removed from the list because of public statements they make.

Gabbard has claimed she was put on the list because she had criticized then-presidential candidate Kamala Harris in an interview with Fox News — something two of the sources flatly denied had anything to do with it.

“The TSA placed me on the Quiet Skies domestic terror watchlist in what I can only describe as the ultimate betrayal,” she said in a post on X in September. “The Harris-Biden regime has now labeled me a domestic terror threat. Why? They see me as a threat to their power.”

The episode has raised eyebrows among security officials, who point to Gabbard’s history of unusual relationships overseas. As a member of Congress in 2017, she worked outside of official channels to travel to Syria to meet with President Bashar al-Assad.

CNN has reached out to Gabbard for comment.

The circumstances that led to Gabbard’s inclusion on Quiet Skies may be entirely benign, these sources said. But for a nominee for a top position — much less the director of national intelligence — to have been placed on a government watchlist of any kind is highly unusual, if not unprecedented, several US officials said.

Under normal circumstances, one official said, Gabbard would be forced to explain the underlying foreign travel or contacts in question during her background check.

But Trump has indicated that he may eschew the normal background check process for his top nominees, raising questions about what, if anything, Gabbard will be required to disclose — or whether national security officials will even be given an opportunity to assess if Gabbard’s conduct posed any risk.

The Quiet Skies algorithm looks at travel patterns, foreign connections and other data in a variety of government holdings, and if triggered, leads to additional security screening at the airport by Air Marshals. But it is not associated with the FBI’s terrorist watch list. Security officials from multiple agencies told CNN that the program is known inside the government for having far laxer standards for inclusion.

“TSA uses multi-layered security processes to protect the nation’s transportation systems and ensure freedom of movement for people and commerce,” the agency said in a statement. “TSA’s Quiet Skies program is a risk-based, automated approach to transportation security, to include identifying potential risks and applying enhanced security measures.”

The statement continued: “TSA’s Quiet Skies program is not a terrorist watchlist. It leverages USG intelligence information and databases to apply screening measures.”

“It’s a screening mechanism,” CNN national security analyst Carrie Cordero said of the program, which is “based on different indicators that are assembled and flags an individual for further security screening before they get on a domestic flight.”

That screening, Cordero said, is to make sure “that they are a safe person to get on an airplane.”

The episode adds another specter of uncertainty to a nominee whose history of unorthodox foreign policy positions — in particular public statements that critics say echo Russian talking points — has already left some GOP senators profoundly uncomfortable.

And case in point, an example at the utter, self defeating nature of this great fall. Think you're safe by just being a brown nosing ally? Think again. In this environment nobody is safe, even a close friend will suffer the wrath if not remaining in 100% compliance with Big Daddy's lunatic demands.

What we're watching here essentially with the US led world order, is the desperate, thrashing death throes of a drowning man. And good people are lining right up behind the lunatic fringe like this fucking demon in human form cheering it on. And we still talk of how people could have possibly not only tolerated, but supported the Third Reich? Pfffftttt, the same damn thing has already happened, and is still happening, right before our very eyes:

Sebastion Sas with another excellent examination of Western headlines about the Ukrainian conflict and Russia's new intermediate range missile.

I'm old enough to remember how things were back in the 80's, and even the thought of a nuclear exchange with the then Soviet Union, was a terrifying thought to rational people - which was the vast majority of us. And that was a good thing, a healthy attitude, like exercising caution as to not step out in front of a bus. The Cuban Missile Crisis was only about as far in the rearview mirror at that time as 9/11 is for us today.

It was just generally accepted as axiomatic that we do everything we could to avoid even the potential of a misunderstanding, our enemy felt the same way they love their children too - the leaders of both sides talked regularly, major arms control agreements were struck, sturdy guardrails were put into place to keep any stray event on the straight and narrow. The two Cold Warriors found a way to live in peace side by side with one another, it worked, and these were the neocons of the day that did this on our side!

Then came the early 90's, Gorbachev decided to stand down and call it a day. It was not a defeat, although of course that's the way the West took it, it was more "let's just wind all this down and reset".

Drunk on the intoxicant of being the only great power left standing, the unipole, the West has spent the last 30 years solidifying its position as rulers of the universe. Because we became to powerful and unassailable, especially after the resounding display of unmatched military and technological prowess of the first Gulf War against Iraq. Eventually even basics like polite diplomatic relations atrophied, and died, essentially replaced by "Do As We Say Or Else!", and that's where we still stand today.

    Only one problem:

The rest of the world was slowly catching up during this time, smart technology spread. It's easy to forget that the very foundations of this vast sprawling US led Rules Based International Order were built upon the ruins of WW2. There was no competition other than the Soviet Union.

Today there stands not just one super power, but three great powers with more in the on deck circle. The unipole moment is over, a new multipolar world has not just been born, it's now rapidly growing into a young gangly teenager eager to go out and spread those wings without fear of Big Daddy. And this is what the big fight is today. Big Daddy liked the way things were when he could just crack that whip and make things happen, he still cannot believe his eyes that not only has that glory slipped through his fingers, it's gone forever.

But in his supreme arrogance and narcissistic self image he just can't accept that. He will never accept that. Only problem is the more he scrambles to get it back, the farther it slips off into the distance. The more the rest of the world (the peasantry) sees Big Daddy trying to drag them back home to the plantation, the more grimly determined they become to gather in unison against a common enemy. It could be looked at like the semi grown children in the household of a violent alcoholic father, teaming up to restrain him from beating them and their mother any more. *They've had enough, and they'd just as soon die as go back to the old ways. It's over*.

