Dr. Grande has made many videos about this case, here's his latest take on it. I think he gets it more now.

Call me crazy, but aren't cops supposed to be the servants and guardians of people? Not executioners.

hmm, that cop was not destined for a career in detective work.

Can't be trusted unless they kill an 'other'

That was the case. Not now. They might view the community as the enemy and go out on a hunt to take some folks down. The militarizing of the police has not done us any favors.

It's good to forgive people, but it shouldn't mean that you would allow them to stay in your life.

hmm, "Kill them with kindness" was one of my ex-wife's pet phrases. I always thought it would be much more satisfying to just kill them.

He's flat wrong, PO's are obligated to engage an active shooter ... period.

It would be weird if they weren't obligated. Cops are supposed to protect and serve, it's their job.

The question seems to be becoming 'protect and serve whom?'

“Neither the Constitution, nor state law, impose a general duty upon police officers or other governmental officials to protect individual persons from harm — even when they know the harm will occur,” said Darren L. Hutchinson, a professor and associate dean at the University of Florida School of Law. “Police can watch someone attack you, refuse to intervene and not violate the Constitution.”

The Supreme Court has repeatedly held that the government has only a duty to protect persons who are “in custody,” he pointed out.

The Supreme Court ruled on Monday that the police did not have a constitutional duty to protect a person from harm, even a woman who had obtained a court-issued protective order against a violent husband making an arrest mandatory for a violation.

The decision, with an opinion by Justice Antonin Scalia and dissents from Justices John Paul Stevens and Ruth Bader Ginsburg, overturned a ruling by a federal appeals court in Colorado. The appeals court had permitted a lawsuit to proceed against a Colorado town, Castle Rock, for the failure of the police to respond to a woman's pleas for help after her estranged husband violated a protective order by kidnapping their three young daughters, whom he eventually killed.

Sure looks like protecting life and liberty are becoming a matter of who's got the power. Not about actual protection. The cops in Texas had all the gear and armor and they still weren't willing to risk their own lives.

They don't have to, right? SCOTUS said so. So they maybe won't do the right thing simply because they don't have to.

And so we head on down the slope of inaction, failure to take responsibility and excuse making.

I've been getting bits and pieces of info about the Heard/Depp trial. Some folks are talking about 'believing women'. And I understand the call considering the history of women, abuse, rape, and being blamed for it.

But blind support is just as bad. The last thing women need is someone lying, taking advantage of the system and getting a bunch of money for harm which did not occur. That sets women, and all those abused, back. People won't support the rights of the abused if they perceive lies and antics.

I personally think Amber has mental issues and is making up most of what she alleges in terms of actual physical abuse from Johhny. I think she likes the spotlight of the court as much as the screen. I think she does damage to all those victims of abuse who struggle to be believed.

We'll see what the jury says.

I've actually disagreed with Dr. Grande quite a bit when it comes to this case. I'll have to see this one.
