I listened to this one. I didn't know a lot of the personal history of John Smith. He went through many different States with his new religion. I was visited by some Sisters. But not any Elders. (who are barely adults)

This is one where I disagree with Dr. Grande, he is too far up in his "intellectual superiority".

He obviously hasn't listened to Tolle enough and just dismisses him as a charlatan which is mistaken.

This is to bolster your impression Wind:

This is why Eckhart Tolle actually changed his name from his original:

Eckhart von Hochheim OP (c. 1260 – c. 1328), commonly known as Meister Eckhart or Eckehart, was a German theologian, philosopher and mystic, born near Gotha in the Landgraviate of Thuringia (now central Germany) in the Holy Roman Empire.

Eckhart came into prominence during the Avignon Papacy at a time of increased tensions between monastic orders, diocesan clergy, the Franciscan Order, and Eckhart's Dominican Order of Preachers. In later life, he was accused of heresy and brought up before the local Franciscan-led Inquisition, and tried as a heretic by Pope John XXII.[c] He seems to have died before his verdict was received.

He was well known for his work with pious lay groups such as the Friends of God and was succeeded by his more circumspect disciples John Tauler and Henry Suso.[citation needed] Since the 19th century, he has received renewed attention. He has acquired a status as a great mystic within contemporary popular spirituality, as well as considerable interest from scholars situating him within the medieval scholastic and philosophical tradition.

The problem with a critique of the lack of originality is that as the saying goes, "Nothing under the sun is new". The reason people gain respect many times is that they create a body of work that synthesizes knowledge and relates it to others in a satisfying and articulate fashion, but not necessarily in a way that the average critic is going to understand. If an individual receiver finds resource in the words or thoughts then it is mission accomplished.

This isn't the 1st time that Dr. Grande has spoken over his own level of spiritual development or knowledge. He won't get his statue.

Between you and I, if I went to him for therapy I'm sure after the first session I would be contemplating suicide.

I know about the background of Tolle. You might be a bit harsh towards Dr. Grande though, he's just a shrink after all.

I'd pay to see a recording of the two of you talking about some issues though.

To be honest, I thought about sending him my analysis of the Q followers to see how we would assess me ... perhaps calling me 'anonymous' because I wouldn't be a name that anyone would be interested in listening about. Perhaps he could simply say it was an analysis of one of his followers ...

Dr. Grande is suffering from the puritan ethic ... How extreme the malady is I can only speculate, so be certain that I am not diagnosing him or anyone ...

He left out one potential motivation. Paddock's lifelong search for the ultimate high. The obsessive-compulsive drive with a need for the adrenaline rush coupled with a depressive disorder is an explosive combo.

I would assume so too, he went out with a bang after the thrill was gone along with the money. Or as one could say, it's an extended suicide. "I suffer, therefore everyone else must suffer too and I shall take down as many people with me as I can."
