But do you know why that's the case, and that he damn well may win again? Posted by Gio, Bill Maher nails it, people are just as sick of the Democrat's stupid shit (no offense DT):

America needs democratic socialism, AOC style. Strong unions, universal health care and a much smaller military budget. They also need, as Canada does, all levels of government to mainstream, and get rid of unnecessary red tape.

Big corporations love red tape as it raises the bar to entry for competition. In government bureaucracies all of the red tape encourages empire building and lower level employees justifying their existence. You should see how bad it is where I live. It would be laughable if it wasn't so completely destructive. It must be the same in the U.S. depending on what city county state you live in.

yeah, but american propaganda has just destroyed the right's consciousness. Even my next door neighbor an educated Venezuelan can't draw a distinction between Democratic socialism and communism.

Are we beyond redemption? There are a lot of Irish folks here. Irish Americans, anyway.

Yes, but Americans tend to be so brainwashed about socialism that they equate it with communism and you know that communism has a bad rep. Have you read the latest threads on Avalon? Fuming madness there about socialism and communism. I think in general Americans are brainwashed to vote against their own interests and it always seems to work. I don't say that Republicans are pure evil, because they're not. It's just that party is so pro-corporatism and greed. The Democrats are a pro-corporate party too, but with less insanity and some common sense. They are still bought and paid for mostly though so corruption rules the whole game.

There is no real progressive lefty party in America, there's only right wing and ultra right wing. Well, maybe some Dems might go for centrists too. I do like AOC, she and a few others seem promising, but I hope they won't compromise their values eventually. Btw, are Canadians like Americans, but more sensible because you have democratic socialism there too like here in Scandinavia?

one can speak to a Canadian and not recognize the difference...they are just generally a more enlightened culture. Possibly because of its history and its colder up there ... people that live in colder climates are warmer inside ...

People are forgetting history to the point that they think we were fighting socialists in WWII as opposed to fascists. They've forgotten that the communists were our allies then.

We are doomed when we forget our history.

Lol, maybe. We Finns tend to be "nice", but reserved too. Alcohol or coffee seems to keep us warm...

Not that I'm aware of. Is Bailey's the same thing? I used to like that, maybe because it was sweet and chocolaty.

Bailey's is made with whiskey, cream and cocoa, but there's no coffee in it.

Coffee sends me instantly to the Moon so I avoid it as I prefer to have my feet on the ground even if my head is up in the clouds.

Irish coffee is coffee, whiskey and whipped cream on top. As you drink it through the cream, the elements mix, the heat and aromatics are fantastic.
