UEFI ... true that, misnomers are HIGHLY confusing to me as I interpret words as meaning what they are saying ... even subtext, especially subtext ..

I got my 1st exposure in 20 years last year to all the things you just related... it was interesting and cost me some time trying to get up to speed with the 'new' concepts (the system architect had no reservations about telling me what a moron I was). It might pay off in the end though as now I'm in contention for a similar role with a company I worked with previously but on different technology. Higher level UI stuff as compared to what you just wrote about. Lower level to the crossroads of hardware and software.

This is my kind of science NAP...the guy who invented the lie-detector put the sensors onto the leaves of plants and discovered that they really have feelings. EVERYTHING is alive and has emotions.

    Hi Elen,

Yes, I am aware of the earlier research and it has always left me in a quandary about the 'depth' of the nature in nature. I've always felt since a very young age that plant life was the most evolved form of life on Earth. And the bigger question is how to appropriately deal with that. It's probably quite weird but things get stuck in my head ...

I never did figure out if this was historical or a parable:

    Chlorophyll and Blood Regeneration
Chlorophyll is the substance which makes green plants green. The chlorophyll molecule has the unique capacity to convert the energy of the sun into chemical energy (through photosynthesis), which the plant uses to make carbohydrates from carbon dioxide and water. Ultimately, all living things—plant and animal—derive their energy, and therefore their life, from solar energy through photosynthesis. Yet, chlorophyll is not so unique in its chemical make-up. It is built around a structure known as a porphyrin ring, which occurs in a variety of natural organic molecules. The most interesting group of molecules which contain porphyrin rings are those involved in cellular respiration, or the transportation and consumption of oxygen. These include hemoglobin, myoglobin, and the cytochromes. Hemoglobin is the substance in human blood which carries oxygen from the lungs to the other tissues and cells of the body. The structures of chlorophyll and heme are shown in figure 3.1

If you notice between the two, chlorophyll is actually more complex (I failed high school biology, there was a girl that sat right behind me that i had been in love with since grammar school, she always sat with her legs spread. Honestly I couldn't concetrate on 'biology' ... didn't even care actually)

The chlorophyll is all like, "My tail's longer than yours". And Hemoglobin's like, "Yeah, well I have a gate that opens and closes."

They're a pair, like male and female.

Plants have a kind of intelligence that is difficult for humans to understand. We have a lot of hubris. Most of my life contained the phrase, "Life just can't survive there," followed by the discovery of life there, wherever 'there' was at the time.

Intelligence and sentience were considered even more rare.

Now we're beginning to understand that life is all over the universe.

Our existence here is pretty amazing. It took an asteroid to change things enough so that mammals could thrive and evolve into their many forms. Otherwise this still would be Dinosaur-land.

Humans have managed to create many kinds of civilization. Which don't seem to last. But nature carries on.

    Long live chlorophyll.

Shiny. The story calls to mind something I heard Neal DeGrasse Tyson say. If there is intelligent life, who's to say they wouldn't blow right past us, like we walk right past ants. We don't try to communicate or develop relationships with ants.

Well, most of us don't anyway.

It's kind of like that ... I hope he didn't have anything to do with it because then I would have to delete the post ...

Of course they're ignoring us. After all, we're made of meat.
