Joe is a typical politican, all talk and mostly empty promises. He is there to keep the status quo.

Trump on the other hand was not a politician, he was a narcissistic toddler leading USA and frankly he made the circus look even more laughable and even amusing at times. USA became the laughing stock of the world because of that moron. What was not fun was the fact that he also became a Qult leader and divider in chief. He made Americans even more divided than ever before and encouraged the collective psychosis among his followers. Sadly it is very possible that he might run again and win, because there won’t be any real noteworhy contesters in 2024 unless something radically changes.

My usual off topic: That music video that you posted was from "American Gods". Mr. Aianawa is quite lovable but his perception is more than a might twisted. It's, well it's, magical.

Here's what historian Kearns Goodwin has to say. (Of course, we're only just past 100 days):

In fact, Kearns Goodwin compared the strategic progression of Biden's initiatives to FDR's. Roosevelt, she said, "moved systemically from the banking crisis to jobs and then regulation of the stock market." Now Biden is making a similar turn, she said, from the pandemic to his jobs plan and the systemic reforms he's folding into his proposals.

The other tantalizing idea Kearns Goodwin suggested is the fact that any president who masters a crisis that his predecessor failed to handle is usually on the path to being judged very favorably by history, while the former guy is crushed for all time.

"Think about President Hoover," she said, "unable to handle the crisis of the Depression—considered one of the worst presidents. FDR, able to do it, one of the best. Buchanan, unable to handle the growing secession of the states and the growing divisions between the North and the South—considered one of the worst of American presidents. Abraham Lincoln coming in and becoming one of the best."
(Seuss and Potato-Head and 'cancel culture' won't be large historical factors, imo)

Maybe it's me that is twisted... I see in Biden everything that I expected, he knows what people want and he strives to give it to them. If that isn't acceptable then it is plainly obvious why we are so dissatisfied with the polity. A double-bind my friends. Politic and apolitic are as they appear, mutually exclusive.

Not to mention leftist "wokeness". I saw yesterday where James Carville a leftist stated that it is a real problem for the left and the leftists themselves. James Carville has always been a voice of reason but most that have a problem with it, despite being from the left have the usual 'southern accent'. The metadata in our minds is usually there unaccompanied by reason and insight. A human factor that renders us 'un-woke'. It is the parochial versus the catholic dynamic and there seem to be limited ways of escaping it.

The UAE has been part of the American fabric of international security for 30 years. When I worked for Lockheed-Martin in the 90's I worked on the F-16s for the UAE. Even attended a party for a new contract with them. Biden's, the people include people like you and me AND people like Aianawa and Modwiz. It's a wide spectrum of desires that a true representative of the 'people' has to satisfy. I'd bet dollars to donuts that Biden would have let the deal happen without the donation. That's an example of a connection with no context, a red herring, a misapprehension ... call it what I will.

"Unlawful Yemen Attacks and Detainee Abuse
The UAE is a leading member of the Saudi-led coalition operating in Yemen. Human Rights Watch has documented about 90 apparently unlawful coalition attacks, some likely war crimes, since March 2015.

Coalition members have provided insufficient information about the role their forces are playing in the campaign to determine which are responsible for unlawful attacks. In March 2015, the Emirati State news agency reported that the UAE had deployed 30 aircraft to take part in coalition operations. In March 2017, after a helicopter attacked a boat carrying Somali migrants and refugees off Yemen’s coast, killing and wounding dozens, a member of the UAE armed forces said UAE forces were operating in the area but denied carrying out the attack.

The UAE leads coalition efforts in southern Yemen, including by supporting Yemeni forces carrying out security campaigns. Human Rights Watch has documented abuses by UAE proxy forces, including use of excessive force during arrests, detaining family members of wanted suspects to pressure them to “voluntarily” turn themselves in,"

"The State Department spokesperson said on Tuesday the estimated delivery dates on the UAE sales, if implemented, were for after 2025 or later.

The government anticipated "a robust and sustained dialogue with the UAE" to ensure a stronger security partnership, the spokesperson said in an emailed statement.

"We will also continue to reinforce with the UAE and all recipients of U.S. defense articles and services that U.S.-origin defense equipment must be adequately secured and used in a manner that respects human rights and fully complies with the laws of armed conflict," the statement said.

The Biden administration is also reviewing its policy for military sales to Saudi Arabia, including some Trump-era weapons deals, in light of the Saudi involvement in Yemen and other human rights concerns.

It has not released the results of that review. In February, U.S. officials told Reuters the administration was considering canceling past deals that posed human rights concerns and limiting future sales to “defensive” weapons."

International politics is never as straightforward as the talking heads want to make it. Kuklinski is a rabble-rouser.

My niece wants to see 'radical change'. She's in her twenties. She's not alone. The energy of youth is frightening to those who don't want to see change.

I worry about the unintended consequences of 'radical change' wherever the impetus is coming from .

The leftist idiocy is distinct in one very important way. The left has no figure like Trump. The left also does not have militias with training camps. The left doesn't have the media, because the media is beholden to money and shareholders, which are most certainly not the left.

Biden has never been a leftist. He has always been centrist.

I have been looking at progressive and liberal outlets. Almost all have been negative about Biden because they don't see him as left or progressive.

Now, after the first one hundred days, some left outlets are expressing surprise at Biden. He's being much more progressive than anyone on the left expected. So they're pleasantly surprised.

And they're not happy about wars and weapons, because they never are.

The socialist accusations are so ludicrous to me since we have no real socialism here.

Americans really need to stop letting themselves be manipulated by fear-mongering from the right.

They need to stop letting folks like Carlson claim that someone else is going to 'force' him to become a fascist.

If that's a real dynamic, then Mr. No-Backbone needs to go back home and eat his cereal with his silver spoon.

I'm still in wait-and-see mode, as I've said. So my personal opinion of Biden has not yet been expressed.

The recent numbers about American optimism are high. Higher than they've been in a long time. When Americans are optimistic, that's a good thing. Less fuel for the divisive fires. Less members for the batshit caucus. Fewer fools who think insurrection is good for family and economy.

    I'm good with that dynamic.

We're not automatons who wait for the media to tell us what to think. I sure wish you'd stop insulting Americans that way, Aianawa. It undermines your own assertions about the 'bigger picture'.