So this is where we are. The US and her loyal vassals equal around 1 billion souls (The Golden Billion), but many of these souls have been taught to lose that healthy fear and respect of another devastating World War. "It can't happen any more, and if it did, it would just be *them* that gets obliterated". And that's exactly what's needed, a favorable public opinion of people dutifully ignorant of objective reality, to keep this train a 'rollin without an eruption of mass protests the likes of which we also had back in the 80's. Can't have that shit, and we don't. Propaganda really does work, and it especially works on those who don't believe there's any propaganda aimed at them.

"We're good/They're bad", that's about all we need to know.

    In Summation:

Big Daddy could end it all right now just by reading the room so to speak, understanding objective reality, and become another nation at the big table with the other 6 billion souls; albeit a still extremely powerful and influential nation. The world would welcome this, they would rejoice and celebrate a new Golden Age of prosperity and opportunity for all, but it's not going to happen because that's not what Big Daddy is all about.

Because as in the classic movie Highlander - There Can Be Only One.

Big Daddy will bring an end to history before he'll *willingly*, and willingly is the key word, join that table.

And that's the sad tragic truth of our time. We are the bad guys...
I don't know, Fred. You might have a point, but we shouldn't ever forget that nations that require insulation from the rest of the world beyond exploitation (Current U.S., Iran, Russia, China, et al.) are salivating at any prospect of sitting in the Main Chair. It has to be someone who is The One. And that One should possess a moral and ethical conscience that supersedes predatory animals. It would seem those stepping up to the plate have only an appetite for fresh meat.

The difference between empire's "Team Blue", and "Team Red"? It's actually quite substantial:

"Team Blue" goes on the rampage under the guise of being humanitarians, getting the bad guys and saving democracy.

"Team Red"? Pftttt, they don't even bother any more it's just right there in your face, and fuck right on off if you don't like it.

Putin says that Trump will find a solution to the ongoing conflict, and that he believes Trump’s life is STILL in danger after multiple assassination attempts.

Putin says that the Deep States’ actions have been “uncivilized”, and that their behavior is too low, even for Russian gangsters, who do not bring family members into business.

Based on these statements, I think it’s safe to assume that Trump and Putin are indeed in contact with one another, and are negotiating to find a solution to the rising provocations from Ukraine/US/NATO.

Putin knows he just has to hold off until Trump is sworn in, and the threat of nuclear war will be over, the conflict in Ukraine will be over, and NATO’s expansion will be over.

I’ve been saying for years that Putin is an enemy of the Deep State, and he just proved it again.

Trump and Putin will stop WW3.

    National Endowment For Democracy 101

    Origin:

    ...

The late 1970s was a remarkable period. Spurred by Watergate - the Senate's Church committee, the House's Pike committee and the Rockefeller Commission were investigating the CIA. The CIA was getting an exceedingly bad name and it caused the powers-that-be much embarrassment.

Something had to be done. In 1983, under President Reagan, the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) was set up to "support democratic institutions throughout the world through private, nongovernmental efforts." In 1991, Allen Weinstein, who helped draft the legislation establishing NED, candidly said: "A lot of what we do today was done covertly 25 years ago by the CIA."1 In effect, the CIA launders money through NED.

NED meddles in the internal affairs of foreign countries by supplying funds, technical know-how, training, educational materials, computers, faxes, copiers, and cars, to selected political groups, civic organizations, unions, dissidents, student groups, publishers and newspapers, etc. NED programs generally impart the philosophy that citizens are best served by free enterprise, class cooperation, collective bargaining, minimal government intervention in the economy and opposition to socialism. A free-market economy is equated with democracy, reform and growth. The merits of foreign investment are emphasized.

    In Georgia:

Interview | Damon Wilson, President of the National Endowment for Democracy

In Tbilisi today, Civil Georgia’s Editor-in-Chief Otar Kobakhidze sat down with Damon Wilson, the President, and CEO of the National Endowment for Democracy to discuss Georgia’s EU and NATO integration, the role of civil society and independent media for the Georgian democracy, as well as how country’s politics is seen in Washington DC. For the last couple of years, NED has been one of the key donors of Civil.ge.

NED Welcomes Victoria Nuland to the Board of Directors

Is it a coincidence that both Syria, and Georgia, have gone red hot yet again? I think not.

Syrian Independent Media Outlet Celebrates 10 Years

The Syrian civil war has continued over a decade, killing hundreds of thousands of Syrians and displacing millions. Throughout the complex conflict, Syrian citizen journalists have risked their lives to provide timely, objective coverage of the war, as well as other issues important to Syrians. This year, independent media outlet Enab Baladi—a partner of the National Endowment for Democracy celebrates 10 years of reporting on the ground in Syria despite significant challenges.

    ...
    https://www.ned.org/syrian-independe...ates-10-years/

    And of course Ukraine:

NED STANDS IN SOLIDARITY WITH UKRAINE

The National Endowment for Democracy (NED) has been a proud partner of Ukraine’s civil society groups, media outlets, and human rights defenders since 1989—before the Ukrainian people declared independence in 1991—as they have confronted enormous challenges in building an independent and free country. Ukraine today represents the epicenter of the struggle for freedom. As such, NED continues to provide assistance to independent civic groups and media to help strengthen the Ukrainian people’s ability to determine their own future.

Wherever the NED is, war and/or regime change is sure to follow.
